Kostitsen is a much more dangerous offensive player than Hudler despite what many would like to think. He also brings some size and physicality as well. If the question really is Hudler for Andrei straight up than yeah give me Andrei but I wouldnt trade a whole lot more for him. Emmerton or Miller maybe could be thrown into the mix

Who really cares. Its a great way for fans to grow attached to a certai player and its pretty cool to get a little insight like that. Brendan Smith also has it and I think he'll be a wing by the end of the season. Because Detroit has alot of Europeans who may not be the best with English may play a part in why they have few tweeters. All the North Americans on the team pretty much are older guys who didnt grow up with as much technology. Callahan, Sheahan, Parkes, Fournier, and Sproul all have accounts as well

Next Brent BUrns? He has the shot, size etc. Apparently he plays a bit physical but once he fills out he should be a good physical player. Hes grown 4 inches in about a year

Yeah because noone said trade for a 40 year old. If Kindl is traded for someone who is 26 and already established in the league as a defender, theres hardly any difference and it helps the chances of winning now. People need to realize that you have to give to get in trades and Kindl hasnt shown anything to say he will be anything special

I think with that much cap space its pretty obvious that Holland is lookng around for a trade. Anyone saying the wings d is set and fine with White replacing Rafalski... Yeah sure it might be solid, but why not add another top 4 and turn it into one of the top defenses in the league with how shady the wings d has been? Yeah its a good defense, but nothing that special really. Another guy of Whites calibre even to make the team deeper would make a huge difference

Emmerton doesnt really have muc offense. Hes a playmaker with skills that arent really good enough to be a top 6 guy. Playing with 4th liners will make his playmkaing pretty much useless. Hes a solid player down in GR but doesnt really stand out, Conner is apparently super quick though hwich is something this team lacks. Its hard to say but I really just see Emmerton going the way of Ritola because he doesnt have a real niche. The wings may have signed Conner just to insert some speed in thel ineup because theyve seen what Helm does out there and how it helps the team. They probably see it as potenitally putting Conner on a line with Mursak and drawing a tonne of penalties off of speed alone. It could work out that the wings have a real burner on every line which wuld give this team a nice change for once and help balance out the Bertuzzis and Holmstroms. I didnt vote because I dont know enough about Conner but from what I've seen in Emmerton watching probably about 25 GR games last year, he never really stands out in anything which doesnt bode well for an NHL career

Wouldnt mind him at all but I dont think theres room. A 26 year old, 6'2 player who was a first round pick. Hes put up around 30 points or so a year which wouldnt be bad even if he never turned into a scorer

Meh, 4 fights a year against very good fighters is still 4 more fights than most of the guys on the team now average. Its not really the fact that he hasnt fought much, its the fact that hes willing and whenever he needs to he will. With Columbus he didnt have to with Boll, Dorsett and Sestito to an extent always out there looking for fights. With Detroit if anyone gets cheapshotted or takes a whack at Howard, he'll be the one called on. ANd he is a borderline heavyweight that can take on most guys in the league. So what if he wont have 30 fights a year with 75% right after a faceoff, thats not what Detroit needs. They needed a guy who was willing to step in when cheapshots happen like when Stuart almost had his head removed and everyoen stodd around watching.

Commodore had 2 fights in 20 games with a team he didnt even wanna be on last year, that works out to 8 over a full season, and thats on a team that already has Boll and Dorsett doing alot of that dirty work. With the wings Commie will be the go to guy when it comes to fighting and I expect he will have around 10 next year. He knows the wings want him to be mean, they said it in the interview about the signing. To hold down a spot he'll be fighting. Knowing that a 6'5 mean Canadian has his back will probably let Abby go a little loose too and Ericcson will play with more balls knowing he isnt the only big guy on D who can scrap, trying to earn his paycheque. I think it will be surprising what kind of effect a guy like Commie will have on some of these guys

Never said he had a huge role but hatethedrake is calling these guys washed up talent that doesnt have a spot in the nhl basically. All I said was that these guys cant be that useless if theyre finding spots on teams that have been beating the wings. And signing useless talent like that worke out pretty well for the wings when they signed Drake.

