Leighton doesnt have the groin of a 40 year old though either. Hes had an injuyr filled season but hes no Dipietro, I dont see why he couldnt bounce back

1) Abby has a history as a playoff performer in the AHL and college as well and has shown it the last 2 playoffs hes been in that he steps up. Until he doesn't perform in the playoffs in these high level leagues I will consider him a guy that steps up come playoff time. 2) You dont think other teams might be putting their top D out against the Mule come playoff time? All teams know how he plays now come playoff time and I remember the last while he has been getting matched up with other teams top D, not Zetterberg 3) Abby has just been put on this line and is now producing, he has hands around the net and would be the net crasher for that line. He hasn't been able to score this year playing with guys like Drapes and Miller on the 4th line or when hes been at center. He has always performed on scoring lines and With the way Franzen and Bert play in the playoffs he'll be able to score

The thing about that line though is that its 3 guys who elevate their play magnificently come playoff time. They are also huge and 2 of them are capable of taking over a game physicaly while the other usually takes over every game in the playoffs. 3 guys this size would be killer to other teams D, and other teams top defenseman would be matched with them so Abby could run them through the boards every shift and wear down the other teams top defenseman instead of their number 5 and 6 if hes on the 4th line.

Leighton would be a really good option actually for next season as Howards backup. He has experience and really played well through the playoffs last season, he also has the finals experience and would be really cheap. You couldn't ask for much more out of a backup especially at that price, I hope Kenny takes a long look at this since Ozzie can't be relied on to stay healthy any longer

Whoever picks him up cat play him this year and will have an 800,000 cap hit for next season. The wings could pick him up for a cheap backup for Howard next year

Ever since he was moved to wing and everyone has been healthy he finally looks like he is playing physical again. The last few games hes had at least one big run at someone. He really is better suited to play wing and hopefully he stays there from here on out

I was more responded to the post you quoted then yours itself. This is more directed at Carman, you talk about how fighting plays no role in the game then go on to talk about how Lucic cost his team the game with a fight? It obviously plays a part in the game if that was what cost them. It seems like when there is a fight that is in favor of the wings, its "Oh Bertuzzi didnt sway the momentum, it didnt actually play a role" but then when it can help you prove that fighting is dumb its "Oh yeah that fight played a huge negative outcome on the game". Which one is it?

So because a guy on another team got in a fight at a bad time that means all the wings would pick bad times and cost the team the game? Well I'm sure none of you guys who always complain about fighting were complaining when Bert sparked the team to a win

Forward - Perry maybe? Put him with Datsyuk and watch them light it up. Loooch wouldnt be bad either I must say. Defense - Weber. He sets the tone for games with his physicality and is just a good young defender. Goalie - King Henrik is pretty good for the Rags, Carey Price is my choice though because of age and he has some swagger

You can say that about anyone. Eaves can score some goals for a grinder is the same as saying Rosehill is a good hitter for a fighter. Obviously Abdelkader is better, but Rosehill is a big hitter and is a career 4th liner. Abdelkader has scoring line upside. A better comparison is someone like Rosehill and Miller

Once again you prove you dont know much. Rosehill can skate foor a fighter and throws big hits often. He hits just as much as Abdelkader does in the grand scheme of things and fights a pretty good as well. Shane O'Brien is a solid number 5 or 6 defenseman, better then Salei for sure. Just because you only see O'brien play against the wings doesn't mean hes like htat against every other team. Hes only got 83 pims this year 2 more then Ericsson while playing a tougher game then Ericsson. Educate yourself

Rosehill is an awful example coming off last nights game against Ottawa, the leafs have also almost managed to squeak into playoffs and are playing pretty good hockey since he has been in their line up. O'Brien has all of 3 fights before last nights game, and he is a solid defenseman as well. Using these guys as examples really makes me think you have no idea what youre talking about

Yeah haha I wasnt sure if you were or not but it gets frustrating sometimes when theres people on here who are like "Oh Newfy, big enforcer slappy." I'm a tough hockey advocate, not necessarily a 5 minute per game goon, but having 3 Abdelkaders in your bottom lines instead of guys like Miller and Modano is more useful to a team in my opinion.

Hes still young, I see him being that guy 2 years down the road. Especially if he plays the PP net front role because he has a scoring touch around the net, as you can see with his 2 goals tonight
