Any truth to this? Apparently Bob McKenzie is saying that the draft will be held early June and that they will use the old lottery rules with only one winner and that the team can move up a max 4 spots. This would mean only a team in the bottom 4 would have a shot at Lafreniere. As people have pointed out the Lindros situation had extenuating circumstances....However IF Alexis Lafreniere were ever going to pull the same move I doubt it would be with the Wings. In a Detroit news article he states the wings are a great organization, not that means anything, but his relationship with Joe Veleno might. They've been linemates for two years on team Canada and are very good friends off the ice. Id also say no. If we were a contending team Id say absolutely if we could afford him, at this point I would just keep drafting and hopefully Yzerman can pull off a couple more Fabbri esc trades.

This is my train of thought right now. Theres simply no way Larkin or Mantha are going to pan out the way we need them to. IF we aquire Lafreniere and that's a huge if, I think it would be in our best interest to trade these two for picks or both for one elite prospect to a win now team. This way Alexis (again IF we get him) can get a couple seasons under his belt helping his development as we are drafting back up for him and the Veleno's, Zadinas, Rasmussen's & Seiders continue their development with the big club as well. To me this makes sense as having our core shifted to the young ones, aging useful UFAs are always available. Trade to build, because right now we don't have sh*t to work with

I would normally agree but at this stage I just can't see a situation where we would benefit from a 28 year old Larkin or a 30 year old Mantha more so than what we could get for their return right now. Unless of course it doesn't take 4-5 years to turn this around *edit for spelling and sh*t

Considering how far ahead we have to look to see ourselves competing again, trade anyone whos over 20 that can get us great picks. Stock pile as many as we can and build. Out of Larkin, Mantha and Bert the only one Id actually miss is Bert.

Exactly. He was out of Detroit anyways RFA or not. He was my favourite player to watch until this season, this year he’s been absolutely terrible and it was very obvious that he was just out there doing what he wanted to do.

When you see Helm and Glenny in the top 6 while playing the best team in the league you know you're in trouble *edit: they didn't disappoint either. This roster is worse than sad but it does have some bright spots. We NEED that first round pick

Bowman in his prime would 100% make a difference. Playoff team hell no, but our compete level would be a heck of a lot better. Bowman is probably the best coach to ever be behind the bench so its silly to think he wouldn't do a better job then Blashill...I think most wings fans knew we were gonna suck, and we actually needed to suck for a better pick. However the effort hasn't been there and the results of the losses show it, surprised we lose? no. Surprised loosing games by 3 or 4 goals as much as we have? yes

This is definitely not a thing. Zadina is better then Fabbri now and hes 4 years younger...That being said Id love to keep them both somehow but I cant see why Fabbri would want to stick around this s*** storm

He did climb into the stands to kick the s*** out of a fan with a shoe though, so for that I give him a pass. Also at this point you could put Larks on defence and it wouldn't make a single bit of difference to the outcome of these hockey games. *edit: forgot to add the beating was with a shoe

Yeah I didn't really get the hate on this one. Larks was most definitely making the comments because of how he feels he's played this season and nothing more-he simply feels he doesn't deserve to go so he'll take the time off...I love Burke but he just misread what he was saying, no big deal it happens and at this point Im sure Larkin wishes he reworded it or simply kept his mouth shut like burke suggested he should. Also why are we choosing between Zadina and Fabbri? I prefer to be stoked we have them both and hope we can lock up Fabs. The thought of them sprinkled into our current line up with Veleno, Ras, Svechnikov and our mystery draft after losing some dead weight makes me happy

I’m not familiar with Fabbri other then he went 21st overall in the 2014 draft..anyone got any deets? Definitely didn’t lose much

I wondered when the AA thread would light up again. Took much longer than I thought tbh I personally thought AA was gonna light it up this year, very disappointing to see. He’s shown glimmers of what I think he can do but if he’s not going to play defence and he’s not scoring...it’s quite terrible
