Yeah I actually just did that, I keep forgetting that you have those games archived on there.. thats a pretty sweet feature As for the brawl, a guy runs Mcdonald pretty good while he has the puck covered. Smith was the first one to grab the guy and start throwing, then there was a big scrum. Next angle they show has Mcdonald absolutely feeding blockers to someone thats on the ground. This is when the other goalie skated down Smith ended paired up with some kid who looked scared of him and fed him a few good ones, than the Mikkelson kid completely covered up and was all defense. The goalie fight wasnt very good but its rare that they are. The best thing I got from watching it was that once Smith is with the wings, Howard is gonna be nice and comfy because Smith wont let people near his goalie like that

After watching the post game interviews, apparently it was the second time Joey Mac had gotten run in the game and this time there wasnt even anyone around. Completely unnecessary is how Macdonald described it. I'm glad to see that a top gun like Smith will do that, hes going to be that guy we've been missing since Fisher. He wont fight a tonne but he can sure handle himself, the wings will finally have that good player, playing the big minutes who is tough as hell. I also am proud

That is what would make him likely to be traded really. Hes a solid player, so by packaging him with a prospect or draft pick you can get a HIGH impact player. Setoguchi are similar players to me and he was good enough to become the focal point of a trade for Brent Burns, who is a bonafide number one defenseman. You obviously dont trade a solid performer like Fil for just anything to shake the team up, but because he has performed so well and has a movable contract he canf etch a very good player

These 2. That season for Probert is actually one of the more impressive to me all time. All Star appearnace, 30 goals 398 pims and being by far the toughest guy in the game. Yzermans just silky smooth with mitts that look like theyre actually made out of jergens for gods sake

Wouldnt mind seeing that Desjardin number 69 and Abdelkader scrap tonight. I've watched a few games and already dont like him and he hasnt even pulled any s*** on the wings yet.

Abdelkader had a huge hit tonight that gave the wings some momentum early (key word early lol), then he had a very nice play to set up Helm. Hes been consistently physical all year (another huge hit against Ottawa), tuned Lapierre in the Vancouver game, has scored a goal. Seemed odd that he was the one moved down to the 4th line tonight, I tihnk he should've been put on Datsyuks wing, not Homer. Anyways, Abdelkader looks much better this season and I could see him putting up around 30 points, 5 fights and being a consistent big hitter all year. Heres hopin

Last night when they broke that line up and bumped Abdelkader down to the fourth line when he was one of the few playing well. I think that line should stay together as well, but in that game he was one of the few playing like he wanted to win and got bumped down for it. If you threw him on Datsyuk's wing during that game and told him to crash the net hard he could have been very effective.

Meh I kind of agree sort of. Ive thought the bottom lines could use some youth and energy injected for a while. The start of last nights game reminded me of the start vs Vancouver, Abdelkader went out there and tuned Lapierre and it woke the wings up. They need a couple more energy type guys who can wake the team up in other ways besides being ok offensively for a bottom 6er. Mursak should help bring some energy When this team gets stuck in a rut like they did last night, they hardly have anyone to pull them out of it with a big hit or a fight. They should actually ditch Miller, Brunnstrom, and possibly Emmerton (give him time to see what he can do) and get another Helm or Abdelkader type in the lineup. Those other guys are redundant, if you just take all their salary and throw it towards one guy like Helm or Abdelkader you should be able to get them. Its games like last night, where there is potential to wake up your team if you play that style, abdelkader did it with that hit but the momentum didnt last long

Hes shown a scoring touch around the net, and is probably the second best forechecker on the team behind Helm. Throw him on a line with Datsyuk and tell him to do what Homer does and he will put up points. It couldnt hurt after these last 2 games

He has 5 points in 8 gamse now but shockingly also has 3 fights so far. He also has an outside chance at the WJ team this year, if not than most likely next year. He seems like a very good prospect to have

Sproul was also selected for the OHL and yeah it seems like its hard to find good defenseman in a draft, I dont wanna speak too soon but Ouelette and Sproul could be paired up in detroit 5 years from now. Its hard to say but theyve shown promise so far

