When Lashoff actually fights he does well. Ita too bad a big guy like him wouldnt add it into his bag of tricks a little more
-
Only rangers games I thought? Anyways Im excited to see what the prospects have been doing. Apparently Callahan has been working on his net front deflections like a mad man
-
I can still see number 2 being open even with all the recent events that have taken place. Mcrimmon made his name as a coach for the wings, not playing 3 seasons as a journeyman on the roster. His situation is different than that of Fish, Probie etc
-
Play the odds and Im pretty sure it will, being brought up in the roughest minor hockey leagues in the world will do that. Its not the natinoality, its the development of players that will do that

Yeah but Smith has played some Canadian Junior hockey and comes from a tough as nails family. Check out his bro Rory Smith on youtube for the National Lacrosse league. Smith is a natural fighter, could become a solid light heavyweight depending on how much he decides to fight and if he bulks up. But if hes throwing cheapshots, Smith will be more than willing to back it up, hes much tougher than Abby (who is startig to come along)

If I'm building a team I take Getzlaf and Perry without thinking twice. They do it all and still score, Getzlaf is one of, if not my favourite non red wing. Plus theyre clutch The Sedins are soft divers who do nothing in the post season and are older. Stamkos and St Louis are probably second, but St Louis is old now. Richards Gaborik could be the best but Gaborik has too many injury issues. If they stay healthy I eexpect theyll put up the most points though this season.

The exact same knock that Kronwall had coming into the league
-
The next Kronwall except Canadian and willing to throw the gloves off and pound your face in
-
Not Canadian I'm guessing? Canadians are basically baptized on ice water with skates on

Well you couldve made the NHL as a girl, its just next to impossible because of biology. I couldve made it to the NHL if I was bigger. My style of play is favoured more when youre like 6'3 225 lbs, not 5'10 185

Does anyone else find it a little odd that Conner is on a one way deal? His speed is very high end and he is a great grinder/energy type. The wings have needed team speed for a while and now they finally have it with Helm and Mursak, but does Holland perhaps see what Helms speed does for drawing penalties and creating energy? Are they looking to get faster for bigger, slower teams like the sharks come playoff time. A line of Mursak Helm Conner could be scray for other teams to play against. Looking at the lineup I just dont see how all these people can make the team. The only logical thing I can see happening is a trade coming because of the cap space and the large amount of forwards. Conner Emmerton and Brunnstrom will be in a dog fight for the 14th forward spot.

I asked this question on HFboards so I'll ask it here too. Its been speculated that HTD wants to make the jump after this season. So with his skills where they are at and being 24 now he should be fairly developed. If he were to make the jump right now what do people see his immediate offense being? Does 20 goals and 40 points sound likely? Also what kind of defense/physicality does he bring?

Dunno if this has been mentioned but Smith and Mccollum are both training with Gary Roberts this week in the biosteel sports camp Nice clip in there of Smith going one on one vs Cammy

Recently its gotta be Z D H but yeah GMR cant disagree with your assessment at all. As for another line to bring the excitement the grind line did? I'm thinking some combo of Sheahan Abdelkader Helm Mursak and Callahan ( my dark horse goes to Julien Cayer, potential fast skating enforcer with decent skills) will provide that and the talent level will be there as well. 1) I think a line of Mursak Helm Callahan could become REALLY fun to watch in the near future. 3 physical guys, all potential solid offensive players, all hit and 2 will be near the top of the league speed wise. The forecheck from that line would be a nightmare. Mursak is no softy either 2) Callahan Sheahan Abdelkader could be fun to watch as well. 3 of the more physical guys in our system, a great shut down defensive guy and all 3 have potential to get involved in the extra cirriculars that me and you both love gmr. With Callahan leading the way, Abdelkader is a solid guy to have his back, Sheahan is big and strong, physical, and has said he will be the type of guy to stick up for teammates when he has too. This could be a big, huge physical line that wears down other teams defenses and plays cut throat defense 3) Julien Cayer is a HUGE forward at 6'4 and is one of the better skaters in the system. He doesnt have rocks for hands but he doesnt put up a lot of points. He could maybe get a contract and come up as an enforcer type since he has the speed to skate with the team and hands to recieve and give a pass. Could be fun to watch a guy with his speed, mean streak and hitting ability in the wings lineup. Could really do some damage and if paired with a couple other fast/physical guy slike mentioned before, he could be the kocur/mcarty of one of the lines. An enforcer who can play well enough to play regularly

Its just a one week camp but hopefully its enough to help Smith figure out whta he has to do to be a force out there. Smith is a do it all type guy like Roberts was, he could hit, fight score, and would belong on anyones top line. Hopefully all these apects of Smiths game can be learned and rubbed off of from Roberts while hes there for a week. Edit: for the record, Biznasty is a beauty I would love to see him as the wings 13th forward. Mitch Callahan and himself were chirpin eachother the other day on twitter actually
-
Nah I just misread something, he is in fact on a 2 way but he still has NHL experience and provides an element the wings do not have a tonne of.
-
search matt stajan hit and youll see some huge hits but none by him lol
-
The wings finally have a defenseman who can do this and than follow it up with this if need be if Commodore can find his form again and become even a solid number 6 that can play a regular shift, the wings might have found a decent light heavyweight scrapper who can play a bit. I'm hoping he rubs off on guys like Ericcson and Abdelkader who know a 6'5, mean Canadian has their back that is willing to fight if he has too. It will probably help the team as a whole play a little more physical and gives the wings another defenseman who will force opponents to keep their head up.
-
Matt Stajan probably gets it worse
-
Well yeah we've got probably the hardest hitting d pairing in the league but that wasnt the point. The point was that neither of them will really defend their goalie or teammates. I mean I love Kronwall but do you think if Commdore is standing there while Crosby tries fighting Howard that he would sit by and watch? Thats the element Commodore has
-
Yeah he made a goof of himself on that play but you can also look at it as a guy who was on a bad team and was trying to spark them by throwing a huge hit and taking a guys head off. If he connects on that its lights out
-
well than how about this one youre probaly one of those guys super excited about Brunnstrom because hes skilled but dont think Commodore can return to number 3 defenseman on a cup team form Well of course GMR but top 5 heavies all time with the deadliest right hand of all time dont just fall into a team like Detroits lap. Gotta take what you can get sometimes lol and right nwo having a willing guy is as good as it gets
-
Last time we brought a guy like Nolan in (Drake) he was huge in a cup win. Nolan would be hungry because I'm pretty sure he has no cup and he could still be a third line scorer probably. Brunnstrom has busted, hes not young anymore and wasnt even good with the Marlies last year. I watched him play against the griffins enough. I would rather see Connor make the team
-
Bradley isnt just an enforcer. Detroit could use a guy like him since he can actually play. This quote reminds me of Roberts(?) talking about how Reichel would have his bags packed ready to go home as soon as playoffs started and how its hard to win with guys like that
