yeah it's back up now...... 40 minutes, how do you figure that ? as i see it you got until 1pm on Friday
-
it was crashing for me during the same time period you were having difficulties. Fingers crossed that it's a reliable site. Other then that I had also noticed a few minor glitches when the site was loading the past few days. I'm not for the ranking option either, I would like to see the x2 game included somehow. update: it's crashing again for me at 6pm, tried two different browsers ;-(

yes,if you will please delete them except for the Dan Bylsma_3 one. For some reason the Dan Bylsma one caused the original conflict since it's associated with a different mock pool I set up yesterday. I think people will know who Dan Bylsma_3 is in the future :-)

i see 7 people besides myself have signed up already on the site to date. I also see that I registered twice by mistake and have 2 screen names. I had a little problem since I had already created an account yesterday on that site and it created a conflict. I will try to delete one of them. thanks again GoWings1905

wow Blood on the ice, this looks very promising to me,it's everything we do on a weekly basis except for what you stated. I set up a mock contest, one thing i like is that you can keep everyone's selections secret until the deadline has passed. I've always wondered if contestants look at other peoples picks in considering their own, this site would eliminate this. All selections would then be made public after the deadline. A drawback would be that if someone missed the Friday deadline it looks like you wouldn't be able to salvage the Saturday and Sunday picks but I'm not sure of this. But then again the few people that miss the Friday deadline could submit their picks in the forum. Edited Update: this looks like it might not be a problem after looking into it further, the games that have already started would not be available to make a pick but it looks like the games that have not started could be still be selected or edited It wouldn't eliminate all the work but a good deal of it. There's also a "Ranked Pick em" option where you could put more weight on some picks and less on others. Very interesting but this might be too much change for many people. Edited update: A way to get around the lack of a bonus pick would be to go with the "Ranked Pick em" option and have a "in forum" rule of restricting contestants to selecting only one weighted game. (or 2 or 3 games or 1,2 less weighted games?) (1) Further Edited update: There might not be a way to select only one weighted game. (2) it looks like you can drop (discard) as many weeks as you would like to.

hey Kook, with the super job you did last year and taking the contest to new heights you deserve a lifetime pass on any further contest duties. I get the feeling that help from aussie wing and possibly kook would take the form of doing an entire week of the contest yourself here and there rather then my idea of several people splitting up the duties of one particular week. I don't do spreadsheets so I could help out piecemeal rather then everything for a week. I suppose GoWings1905 is planning on utilizing the spreadsheet as the two previous hosts did, possibly counting the totals scores up from one page alone would get in the way of the use of a spreadsheet ?

Hi everyone, first time I've logged in here since the end of the contest last April. I visited the forum on the day of the plane crash, what dark times that was :-( I really wasn't interested in doing the contest but I'll contribute. Here's my idea, I'll be responsible for tabulating the totals of the contestants on page 1 of the weekly contest thread and submitting that to GoWings1905 It's a daunting task counting up all those games for everyone. I was bouncing off the walls and going crossed eyed by the time I finished. It would be cool if we had a pool of about 4-5 people who could be responsible for doing one of the other pages each and every week.(especially the first few hectic weeks with so many people participating) or fill in for others when the regular volunteer for that page can't do it for some reason. Finding reliable people is the hard thing I would say. I would also provide for the other volunteers a highlighted list of the winners of each game for that week to aid them if they request it from me. I've found that that sort of a list (printed out) makes it a little easier.

I agree 100% with dat's Sick (above), -1 if you pick wrong,I believe that was my idea when aussie first went to the double up game. If you had a penalty for picking wrong you could also give the people the option of not picking a double up game so there would be no risk for the timid :-) But with that said IMO it would be a close call whether to make any change at all....... If you wanted to keep more people participating would doing a drop "3" like what aussie_wing did cause more people to stay encouraged to stay in the contest ?

can anyone name the past overall winners ? anyone win it more then once ? Hooon Kook_10 Aussie_Wing before my time here but someone named NorthGuy ?

great come from behind victory hooon ! Gowings1905,great season, you've been one of the elite few the past couple of years.I remember 3 first place finishes in a row by you last season, awesome ! The high scores really surprised me of all weeks with intensities of the teams hard to figure
-
by my calculations the Detroit win clinches the overall title for hoon ! Edited: sorry, hooon with three O's. You gotta spell the champs name right !

thank you very much for mentioning that brief period but I don't belong in the same sentence with kook_10 We can be thankful that two intelligent young men,Aussie Wing and Kook were nice enough to volunteer there time to this contest the last several years. I would have helped out more if not for two things, spread sheets which I don't have no experience in using and the drop 2 rule made it more time consuming to compute the scores. Friday, April 8 Pittsburgh at NY Islanders Philadelphia at Buffalo Chicago at Detroit Florida at Tampa Bay Carolina at Atlanta Columbus at Nashville Minnesota at Edmonton Dallas at Colorado San Jose at Phoenix Los Angeles at Anaheim Saturday, April 9 New Jersey at NY Rangers Ottawa at Boston Tampa Bay at Carolina NY Islanders at Philadelphia Montreal at Toronto Washington at Florida x2 Buffalo at Columbus Nashville at St. Louis Vancouver at Calgary Anaheim at Los Angeles Phoenix at San Jose Sunday, April 10 Detroit at Chicago Boston at New Jersey Edmonton at Colorado Pittsburgh at Atlanta Dallas at Minnesota

oh,ok......good work as always Kook, your the best ! I always thought the total cumulative score was an obvious tie breaker,it among others things reflects a dedication in the long haul over all months of the contest.

I looked over the scores real quickly, not sure I even looked at all of them so don't hold me to it,looks like naranja may be the lone winner with 15 and then around 4 people with 14,I had 13 so I would like to keep my score please :-) This might have been the worst week for the x2 game since it was implemented...
