Jimmy Howard to start VS San Jose; Brad May replaces Ville Leino
newfy replied to a topic in General
Probably the most appropriate time to put a face palm I've see in a long time on this site. -
Gonna be a rough one. May's going to give it to one of Shelley or Staubitz.

People saying May is just an enforcer bothers me. He skates just as good if not better then Leino. He gets in hard on teh forecehck will hit and can give and recieve a pass. He can stand on his own 2 feet (which at this point I'm wondering if Ville can) and he sticks up for our guys. Leino skates around with his head in the clouds, slow and has had oppurtunities on top lines while May hasn't. Its pretty easy to see May provides more for this team then Leino. (sorry finn wing )

I think Abdelkader will impress us with a fight against Simmonds tongiht. This team has just been feisty as hell lately.

I would love carcillo in a wings jersey
-
Phaneuf has had abad season but lets not forget how old he is and that he was already a norris runner up in his career. He would be just about the best replacement you could get for Lids besides like Chara. Not to mention how long we could have him as a wing because he is so young.

The bottom teams play eachother to see who doesn't get to play in the A pool the following year.

Yeah a player like Callahan doesn't really have to score goals anyways. If he can get decent footspeed to help on the occasional pk and make a breakout pass then with is fighting ability he has a great shot at making it. I remember reading that some people had him ranked as going in the 4th round so he does have some talent. After Ferraro this guy is my favourite prospect for sure. Speaking of Ferraro he had a fight last night too. His second of the season, this guy is pretty gritty and wills tick up for himself to just he has blazing speed and a goal scoring touch.
-
Yeah that fight was pretty close to a draw. Callahan was all over him until the jersey came up. He's been made an assistant captain too? Thats a good showing for a guy who is only second year in the league.
-
Toews had a nice one that I tinhk could have made this list.

Last year isn't that long ago and it also happened to be the biggest game of his career with probably every NHL scout watching. Bad game to make an ass of yourself

By the way Tardif was huffing a puffing after thatI'm pretty sure he ws at the end of a shift. He looked like he goingt o go in the bench before the fight started. -
Very weak looking squad compared to other teams. Strong goaltending but thats it.

The Value of an Enforcer: Brad May/ The Misunderstood Point Sytem

Yeah the difference is I'm not acting like God because I can spell words. People make typos on the internet as its pretty obvious was the case in my post. Yeah I really don't know how to spell because and I actually thought thee nd of theg ame was how you spelled the end of the game. I for sure didn't just hit the space bar by accident. Point is I'm not even sure what you're arguing? You were just telling Micah that he couldn't spell and he was still making points about the argument. Just stay on topic bro. And the Janik fight wasn't started by Janik, you can clearly see the guy skate right by Janik in his ear before they fight. -
I don't see how you can say you would rather have Leino then May. May is just as strong if not stronger defensively and at least does something out there.
-
You're one of the most anti enforcer people on here but no I wouldn't even go so far as to say May is an MVP

If you want to bust balls over words then get yours right. I was kind enough to bold yours so that next time you make a post without logic to correct someone's spelling you'll have correct spelling and won't embarrass yourself. PS means post-script. PSS would mean post script script which makes no sense. Its supposed to be post post script. Quit acting above people beacuse you can spell things right. Congratualtions bro talk about the subject and reply to his point. But on topic now... That Anaheim brawl was hardly standing up for eachother, Dats got his head punched in by Neidermeyer, Hossa let Getzlaf push him around and back in the Shanny days that would not have happened at thee nd of theg ame. The wings demanded respect back then. -
Once again teh anti enforcer crowd shows up to show their bitterness that their god Kenny H signed a guy who fights by complaining. I'm sure any of them could give us the name of a figure skater they would rather see in his place.

How can a trainer prevent Z from getting laid out like he did and seperating his shoulder? Same with Franzen, how do you get an MCL in shape? A trainer can't prevent Ericcson's knee from snaping back like it did. These are just a bunch of freak incidents that can't be prevented.

I think there was only onet ime where he really got ran and that was when he was skating to the bench and Della Rovere hit him. Other then that it looked like pretty harmless every game type of contact that he just tried to sell beyond belief.

Beauty of a game. Close to the game where Toews won it for Canada in the shootout. Canada just has too much character, grit and skill throughout the line up for these other teams to handle them.
-
After the show he put on in last years world juniors I'm glad Markstrom isn't a wing. Mcollum didn't have a great tourny but he didn't act like a little girl after letting in a couple goals.
-
And if he doesn't have what it takes to be a goalie then he can be a swimmer the way he loves to dive.....

We have to look at why May was brought to the team. He wasn`t brought in to be a goal scorer or necessarily be a defensive star. He was brought to the team to fight when he needs to. It doesn't matter if you people who hate tough hockey like it or not thats why he's here. May is one fight away from being in the top 10 most fights this season. Compare him to the guys with the 6 or 7 million dollar contracts who are greatly underachieving and May is doing a great job. plus/minus is a useless stat for this argument. May isn't on a goal scoring line and there are going to be times when he gets stuck against another teams top line. Of course he's going to get scored on. He isn't bad defensively, using the plus/minus argument shows you haven't been watching him play. Congrats you guys can read boxscores.
