Smith was brought up to be Stuarts replacement. He's leaving in the off season, they want to see what the kid has. To say he should be playing in front of E, is a stretch though. E has the playoff experience and has produced in the playoffs. Anyone remember 09? He was outstanding. Either way I'm liking the depth the Wings have on D. Especially now that you have both Kindl and Smith as your 7th and 8th D men.

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

Almost done -
Maybe Mule will remember he's the mule 3 for Franzen
-
When I heard he was available I immediately thought Holland will find a way. But since the past couple days, I don't even see the Wings making an offer. Hurdler, Kindl, and a 2nd round pick for a franchise player like Brown just doesn't seem realistic
-
Ask Ryan Malones nose how nice Pavel is.
-
I absolutely love how this board goes from why waste a 1rst round draft pick to KQ IS BACK WOOOO!!!

Who got Kronwalled
-
I like this from Kenny. He did a good job at addressing our biggest need Defense. Money left to acquire a pretty good name at the trade deadline if needed. Wings have to stay healthy and I still think they will move Hudler for a bag of pucks. Lets be honest one of the biggest years in free agency will be next year. Currently scheduled for free agency next year include names like Patrick Sharp, Brad Stuart, Nick Kronwall, Ales Hemsky, Dustin Penner, Drew Doughty, Ryan Sutter, SHEA WEBBER, Pekka Rinne, ZACH PARISE, Keith Yandle, Bret Burns, Steven Stamkos, Mikeal Grabovski, Mikel Samuelsson, Alex Semin, Karl Alzner, Zach Bogosian. The point is there are a lot of big names next year on the market. The Wings are saving money because one of these names will be signed by the wings next off season. So just relax for now and enjoy the season. We still have the best Defenseman in hockey and two of the best forwards. We will be fine maybe even win the division.

Im stunned the people on this board aren't happy right now. Nice deal for dirt cheap. -
Woah holy overpayment. They are most likely out of the Richards sweepstakes
-
Pouilliot to Boston yes!!! Jack Edwards favorite player headed to Beantown
-
Well who knows he could be in deep conversations with Brad Richards and Thomas Kaberle. We don't know. I'll reserve mt judgement until the end of the period.
-
Unless he is saving money for the trade deadline I don't understand what he's doing today
-
kenny has spent over 10 mil and I dont see he improved the team yet.
-
What in the world. Commodore? Really. I rather have Brendan Smith or Kindl. I dont know maybe he can be effective if used properly.
-
I'm a huge fan of big E, but even I think he's not worth this much. Maybe we're wrong but wow
-
Wings will make an amazing play to acquire Shea Webber. In all seriousness though I think they will sign Wiznewski and possibly another forward. Days like this always scare me. The Wings have been extremely quiet while the rest of the league has been anything but. Wings have money to spend so dont be surprised of a huge move. Then again this is the guy who builds his team in August not July.

Do whatever it takes to get Webber

Lidstrom Larionov Sakic Yzerman Ever see the 2 hander he laid on Mironov in his Jets days
-
f*** you San Jose... If your going to beat us at least show some heart and last 6. Pathetic
-
The only time I was ever upset that a Red Wing retired or left was when the captain hung them up. That one hurt
-
I see Kronwall being the number one next year even if Lidstrom returns.
