    JOE Seating Question

I agree, pretty much any seat in the house is a good one at the Joe. The only time I was slightly disappointed with my seat was game 4 of the WC semifinals last year. Our tickets were in the very last row, but in this section the last row was in a little nook at the very top of the arena. I've been in the very last row before, but never like this. We were actually 1 row higher than the last row of the sections around us, I don't remember what section number, I'd have to dig out my ticket. Because we were that high up, the monitor blocked our view of the far end of the ice. I learned that night what it means when your ticket reads "obstructed view" Luckily, we were able to move down a few rows pretty early in the game because some drunk high school kids got kicked out My personal favorite seats are the first rows of the upper bowl sections. Gotta love the extra leg room when you're right in front of the railing.

2010-11 Fox Sports Detroit TV schedule

I have Comcast so unless I shell out more $$$ every month for the sports package, I'm SOL for any game on FSD Plus. I hate you Comcast. I still haven't forgiven them for not broadcasting the Canada/USA gold medal game in HD.

Humorous article on Intent To Blow: http://intenttoblow.com/?p=1019 I'm glad everyone's laughing at the whole thing now. I don't think he's a bad guy, he just doesn't know the power of millions of people on twitter. Reminds of of those ad council billboards on I-75 while driving through Flint: Once you post it on the internet, you can never delete it.

I personally don't care if he apologizes, but if he wants to save some face PR wise its probably the best move. As it is, this is probably going to all go away by tomorrow anyway. I guess all he did was damage his own rep, but I can imagine the TB organization wanting their players to keep a certain level of dignity and professionalism when it comes to interacting with the public. If I said some off the wall crap on twitter as a representation of my company, I sure as hell would get chewed out for it. Twitter... gotta love it.

He's been trying to explain himself on twitter all morning, but all he's doing is digging a deeper hole from himself. He just needs to apologize and shut up. Wonder if Stevie will chew him out for this one.

The NHL fan base is growing...

I've actually started noticing this during the '08 playoffs. I would go to the bar during games, and there would be entire tables filled with nothing but women. They all seemed knowledgeable about the game as well. I think its great, the more diversity in the fan base the better.

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?

My current girlfriend calls them quarters. Yeah, she's a Pistons fan more than anything, so I don't quite fault her for the terminology error

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?

My gf never watched a game of hockey in her life before we met. She's a born and raised SE Michigan native, and is traditionally really into the Pistons. However, I think she's lost interest since she's never wanted to watch a game since we met. We met in the middle of the 2008 playoffs, and she watched every game with me. She was very open minded about it, asked about the game, and got pretty into it during the Stanley Cup Finals. She even bought us tickets to go to a few games during the following season. While she doesn't want to watch every game like I do, she does like to watch the important games with me, and is always willing to go to the JLA for games. All in all, she's a good sport!

Where do you buy your Red Wings Gear?

I'll give an endorsement for FanaticU. I go to the Berkley location (12 mile and Greenfield), their store is top notch. They have very reasonable prices, the staff is friendly, and most of them are die hard wings fans. I went in there to get a Winter Classic jersey customized, and ended up chatting with the employees for almost an hour about the wings. Really great store. SportsK is also great, I've purchased jerseys from them as well. Great customer service, and great prices. Also, buying from either of these stores will help the Michigan economy, they both do business out of the Detroit area.

Watch what you eat at Detroit Area Pro Sporting Events

For the price of a couple pizzas and beer at the game, you can enjoy a delicious meal for 2 at any restaurant in Greektown, or go to one of the casino joints. Most downtown restaurants have buses that will pick you up for free after a game. After watching some of the stadium food specials on travel channel and food network, Detroit stadiums have really lame food offerings anyway compared to other cities. I'd probably pay the premium for some delicious, unique stadium food (provided it was clean, of course!)

Bob Probert passes away at 45

So sad and untimely. It was such a shock to see this on the news yesterday that its only just sinking in today. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family.

"Detroit sucks" chant at Cup celebration?

They do realize that the Blackhawks didn't face Detroit at any time during the playoffs, right?

    Jerseys

During the colder months, I'll wear them around the house after work or on the weekends. Jersey's aren't just for game days! Driving home from work last week, I saw a woman walking her dog in Royal Oak sporting a Wings jersey, thought it was pretty cool.

    Stanley Cup Championship Gear Leaked?

My 2008 cup champ shirt (the one with the team roster on back), which was one of the best looking champ shirts I've seen in long time, shrunk up at least a size smaller the first time I washed it. Never had a chance to go grab a replacement. boo Reebok boo

Wings will sign multi-year lease at the Joe

I love the feel of the Joe. It's small enough that practically every seat is a good seat. It has that old school feel to it, and like the above poster said, the moment you start climbing those steps you feel like you're at a hockey game. The biggest problem I have is the bathroom situation. You pretty much have to leave to go 5 minutes before the end of a period or else you'll be waiting 20 minutes in line. I do wish there were more bars and restaurants right there that you could walk to right after a game. The Death Ride to Greektown on the Old Shillelagh bus is a nice compromise though, and it never gets old

    Yzerman Jersey

Jerseys are expensive, wear the hell out of them I have Yzerman's, Lidstrom's, and Konstantinov's jersey, and they all get put into the rotation. I actually think its cool when I see older jersey's at the Joe are at the bars - it shows that this team has a strong history and fans that acknowledge that history. As a contrast, I've never seen anyone wearing a Penguins jersey other than Crosby, Malkin, and the occasional Lemieux thrown in for good measure.

    Stanley Cup Finals vs Superbowl

That would be really bad for fans of either team. A 7 game series can go one for 2 weeks, people would have to fly to some other city and potentially stay for quite a while to watch a whole series. Given the cost of travel, etc, it would probably be impossible to fill up an arena every game. Even people who don't watch sports watch the super bowl, there aren't many non-hockey fans that watch the SCF.

I just re-met Nicklas Lidstrom tonight....

I wish I had an excuse to go to junior hockey games around the Detroit area. I have two co-workers who's kids are involved with hockey, and they've met several Red Wings, including Lidstrom and Yzerman. Where else are good spots for running into Wings players? Several people have said that they meet players at the Joe, is there a certain area to go where you can meet them?

    2010 Finals schedule.

I think NBC dictated that bulls*** schedule so the finals wouldn't run into one of their s***ty reality shows, or something.

Why would anyone want MTL to win.

Well, I guess they'll be gooning it up with Chicago in the finals.

Why would anyone want MTL to win.

Excuse my ignorance, but I've always wondered why a lot of people on these boards hate the Flyers so much? I've never really paid much attention to the east until recently, so I probably have missed some general ******* moments by the Flyers in the past. Just wonderin'...

What Was Your Favorite Game This Season?

Regular season- March 22nd, 3-1 victory over the Pens. Fun game to watch, Detroit owned the ice, and Jimmy owned Crosby. The game against the Kings in January where Howard was unstoppable with some 50+ saves. Pretty much everything after the Olympic break. With the Wings playoff spot in jeopardy, every game felt like a playoff game. Playoffs - Game 7 vs Coyotes. The Wings finally got it together and put a decisive end to the series. Game 4 vs Sharks. At the last minute, I picked up tickets to see games 3 and 4 of the San Jose series. So glad I did. Although game 3 was a huge disappointment, I got to be at the Joe for Franzen's incredible performance in game 4. That place was rocking.
