Just because you become UFA's don't mean you still won't resign with your old team. Eager, Versteeg, Barker, and Brouwer I'd like to keep. Johnson and Fraser could walk for all I care. I mean, it'd be nice if they could stay, but no great loss if they don't. The other 4 it is imperative we keep. But Dale should've sent in offers sooner and thought about the whole Canadian holiday thing first.

*Sigh* I guess it is a matter of be careful what you wish for. When Campbell was dealt to San Jose, I was pissed. Little did I know how much him coming here would cause so much havoc.

Kenny should save our cap space until the trade deadline
HawksFan4Life replied to hckypete96's topic in General
I don't see why Kenny actually needs to buy players. I mean, you guys are good at developing talent. -
I'm not asking you to expect it. What I asked you is IF he was in this situation, and he said what Tallon said, would YOU believe him?
-
I think Campbell-Hjalmarsson would make a nice second line defense. Walker and Campbell were a horrific pairing. But Campbell with Hjalmarsson was much more promising.
-
May I introduce you to a gentleman named Nicklas Hjalmarsson? He saw limited action, and he is no Keith or Seabs, but he showed promise this past season. At 22, he'll only grow.
-
Ok. Well, suppose the Wings were the one's in this situation and not the Hawks. Would you believe Holland if he said what Tallon said? I am going to believe my GM. Sorry.
-
Keith and Seabrook are good D-Men. Sure, they fell when we played you guys. Nonetheless, they are a huge dynamic duo here in Chicago. Keith and Seabrook are here at least one more year, and without Matt Walker, it gets better.
-
Sharks DID show life in the playoffs. See: 2004 I don't get why our defense is getting slammed.
-
Sorry, I do not follow. Stevie Y was your heart and soul. After 02- 1st round, 2nd round, lockout, and 1st round again. Then he retires, and you guys make it to the WCF 3 straight years. My point is that just because an icon retires doesn't mean bad things.
-
I actually voted other. I think Matt Walker needs to be on this poll. I think it was a little overpayment for a guy who was criticized but good on the Hawks message boards. We'd be nuts if Walker was an RFA and we matched that.
-
I don't know if you are giving Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook enough justice. I know, 2 defensemen, but they have excellent chemistry, a great pairing. Keith had an outside chance to get a Norris nomination this season, and will only get better. There is no reason to believe that we can't be capable, but also there are no guarantees in sports either

To those who have any wonder about us having cap issues, well.... In front of me is an article that was written by Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. Allow me to quote an excerpt from this article: "The Hossa deal is a salary-cap hit of just more than $5 million per season and Tallon said it doesn't jeopardize the future of core players Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Duncan Keith, who will be up for new contracts following the 2009-10 season. 'We took that into consideration,' Tallon said. 'The type of contract Marian has agreed to will not influence our core." I'm sure it's also on their website too.

Ain't Huet's fault that we could only muster up one goal. 40+ saves was a great performance. Helm's goal had a little bit of an open net too if I recall.
-
would Hossa stayed if we would have won the cup?
HawksFan4Life replied to WingNutt's topic in General
Would Heatley be taking the place of Hossa for a long term contract? -
As for Kopecky, if there was a time machine, I'd have like to have prevented this and go after the likes of a Beauchemin or get Wiz back myself. As for Scuderi, he definitely gave me playoff memories. Watching Crosby vs Ovechkin was probably the best series I had ever seen, and him robbing Ovie of a goal was just nasty.
-
Not really.
-
Doughty and Scuderi on the same line? Would be interesting. Hard to fit Doughty into a Calder nomination this past year, but he had a promising first year.
-
I think it was rather impulsive of Tallon to sign Huet. I know you guys are Wings fans, but the Hawks were doing good the second half two years ago, and Khabby was much to thank for that.
-
What I was saying is that Pat said that he can't rob you guys of goals in the Finals anymore. All I said it that the Hawks may have something to say about that. That's all.
-
I'd rather have Hossa than Havlat. I wanted Marty to stay, but now that I think about it, we are getting a better player, and someone less injury prone. I understand that Kopecky hit for you guys. That's a plus in my eyes. Huet won me over in game 5, as I have stressed before.
-
I know some of you think we're chop liver, but we're not going down without a fight.
-
Didn't even know he was a free agent. And as good as you guys are, the Chicago Blackhawks may have something to say about that, Pat. I think the Hawks will be a 3rd round team at least, if not more...
-
To the 16 of you that would rather have Hossa than Franzen- Franzen is really good in the playoffs. Hossa is not as bad in the playoffs as many think he is. But Franzen steps it up come playoff time, and I think it was he, not Zetts who should've won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 08.
-
Did you watch that game 5? Yeah we lost, but did Huet ever keep us in the game. The only reason Huet hasn't one a playoff series yet is because of retarded refs (See: 2008 Easten Conference Quarterfinals Game 7). Although on the flip side, how could he just give up a 2-0 lead like that when he was in Montreal? I have reason to be skeptical, but in order to have the good, you have to deal with the bad too I guess.