Well tongihts game wasnt good by any means, but Ericcson and Kindl have been pretty physical so far this year. Ericcson may not be agreat hitter but hes huge and can man handle guys in the corners, hes been doing it consistently so far. Went after Dorsett at the end of the game again as well, Babcocks words musta stuck in his head a bit

Its late and I dont have time to post all the links now, but I read on twitter that Montreal is looking to make a trade. Elliot Friedman tweeted today that there were scouts at the Montreal Florida game from several teams. Im infering that means Montreal has the feelers out a bit? Or maybe even Florida I dunno. But anyways Detroit was one of the teams with scouts at the Montreal FLorida game tonight. Upfront Montreal has Kostitisen and Moen coming off the books at the end of the year. I wouldnt mind Moen, not sold on Kostitsen to say the least however. Moen wouldnt really be good unless the wings sent back Miller. Lars Eller and Ryan White are both restricted after this year. I would like either to be honest for the right price. Eller is a young top 6 player potentially and White is a bulldog, reminds me of |Derek Dorsett. Versteeg is restricted for Florida at the end of the season. I personally wouldn't really want Versteeg or Kostitsen too much but they could add some good secondary scoring punch for the run. I dont see Holland trading for Moen or White really either just because his tradable assets will be saved for a bigger deal than that if he will make one.

I'll just make a quick one here. My 2 favourite non wings in the league are probably Jamie Benn and Ryan Getzlaf. Benn is going to be a stud in a year or two. Next in line might be Prust. Hes a UFA after this season and I really hope the wings pursue him big time. 30 points and 160 pims last year. Throw him on a line with Helm and Abdelkader and sparks will FLY. Giroux also has a nasty set of mitts on him, after Datsyuk I think theyre the best in the league. But seriously if Holland could get Prust for 2.5 Million I would be all for it after this year.

I dont think hes overestimating it really. He laid a beatdown on a kid thats usually in the top 10 for fighting majors right there, the fight wasnt really even close. If Ericcson did it more, he would get much better cause thats a part of the game you can only get better by actually fighting. Aint no practice drill helping you there. And I agree it seems like Babs is encouraging him to do it more often, he had similar words for Adelkader last season as well. I think hes a pretty good fighter already, he has the potential to be a pretty damn good one. Growing up in Sweden he didnt do much of it and hes already good enough to take on alot of light heavy weights. If he gets playing like aloose cannon a bit more he could really be a force. Bertuzzi is far from a sissy, hes 36 and fought 4 times last season including playoffs and preseason. Not a lot of guys wanna mess with him, hes earned his reputation (through his cheapshot and really tough player prior to that). Ever notice when he goes into a scrum and shoves a guy, people arent too quick to shove him back and the situationusually dies right off? And Ericcson has went Clowe (who is a heavyweight) and did pretty well, Clarkson (light heavyweight) but it was a bad fight and has man handled all kinds of punks like Perry, Dorsett and Ott. Why does he need to fight an enforcer? Those punks are the guys that need to be kept in check and Ericcson has dummied any agitator hes taken on. Sure it would be cool to see him take on an enforcer, but not just to prove something. He shoudl do it when theres good reason, and most of the times its those pests that are giving reason, not goons

He could very well be right up there with him though. Theres a reason Sheahan was ranked top 5 at one point. If his offense comes around, we could be looking at a scary player here. Like a 50 point Justin Abdelkader would be pretty nice ad realistic actually

Sheahans hot streak continues with his first gino of the season on a blast from the stammer position on the PP Hes tied for third on his team in scoring with 5 in three games. If he keeps up the pace hes had the last bit of last season and carries on his start to this season he could really challenge for a spot in the wings top 3 or 4 prospects. I think Smith, Nike and Tatar are set in stone as higher rated for now but he could definnitely become more highly rated than Jarnkrok, Pulu etc

Ericcson plays his best when hes on edge like last night. If he could bring that consistently he would be making his money. When he plays like that he makes Commodore not needed, I wonder if he knows this and will be playing on the edge more to hold down his spot
