    Abdelkader pounds Lapierre

Was there a noticable difference before and after? Yup Are you the type of person who would deny this effect of a hockey fight to all ends? Yup Does it feel great to have proof that the wings players also agree it can have a spark, contrary to some people's ridiculous thoughts on here? Definitely

    Abdelkader pounds Lapierre

Abdelkader checked lappiere, not even hard and Lapierre challenged him I guess

    Abdelkader pounds Lapierre

From someone there, apparently they dropped the gloves, each landed a few but than Abby landed one that kinda dropped him and thats where the cameras come in

    Detroit signs Nyquist

Is Drum showing the griffs this year for sure again? I know it was up in the air during the preseason as to whether he would or not...

    Abdelkader pounds Lapierre

Abdelkader on the Lapierre fight: "He asked me to go and I said yes. It was good to give our team a spark, especially after being off." The team was playing like s***, and he realized it and went out there to spark them. Needless to say it worked and the difference was noticeable, anyone who wants to say fighting has no effect whatsoever on a game is clueless. I think Abdelkader has really cemented himself as a solid middleweight his last 3 fights or so and has looked feistier this year than he did last year. When hes on the wings with Bert backing him up hes a real bruiser. Look forward to a lot more of this from him and Bert, that third line has been sick

10/13 GDT: Canucks 0 at Red Wings 2

Abdelkader has came out playing feistier than I've seen him in a while so I'll say tongihts his first scrap ROUND 2 Im thinking that Bertuzzi abby helm line plays great tonight for some reason

    Hudler?

Well he isnt exactly a third liner. I wont act like a huge Hudler hater because I'm not, I would rather see him traded for something we need because others can fill his role. I think the people who defend Hudler say he only plays third line which isnt true, hes with Datsyuk right now and had time with him last season as well as PP time. He also does play on the lower lines a bit as well. Hes the definition of a tweener really. Those other guys you mentioned aren't even comparable to Hudler. Franzen has the playoff resume, and the ability to take over games that not many players have. Hes the best goal scorer on the team, a good defensive player with a big body that he does throw the occasional hit with. Cleary almost had 30 goals in 60 something games last year, thats earning your contract in my eyes, and hes a PKer and defensive player. Bert has the ability to be a physical guy and has had solid production, even he is decent defensively and was being matched against Rick Nash last year. If Hudler tears up, all the power to him but even if hes scoring 60ish points a year (which is around his cieling i think) I still would love to see him traded because this team doesn't need a guy as one dimensional as he is and could use a guy with other attributes in his place. If Hudler is tearing up I would love to see him used to get Shane Doan, I feel like that trade could be similar to when they acquired Shanny in the day and just gave them that toughness they needed up front to not only outscore teams but bully them as well. The higher his trade value gets this season, the better but I think he can be traded for something to put htis team over the top and become a championship squad again.

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Because with Avery being waived Dallas was under the cap floor from when they bought him out. Nystrom is a solid 4th line guy and has a salary of 1.4 which is high. If they claimed him on reentry his cap hit would only be 700 000
  9. newfy

    Hudler?

He is a tradeable piece, one of the few. He plays no defense. This team hasnt made it past the 2nd round for 2 years, something needs to change. Hudler could have enough trade value that he gonna supply this team with something it needs more than him. Plus he dipped for mo money, and mo money mo problems.
  10. newfy

    Hudler?

No I never said trade Huder for Gaustad or Chimera or Moen, just that they could be good pieces to add to the third line for a deep playoff run and some depth scoring. Now if the wings could trade Hudler for Ruutu straight up theyre laughing. Hes a year older sure but he also is a league leader in hits, a big body and can play center. Hudler may put up 50 or so points but doesnt provide other things like Ruutu can especially since Ruutu provides something the wings lack in spades. And yeah he produces what Filppula "should" and likely what Hudler should as well but bottom line is they havent done much of it lately wheil Ruutu has. If they can get a sub 30, 6'2, powerforward for a second line center for Hudler than they shouldnt hesitate whatsoever

    Hudler?

Well depending on what our defense looks like etc, this could be the year to make a decent move at the dead line with the cap space, so might as well list it here since Hudler will likely be a part of the deal. Outside of the really , really good guys like Suter or Parise I'll list some guys that could be worth targetting. Doan has been mentioned but he would be a perfect fit in the top 6 as a power forward. Tuomo Ruutu - legit top 6 forward this team needs. Trade for him, let him take the second line cetner duties and put pav and Z together. He gives a big body that plays physical as well. I would be acstatic if Detroit could get him. His team is nothing special so they may be sellers as well. Hes young and could provide a very good second line cetner for years to come Paul Gaustad - faceoff guy and solid all around hockey player. Would give good depth in the bottom 6 and a big body that likes to throw his weight around And some good grinder types worth looking into are Travis Moen and Jason Chimera. Someone like Hemsky, Umberger or Kostitsen would be worth looking into as well to add depth for the playoffs.

