Yeah they got all those steals before drafting out of Europe was really done that much and before the KHL came around. I'm not saying draft 0 europeans but they shouldn't focus their drafting on eauropeans like they used to because the steals are going to be coming less and less teh way its scouted now and with the KHL who knows who will come over to play here when they could stay there and make more money.

Well ******* sure weren't what god intended to play hockey and thats what detroit has had on their hands. Leino was a puss, Ryno was a mommas boy puss and Axelson was a puss bursting with potential. I would rather draft people who are gonna play dump and chase in North America then draft people who are gonna play like little girls from europe and stay in europe for their whole careers. I'm pretty sure every North American the wings have drafted none have refused time in GR when its needed. We've had 3 the last 2 seasons do it from Europe.

Being the finnish league top scorer is good but nothing special. Its different sized ice and a way softer league. Its comparable to the WHL probably and I'm sure at whatever age Leino is he would dominate that league too. Those 14 games last season he was running on adrenaline. This year with a weaker team he showed really how bad his skating was and had no way to handle physical play. In return we got a 5th round pick, not bad. We dumped some salary, not bad. AND we got a solid 6th defenseman who can hit and fight something our system lacks completely. He's also only 25 and played over 100 NHL games. He's proven to handle the physicallity of the league and we can very well turn him into what Lilja was last year, except more effective at the physical part. After seeing what Leino had to offer this year and the fact that he's a little baby refusing to be sent down I'm sure Holland would've made this trade. I'm sick of all these pri madonna europeans thinking theyre gods gift to hockey that the wings have been drafting. Either draft Euro's out of North American Juniors or draft North American.

I think had leino been a bit younger we coulda got a 3rd but he isn't really young anymore and has done nothing at all really to show potential. The guy can't skate. I really think this trade is a steal for us.

Wow I see alot of people who dont like this trade. What has Leino done to deserve more then Tollefsen and a 5th? We got a 5th round pick for free basically and its not like TKO is some old washed up player. We got a defenseman that is a hammer, if he's playing we have a guy we can count on to clear the crease and protect the goalie ALL the time. He's still young, 25 I think(?). We resign him let him play a year in GR or just have him taking 6th defenseman duty next season and he will probably end up being much better then Lilja. Theyre the same style of play except Ole is tougher, hits harder, and is younger. The wings have always needed a true stay at home physical D-man and this guy could be the one. Remember he's only 25, most wings prospects are making it to the NHL aronud this age and this guy has already played over 100 NHL games. Oh and did I mention he regularly gets over 100 pims a season. A true tough defenseman.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but I don't think the hit was as dirty as people are making it out to be. It didnt really look to me like the elbow came up that much if at all(from that angle anyways) and the other guy kinda leaned into Scandella reaching for the puck.

I have a feeling Lebda or Meech might be traded thiis year. This also might be an insurance policy in case Lilja just cant hack it anymore. Lilja was our crease clearing tough d man before the concussion and Tollefson plays the same game except he's tougher in pretty much all ways. With some instruction from the wings maybe Ole will end up turning out really strong defensively like Lilja did after a few years here?

The flyers have a surplus of gritty guys that hit and fight. He'll be appreciated more here when he's clearing the crease and stopping guys from hacking at the goalie then in Philly because in Philly everyone does that. He can't be worse then Leino anyways.

Lets be honest here people, the wings are not even close to being the grittiest in the league. They have some grit sure, but get real. They don't compare to Calgary, Philly, the Ducks or Vancouver. Stupid penalties? Thats a result of hard nosed players playing with emotion. You know what hard nosed players, playing with emotion bring to the table? Probably the biggest role in hockey if you ask me. Oh and Rosehill is awesome, I watch a tonne of Leafs games and this guy is tough as nails but can actually skate out there. He's so much faster then Orr and he gets so many big hits.

I played over 15 years of competitive hockey in my life with full contact and would say skates are your most important. If you buy cheap ones they'll wear out and feel like youh ave pins in your foot everytime you skate. Elbow pads and shoulder pads are really where you can save the money. I use a pair of old school lace up cooper shouldies(never had a better pair and you look sweet in them haha) that I got from a buddy's dad free. I have matching cooper elbow pads that I've had to sew about 10 times now but i love them. Theres barely any padding in them but the mobility is so nice because it only covers my elbows not my forearm. Its nice to have a decent pair of gloves. You wanna havea flexible pair so you can dangle and be comfortable. I like my gloves short but if you can't tell I dont really like padding lol. The stick is all about personal prefernce, I have a wood and composite stick and like them both. The wood is a nike bauer suupreme 155 its probably the best wood you can get and it only cost me 35 bucks. The composite I got on sale, its a Stealth and I absolutely love it. Equipment is all about personal preference. For me I like the small pads and easy to move in ones like the lace up shoulders but tis really all up to you thts just my 2 cents.

You would really rather trade away Cleary then Williams? Cleary is clutch in the playoffs and has some grit. Thats just crazy I would trade Leino for Rosehill before I would take Colton Orr. Rosehill actually looks like a decent hockey player, can skate and has huge hits. Orr is more of a pylon.

I literally agree with every single thing you just said, especially the Callahan part. And did you see Mursak's fight with Richmond? Like where the hell did that come from all of a sudden, I used to watch Jan play alot when he was with Belleville ( I had Sarnia season tix) and never saw that from him. Exactly what I was thinking. I don't think I've ever seen Boogard make a dirty play, he's th best enforcer in the NHL right now. And he`s a hell of a lot cleaner then Vladi ever was

May's fights aren't always staged, he's physical and will hit. Leino doesn't fight, gets hit and laid out all the time, fears physical play and doesn't score. Hmm do we take the guy that hits and fights but does nothing else or do we take the guy that does literally nothing?

Jason Strudwick would be a nice Lilja replacement. Probably an improvement over Lilja actually. He's a free agent at seasons end and is only making 700,000. Its possible.

Or Strudwick.. Both would look great in a red jersey.

Mitch had another fight the other day. Didn't do to well but didn''t get beat up really either. He hasn't been doing to well lately in the fighting department. He's up to 35 points in 48 games, just the kind of improvement from last year everyone was hoping for. I wish that someone on here has seen him play this season so we could get updated on how his skating has imrpoved. I also wouldn't mind knowing if he's a big hitter either. He's pretty small so I dunno if he has the big hits in him or not but god damn the kid is tough as nails.

Wouldn't wanna see Abdelkader or Helm traded. I wouldn't mind seeing Kindl, Lebda, Leino, Meech or draft picks moved to get him but other then that I don't think I wanna see anybody moved. If this guy could be developed he could be the next big thing and as close to a Lidstrom replacement that we could have. I know you're all going to scream blsphemy blah blah blah but its true. This guys cieling is so high and he's been stuck in LA, not exactly known for their development and time given to prospects.
