Yeah, it's a San Fransisco band singing about Detroit, and not the bay area. Must mean that we left on impression on them GO WINGS :octo: give 'em hell!!!

I'll be at the game tonight, I have a good feeling about this one. DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'

There were plenty of loud "Jimmy Jimmy" chants from section 216 whenever he made a big save. Glad to hear he heard it! Despite the iffy playoff performance, I do like Jimmy in goal, and I think he has a lot of potential. This is his first playoff and I think he's holding his own better than most rookie goalies would. BTW, I'll be chanting the Jimmy chant loudly from section 212 tomorrow night

I totally agree. I was all for saving Tiger Stadium and doing something with it (museum, minor league ballpark, something). However, I always favored that site as the place to put a new Wings/Pistons shared venue. It would do wonders for that area. Corktown has so much potential, it just needs to have a reason for people to make the trip. Motor city casino isn't too far from that site anyway, so it would keep the Ilitches happy.

Anyone see the tinfoil hat mob yesterday? I saw a few tinfoil hats sprinkled around the Joe last night. Kind of cool how a fan rally can be organized so quickly using twitter - anyone know how big it was? Here's the freep article: http://www.freep.com/article/20100505/SPORTS05/5050467/1053/SPORTS05/Fans-Wings-foiled-again-by-officiating

I have an older CCM replica Red Wings jersey. I haven't noticed this until recently, but it doesn't have the NHL puck logo patch on the lower right side of the hemline. Noticed that pretty much every other CCM jersey I see around town does include this logo. Just wondering if I've been walking around with an impostor all this time, or if the logo patch is something the post-reebok CCM jerseys have? My jersey says that its made in Canada on the tag, and actually feels a lot sturdier than a lot of the other jerseys I've come across that are now made in Indonesia. The lettering is made of the same material that the on-ice jerseys have, and is stitched on. I'm now jersey guru, so I just wanted to see what's up with mine. Don't really care, the sweater looks great and I'll continue to wear it, just curious. Thanks!

I was in FanaticU in Berkley today (12 and Greenfield), and they had a lot of Helm t-shirts availabe for $19.99. They were also using a Penguins pennant for a doormat, which was hilarious

Theories like this are one of the reasons I love being a hockey fan so much
-
Sorry to join the discussion late... However I agree that it is bad for the league. I'm by no means a hockey expert, I'm pretty much just a casual fan, but I've been following the Wings and hockey in general since the early 90's, and I've never heard of all this kind of consipiracy theory type talk before with regards to a Stanley Cup championship. We'll never know if there was some kind of rigging behind the scenes, but at the end of the day there probably isn't. What breeds this kind of thinking is the constant over-exposure of one team, and one player in particular. It makes it so every little mistake made by the refs seem like it was done on purpose so that the pens could the Cup. All this over-marketing of Sid and the negative conspiracy theories it brings is only hurting the league and potential new fans. I've been trying to get my girlfriend into the Red Wings and hockey since we won the cup last year (she's more of a Pistons fan), and after this playoffs she's convinced that the NHL is corrupt because of the officiating and the Sidney Crosby love. From an outsider looking in, I don't blame her, it really does look like the league wanted to give him the cup with whatever means necessary.

Thanks for the info everyone. Mine looks pretty much exactly like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pavel-Datsyuk-Red-Wing...93%3A2|294%3A50 CCM logo on top above the name, nothing on the hem. I'll assume its real since it has the tags and what not on it (mine did too when I bought it). Perhaps produced sometime between putting the wings logo on the hem to moving to the puck logo?
-
If you're by a Meijer, they probably still have them.
-
Mine isn't authentic, it doesn't have a fight strap. Doesn't have anything on the hem, its just blank. The fabric is like in between the authentics and the replicas they sell now, a little heavier but not as much as an authentic. Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know if Mr. Illitch shook Bettman's hand last year after we won? Would be interesting to know.

So I was looking for a new pair of shoes online today...

No jealosy at all. I actually feel a litte sorry for Crosby at times because he is letting himself be an NHL/Reebok marketing pawn. Meanwhile, the rest of his team is in his shadow. How many goals did Crosby score the entire SCF? One, and not even in the pivotal game 7. This can only breed resentment amongst his peers. If anything, they should have the team photo on the Reebok site, not Cindy's. In the NBA, the it may be true that the individual > team. But this is hockey, and in the NHL it has been proven time and again that team > any individual effort. That is why the Red Wings are so successful. -
Now that Cindy has his cup, perhaps we can finally get some decent officiating during the post season. Probably not, but hey, I can dream right?

I wasn't at the game, I ended up watching the game on a crappy LCD tv at Mr. B's in Royal Oak that wasn't even tuned to an HD broadcast, so I might have missed it. Was an octopus thrown onto the ice during the game tonight? I wanted to go downtown to watch but the traffic jam down I-75 kept me away after I got off work.

Does anyone know how the outdoor viewing at Hockeytown Cafe works tonight? Would we have to actually stand in line and wait to go into the bar, and then out to the patio, or is it a true "tailgate" where you just find a spot to sit your butt down where you can see the screen? I didn't go to the outdoor viewing on Tuesday, but plan on going down there with friends tonight. I'm just wondering if its worth it, as I won't be able to get there until around 5pm tonight. I heard there were people already lining up there early this morning to claim spots. Also, does anyone know if we can bring coolers and what not to the outdoor viewing party, or do we have to purchase beverages from Hockeytown? Thanks, and GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like fun Wouldn't mind hanging out in the parking garage with a cooler.
-
From those pictures, it looks like that screen will be too small if we have to sit/stand anywhere near the back of the patio. Might change directions and head to Old Shillelagh Good beer, and a great crowd! Work is dragging on soooo much today, I want to get this party started!
-
How does the patio party work? Can you just walk up and set up a chair? I don't want to get there at 5pm tonight and be SOL Stupid work, I knew I should have taken the day off...

Red Wings truly do have fans all over the world It is definitely a great time to be in Detroit right now, despite the economy, etc etc.

Grand Circus is probably the closest station, and that let's out near the south/southwest entrance to Comerica. My usual plan is to park at Greektown Casino, and take that station around. However, since they have the trains moving the opposite way now, you'll have to go around most of the downtown area before you get to your stop. I'm hoping to get a spot on that gravel lot along Woodward just norht of I-75. Harry's is also a good place to park, and enjoy some beverages beforehand. They (usually) have free parking, provided you go inside and buy a few barley pops. http://www.harrysdetroit.com/

I've decided that if the Wings win tomorrow night, I'm going to celebrate by splurging on a winter classic throwback jersey. I've been eyeing these since I first saw someone wearing one at the Joe. I'm just wondering if these are a limited edition item that will be harder to find as time goes on, or if they will continue to be produced throughout the year? With all the other things going on in life right now, I might have to wait a bit after our victory in order to pick one up. Thanks, and GO WINGS!!! ok ok, I'm gonna get one no matter what happens at the game tomorrow

Thanks for all the great advice everyone. One more question: which is the more authentic look, a nameplate or having the letters sewn on directly? Sportsk.com offers both styles.

I live right by the Royal Oak/Berkley location. Do you know what their prices are like?