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Pretty sure its Derek Dorsett, which is pretty laughable considering him and Nystrom are very similar players, with only a 3 year age difference. The difference being that Dorsett takes way more hot head penalties and has pretty similar offensive production. I think hes a great energy player but is on no different skill level than Nystrom who is being torn up in this thread by him. I may remmeber wrong but I'm pretty sure lol

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Nope, Nystrom had all of 2 fights last year. Its wanting someone who is capable when need be and is a physical player. Nystrom throws the body and is a big body that uses it. Wheres the thread about Brian Mcgratton who was just claimed today by Nashville? Nowhere because while being one of the absolute toughest players in the league, not many (outside of GMR ) want a goon like that. Anyways Nystrom is on re-entry waivers now and now with only being on the hook for half his salary I would love to see the wings pick him up, didnt want him at 1.4 but would love him at 700,000. If they dont like him he could be waived when Mursak comes back in 2 months, if not they find a way to use him and it gives Babs his guy to help keep the flies off

    Hudler?

Doan would be such a great addition to this team, I hope Hudler has a good year and they can use him to swap for Doan. Come playoff time that guy was changing games physically. Plus who wouldnt love to see Thornton looking like Franzen did after the first round last year?

    Bouchard suspended 2 games

Was watching hockey central today at noon and apprently a lot of GMs are pissed at the overdone suspensions, not just us fans. Pretty soon someone is gonna speak out. I dont see how a player basically lifting a guys stick into his own face should be worth a suspension, I can see a penalty here obviously but 2 games to one of the cleanest players going? Something needed to be done Shanny but come on man, the old saying is let the boys play after all

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

    A) His offense is a wash with Miller on much worse teams. Nystrom would probably have better numbers if he got to play with Eaves and Helm most of last season. He also plays the PK and plays over 13 mins a night (2 more than Miller). He also only had 2 fights last season, but is capable when needed. So yeah I'm glad you pointed out you watch these guys and know a lot about them cause its pretty obvious youre a liar now lol. B) Yeah you probably like Lucic and Christ Stewart because they score 30 goals while fighting. I guarantee you would say you like Miller more than any guy with a rep as a fighter even if they were pretty much equal in all other facets C) Youve made it clear that this isnt true

    Ryan Sproul

Hes at a ppg pace through 6 games so far this season, seems to be continuing his hot play

    Wings/Parise

With cap space this could definitely happen if Parise hits free agency.

Doan as a cheaper deadline guy?

Would be a perfect addition going into the playoffs. Can be a game changer physically and offensively

Report: Pre-season Fighting Lowest in More Than a Decade

Yeah to grow up playing a style of game like that youve probably got s*** going on in your life that messeswith you a bit. Theo Fleury is an example of a rough player who had demons that he took out on people on the ice. For all you know fighting helps keep these guys stable by getting out some of their problems. Probie was drinking 12 beers a night by 17, and thats before he took much head trauma from fighting... So how did fighting cause that?

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Brunnstrom had a decent training camp and now when you need to tie a game youre putting Brunnstrom out there? Do you guys not realize that Brunnstrom wasnt even that guy in the AHL last season? And once again Brunnstrom had 10 les pims in less games played than Nystrom last year, while 10 of Nystroms came in fights and I can guarantee a few were off setting roughings. Using stats and not bias against a player will show you that Brunnstrom actually takes more dumb penalties The Wings have also been worn down physically in the playoffs by the sharks and Coyotes the last 2 seasons. Noone will like to acknowledge that because it makes their argument against a physical player sound better. Maybe if the wings could wear down another team for once they would do better in the playoffs When has anyone suggested signing someone who cant play but can fight? Youre the worst on this board for putting words in other peoples mouths, as soon as its a 4th liner who can drop the gloves hes automatically only a fighter and useless in every other aspect according to you. Maybe try watching the guys play for once and youll realize they do just as much as someone like Drew Miller

Report: Pre-season Fighting Lowest in More Than a Decade

Yup it was fighting, not the death of a nephew causing severe depression, an accidental overdose on painkillers or a cocaine addicted lifestyle that did these guys in young
  23. Did Abdelkader actually have a huge hit last night? If anyone has the video that would be cool thanks
  24. newfy

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Yep I think its a good idea because Brunnstrom had a good training camp but isn't some god like player that fills any real needs at this point in time. Nyquist had a better training camp and he got sent down. He had a good training camp sure, but does that mean he shouldnt have to put in a little AHL time.. Ville Leino did and Brunnstrom doesnt exactyl have a great track record of producing so why is it that he should have a guaranteed NHL roster spot when another person could be picked up who fills more of a need on the team? I think youre overvaluing Brunnstrom, maybe not Nystrom but a player of his ilk that can play and scrap ont eh 4th line would be much better for this team than Brunnstrom

Read on twitter Abdelkader had a huge hit

Awe not what I was expecting from what I read, he did have a pretty big one at the home opener however. Should be on the wing all the time so he can play his style