Pretty much everyone was calling him useless here until the playoffs rolled around, he had 6 points all regular season and 40 pims. Thats a pretty useless stat line. Anyone who says they didnt tihnk he was useless in the reg season is a liar. Youre saying all these guys are useless that Chicago is signing, meanwhile they have all been played on other teams that have been doing better than the wings. Call them useless all you want but just because Detroit doesnt sign them doesnt mean more successful teams dont different seasons

Well considering Mayers was on the team that has beat the wings out 2 years in a row now, Carcillo and O'Donnel have been to the cup finals more recently than any redwings and Montador is a very solid player who is tough and can put up 30 points from the backend. I mean sure you might be one of those guys that has no clue and thinks physicality and meanness have no effect in the playoffs, but I'm not. Was Dallas Drake a washed up has been? Yup, but look what he did come playoff time.

Long time no see drake, but if you keep on bringing info like this to the table than keep coming back... I really hope this is true and that a trade or two will be made. Hudler for Hedberg and David Clarkson maybe? I would like that one, get another Mccarty and a solid backup

Yeah when May was dressed guys like Meech, Cleary and Eaves (who isnt a bad little scrapper actually) were scrapping knowing they had a guy to back them up. Now if Smith is up next year, coupled with Commodore, Abby and Ericcson the wings might finally be at a point where they arent bing pushed around anymore because with a crew like that other guys like Eaves will play tougher hockey for sure. I'm hoping Commie saying he has a lot to prove and he is going to be working out hard this summer is true and that he comes out hitting everything that moves, blocking shots and fighting a good amount.

Franson is a good young defenseman but he isnt exactly a stud either. Hes a PP specialist but he was still the 6th defenseman on Nashville. He plays no shorthanded time and plays 15 minutes a night. Sure hes a good young player but looks to be a number 4 defenseman, he sint good in his own zone at all

White is actually a pretty physical player though and can handle himself in a fight. He will be one of the first guys to back up a teammate and jump into a scrum, something the wings could definitely use. He will clear the crease too which is niec to have. Definitely not a big bruiser but hes no ***** either. Add Commodore on top of that with Stuart already and the wings defense is quite a bit tougher this year

Switch Hudler with Filppula and I think that could probably get the deal done. I just dont see Hudler having the trade value at all. Maybe you throw Flip and Hudler and get an ok prospect or something back as well.

Wow seems like a lot of people are really down on Commodore. He had a bad season people where he got waived and now all of a sudden noone thinks he is even capable of staying out of the pressbox? The guy still played almost 20 mins a night the last few years when he was in the lineup, almost 3 minutes a night short handed, and is much better offensively than Salei. Sure Commodore isnt super fast but hes just as good of a skater as Salei, is used to playing 19 minutes a night compared to Saleis 16, plays more pk time and is a big, mean player who can hit hard and will fight light heavyweights. He is basically salei with more offense and a much bigger mean streak. Just bec ause he tried to take a wings player head off and fell into the bench doesnt mean hes a god awful player. At least he has that mean streak to go and try to light a guy up like that. Not to mention prior to going to CBJ, Commodore was one of the better stay at home types in the league playing a big part in 2 cup runs for Carolina and Calgary. If theres a team that can help him find that form again, its Detroit. Look what they did with Lilja who was a similar guy, who was even worse than Commy when he came to Detroit. People need to give him a chance instead of watching him fly into the bench on one youtube video to decide hes a bum. When he does this to tools like avery everyone will sing a different tune.. or stiicks up for the goalie like this Not to mention guys liek Ericcson and abdelkader will play tougher because they know a 6'5 Canadian mean SOB will be backing them up
