I didnt expect him to put up that many points thats the thing. We're looking for someone who plays 10 minutes a game, why not sign a guy like Bertuzzi who since leaving the wings has done alright the last couple seasons putting up around 40 points and still can hit and stick up for himself. Sure you lose 20 points or so but Bertuzzi has been getting healthy again so who knows what he could do, he isnt just some tough thug that cant play
-
I would be happy with this. Eaves helps out on offence a bit, Grier can PK and has an abrasive side which this team desperately needs. I thinjk I would rather Pyatt then Grier though
-
Yeah we should sign another soft 5'9 player who doesnt show up in playoffs or play defence to replace Hudler. That would help the team out way more
-
I was just wondering with all the fighting everyone does on this forum about tough guys if someone who has watched alot of griffins games could weigh in on this. We all saw that Abs can play decent hockey and throw the body, but could someone who has seen him scrap tell us if maybe he could be the type of guy everyone here seems to want? A good player that on occasion can drop the gloves and do some damage..

Ericcson will have to take care of everyone unless we sign a free agent that can handle himself
-
So now youre saying Messier won the Smythe on a team that many consider the greatest of all time. Pretty difficult feat for someone who was just a supporting player. He won that Smythe over Gretzky for God's sake give the guy a little respect
-
Messier played in Gretzky's shadow. Hard to look good when you have the greatest all time on your team. You can argue all you want about how good Dionne is, he didn't win s***. If youre good enough to be considered a top centerman all time you are good enough to bring home some hardware. Messier carried the 94 rangers to their first stanley cup championship in 54 years I'm pretty sure. A Hart trophy, Conn Smythe, Lester B Pearson and 6 Stanley cups, what did Dionne have? If youre truly great you win something
-
My promise was if they were better then Messier I would stop posting. That is a list of 10 great centers but tell me how the hell you think Ron Francis is better then Messier. Or how Marcel Dionne winning nothing in his career makes him better then Messier?
-
Seriously? Ron Francis is not better then Messier you've gotta be joking. How much did Marcel Dionne ever win in his career by the way?
-
No I'm not going to scoff at his suggestion. At least someone is bringing an argument about why they think I'm wrong. And I'll agree with him its a shame that those players mostly weren't seen in the NHL. Gretzky himself said Larionov was the best player he was ever on the ice against.
-
No it doesn't. I'm not some die hard Messier fan he can have his opinion on why Mess had such a great career and how he was lucky to have it. Fact of the matter is regardless of what era he played in, he was a cornerstone on 6 stanley cup winning teams and is 2nd all time in points. I don't see what the big deal is to you, I've backed up every statement that I've made with facts and defended what I think is right. You think it came across as arrogant but I haven't seen much from you that has backed up anything you've said. Come to me with some facts and maybe I would change my mind but until then I'm going to stay with this opinion.
-
yeah its definitely one of those calls that are grey area.
-
Yeah, its when the ref thinks you tried to put someone into the boards with too much aggression. Not trying to hit him to get him off the puck but too just put him through the boards.
-
He's still listed as a free agent at NHL.com thats why I was wondering.
-
I would tell you youre wrong because there isn't 10 centers let alone players that you could name that are better then Messier. He had to play in Gretzky's shadow thats why he gets less respect then he deserves.
-
Has he even been resigned yet?
-
Okay I know people are getting sick of these name threads but this is one person that I was wondering would maybe be on the wings radar. He's a young guy, hits, fights and agitates. I know Holland said he wants a gritty 4th line type well this guy can skate and still handle himself. Since he's young wings could sign him short term and then give him alonger contract if it works out. What do you guys think?
-
I would like to see this list of 10 centers better then Messier. If you can make a list of 10 centers better then Messier I will stop posting on these forums so you won't have to deal with my "Canada is better than everyone else, so anyone who doesn't submit to Canada sucks" posting attitude." I was backing up my statements with facts so I think most of them were justified, there's nothing wrong with a little disagreement in a conversation.

First off, love the food analogy really got your point across Second, youre right all those countries will have good team with serviceable players Last, I think Canada will find it easier to find superstars to fill out their 23 man roster. Russia and Sweden will all have some superstars on their teams but top to bottom Canada will have more of the stars as a result of their depth and amount of players from Canada
-
I'll agree on Datsyuk and Ovechkin. But there are so many good Canadian players as well. I'm not saying other countries don't have players that can match up with Canada's but there are so many amazing players from Canada that our depth is twice that of most countries. Getzlaf, Lecalvier, Crosby, Iginla, Nash. If you made a list of the top 30 all around players in the NHL 15 would be canadians that might come across arrogant but I think its a pretty fair statement
-
Yeah I see what youre saying there but you also should consider the depth would come into effect over that 82 games. I think Canada is at an advantage there as well.
-
Messier was supposed to be listed in there as well but I had to retype what I original post was going to say because I didnt want it to come across as too arrogant for you it seems like your feelings are pretty hurt already by the way youre all pissed off
-
I'm not sure if you're familiar with Mccormick. He's not some heavyweight meat head that goes around looking for fights all the time. I'm not on here preaching about how we need a team full of goons in teh first place I never said that once. I think we need someone who can lay out some bodies on the 4th line and play a regular shift. Being able to fight is a bonus. Mccormick averages about 10 minutes a game which is a good amount of ice time for a 4th line player
-
This is going to come across arrogant most likely but youre just begging me to act like this it seems. When you think back on the past and hockey's greats I don't think you can name 6 people from the world combined that are better then Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, Yzerman or Orr. I know it sounds arrogant but you kind of asked for it
