So as you guys know, July 1st is less than 2 weeks away, so I thought I would start a thread where we can discuss all our potential UFA signings because some of the other threads are starting to get off topic and are turning more into arguments rather than ideas and discussions. My list begins with the widely discussed James Wizniewski. I think he would be a great start, in getting our blue line back on track. After Wizniewski, I would love to grab one of Pitkanen, Ehrhoff, or Bieksa, as well as a cheaper D man like Anton Babchuck, or Shane O'Brien to round out our D. As far as forwards go, I hope we take a run at Tomas Fleischmann, Jussi Jokinen or even Simon Gagne (for the right price). I am still on the fence about what to do about Jiri Hudler. Part of me wants to keep him around to give him another shot at getting his game back on track (which I saw glimpses of while playing with Datsyuk) and the other half of me feels like we should try and trade him to another team needing offence (Florida?) for a draft pick. The possible trading of Hudler (which I doubt will happen) will weigh largely into what caliber of forward we go after, if any at all. Maybe...Ville Leino? Show me your Wish Lists!

The Wild are putting Cam Barker on waivers today and plan to buy him out if he clears... I think he would be a good replacement for Ericsson if he is wanting too much cash. what do you guys think? take him off waivers with a 3 mill cap hit? wait for him to get bought out? dont even consider him?

we should definately make an offer to Lee Sweat...I watched this kid at the Canucks training camp last season, he had unreal puck moving skills, great first pass, could QB his own PP unit and was solid in his own end. If we could get him in GR for a few seasons I really feel he could blossom.

what do you guys think about Niclas Bergfors? I just read that he was cut loose from Florida. Im kinda on the fence about this guy. But for some reason, I still believe he could explode with talent.... If we could get him at about 1 mill for 1 year, I wouldnt mind taking the gamble on him. thoughts?

Doughty is the type of player that doesn't become available very often and considering the state that our defence is in at the moment, I would take the gamble on him in a heartbeat... He will be a perennial Norris finalist with Weber for years to come... Its funny how you talk down on everyone as if you are the only one who has the right opinion about everything on these boards... You need to be less negative about everything...

we need to let ericsson walk if he wont accept what he is worth, and let Smith have 1 more year in GR. We need to sign Wisniewski, and 1 more high end dman(pitkanen,bieksa) as well as a low end dman(o'brien, babchuck) to compete with Kindl for the last spot. Otherwise bring up Janik for the 7th spot. I would give Hudler, Emmerton, Kindl and a 2nd rounder for Burns in a heartbeat

trade Hudler for whatever we can get and let Jagr take his spot. But if we do not sign Jagr, sign someone like Jussi Jokinen. I think Jagr on Datsyuk's wing would be crazy.

I would take a shot at him if it were for 1 - 1.5 mil but not for anything more than that. Jagr has put up consistently good numbers in the KHL, and I actually think he might be a great fit to play with Datsyuk. It couldnt be worse than the Modano signing...

I have heard rumour (eklund sadly), that the Wings may be interested in him. I usually wouldnt even care about anything eklund says but this seems right up Hollands ally(Leino,I.Filppula). He scored 37 goals for Jokerit last season and is set to become UFA. Personally I would be all for it, at the right price tag. Thoughts?

aaaaaand....back to hockey. I reaaaally hope Holland drafts Jurco. This kid is SICK and underrated imo. I think he should be considered top 10. The kid is unreal!

I would take Wolski on the Wings in a HEARTBEAT. As long as it was around the 2 mil range.
