Lacrosse is the sport people play in Canada to stay in shape for hockey. Its not even comparable to the love Canadians have for hockey.

He has got alot better but still hugs more then I like to see in a fight. For that reason I'm hoping May goes with Strudwick or someone. Those out west teams always seem to have more then one person willing to go.

Per culture and love of the game the easy answer is Canada. Sweden has soccer, Canadians however have one game that dominates the country...Canada. No other sport is comparable to hockey in Canada whatsoever.

The only fight all year where May even looked like a punching bag was his fight with ripper. That also happened to be the fight where May beat him up before rypien had to jersey him and punch him while the linesman weren't doing their job by breaking it up. Other then that he's fought a bunch of legit fighters and hasn't lost decisively if not at all. And Homer has earned the right to that spot. He's a warrior and works hard for all his goals, he would probably get 90 points a season if he got creditted for an assist everytime a puck went in because of his screen on the goalie. I would like to see you stand infront of a hockey puck coming at you 100 mph, that could easily break your face, take constant hack and crosschecks to your body and say you don't deserve the ice time you're getting. He's producing so leave him where he is

Leading the forum in stupid posts that add nothing to what we're talking about. May isn't a punching bag, I would like to see you do what he does night in and night out. Homer might be a choppy skater but he has a nose for the net and finds ways to put it in. He pays the price for his goals and doesn't just score because he's a pretty goalscorer. He's what hockey is all about.

Brad May doesn't chew up ice time for younger players. He plays a 4th line role, the younger players are better off in Grand Rapids playing big minutes. And nayways none of those youngsters can fill the role May plays for this team.

Really , you would take Belak over the Boogieman? Belak's a great fighter but Boogard is arguably the best in the league and can skate well enough to throw a check. If we could get Boogard it would be like having this era's Porbert... that would be awesome

I hate when people say Tatar should get games with us. He's a quarter of the way into the AHL season, his first AHL season. If he does get called up how does that look to all the other prospects that have put in their 2 or 3 years down there to get skipped over on a call up for a guy whose played a quarter of a season? He shouldn't get a game this year, based on his stats maybe near the end he deserves it but he doesn't deserve it based on the time he's put in.

If you think rink size is the only difference between the KHL and North AMerican leagues then you are sorely mistaken.

May spark the team by beating up Crombeen, Jackman or even someone like Backes for all I care. Just get the job done

Flip has done nothing at all to show he is getting an A, he wore an A in preseason. He doesn't put up crazy amounts of points to earn a letter for his skill and on the ice he doesn't show leadership. A guy like Cleary will get it before Flip does.

Yea but he wore it in preseason when he was one of a very few players who have any NHL experience, that doesn't really mean much. He may be great in the dressing room but if that was the case we should have given Downey an A. He just hasn't shown it on the ice really yet, if he breaks out this year I might change my mind.

First off, anyone suggesting Filpulla for an A is crazy. Z is the clear future captain and no we will not rotate letters. The wings have as far as I can remember never done that and won't start now. Z with the C Kronwall an A, Cleary an A and Pav obviously. Cleary has shown how he can lead in playoffs by stepping up his game and brings some other elements of hockey to the table unlike the skill guys.

4-2 wings. May doesn't fight because he's gone in back to back nights with a bad eye. I'm thinking maybe Abdelkader puts those lessons he got from May a couple practices ago to use tonight and puts a hurting on someone.

The season after this one should be Jaime's year to get a shot with the big club. Hopefully Maltby and Homer will hang up the skates ( how much can Homer's body take honestly) and give guys like Tardif a shot. May will probably be gone and Tardif can fill that role.

Its hockey, you can never have enough grit. Especially when the gritty player has earned a call up by scoring just as much as anyone else on the farm team and providing leadership as the captain. So yes, in this case grit is relevant.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope they don't call up Williams, an AHL goal scorer who hasnt really been scoring isn't what this team needs. Tardif is outscoring him and brings grit. I would rather Tardif but wouldn't mind seeing Newbury up either.

He went down from 8 fights 2 seasons ago to 3 last year. If he picks up on the fists again a bit more this year and keeps up the decent scoring then he should be with us next season. Anyone know why he toned it down alst season?

I've been hoping he would get a shot to show what he's got in the bigs sometime soon. Him and May would FSU on the 4th line. He's earned a shot with his play this season.

Hmm makes you wonder if maybe something else was said but they don't want to release it? Because if thats all he said thats pathetic. I have a very good friend playing for the sting I should ask him about it.
