Amen Bert ejected last game for a borderline huge hit, now 2 fights in 1 game where he pumped the guy twice. Where has this guy been all season lol?
-
It was about time these 2 went at it, theyre always jawing at eachother and this little rivalry has been going on at least since last year. I remmeber they dropped the gloves last year but it was broken up before they could go. I'm surprised Bert did as well as he did, O'Brien isnt a bad fighter at all and Bertuzzi is pretty rusty in that regard, THE MANS STILL GOT IT EDIT: Anyone know what sparked the first fight, I missed the first period and didnt actually see it, this video doesn't really show much either. I know theyve had ahistory of not liking eachother but did O'Brien take a run at someone or something?

I wouldnt wanna play against a line of Franzen Bert and Abby as a defenseman. It seems like Abby has a scoring touch but cannot really create his own offense. When he is put with more creative players he can finish chances, but with guys ike Helm and Eaves he cant really. This is why I think when Homer is gone he should be groomed for that net front role on the PP, he could score 25 a season

Clowe is an absolute beast, if he played for an 06 team instead of out on the west coast he would get even more love then Lucic does

You might have me confused with someone else because I have never wanted the wings to sign a straight up goon enforcer. I've wanted them to fill out the bottom lines with guys like Abby instead of Miller and guys who will fight occasionally but have never once said I want the wings to sign a guy who is a straight up enforcer. I do however know that enforcers have a role in the game, but lets not turn this into an enforcer argument. I'm talking about fights, regardless of who has them, enforcer or not.. They can shift momentum in games and aren't as useless as some posters here seem to think for some reason
-
That boarding call on the hit on Erat was bulls*** by the way. Just a good , huge hit
-
No ive seen it brought up here countless times that fights dont have an affect on momentum or anything and that it is completely pointless. I'm sure youre not in that group of people and are fine with fighters if they can play the game, but that is not the case for everyone. It gets brought up alot. When Carcillo and Talbot fought, all the pens fans point to that as the turning point. Same with 07 I believe when Beachamin fought Iggy. There will still be people that fighting serves no purpose, but games like these happen constantly and go against that thought process

2 goals in a 3-0 comeback and a few big hits. ALso getting in peoples faces and not backing down.. where was this all season? Oh well I still love it
-
Yeah he takes flack for not fighting heavyweights, but has a fightcard with guys like Orr and Ivanans on it. For a guy who is the leading scorer on his team, even givingthose guys the time of day isn't really necessary. Add onto the fact that he is what, 21? Give him a few years to get his feet wet and maybe he'll be fighting the big heavyweights more often once he matures a bit
-
On the WHL website you can watch highlights of all the playoff games so far. Callahan actually has some really soft hands, he has some nice goals in those highlights
-
Yeah having guys like Salei and Bertuzzit aking stupid penalties is way better the having two players go off for 5 minutes and not leave the team shorthanded. He takes more grief then he should. Hes fought some legit heavies like Orr and Ivanans, but its not like every single player Shanny fought was a big, huge heavyweight. When youre the leading scorer on your team you should spot pick, and this is coming from a guy whose considered an enforcer slappy on these boards

I personally dont ever see a girl playing in the NHL. And before I get my head torn off for being sexist, to me its the science behind it all. The muscle structure, bone structure etc is all just different in girls which at that high of a level is really a huge difference maker. You can have all the talent in the world but if youre not hitting the gym and bulking up, youre not going far at all. I dont see it happening EDIT: whats this league shes playing in? Is it actually a good highschool league like Minnesota highschool or just some random highschool league?
-
I've been watching the griffins a lot this year and how similar he plays to Kronwall is kind of scary. he only difference is, Smith has more edge to his game and is meaner
-
Well thats what they say but I'm pretty sure he would've had more then that. The way penalties were called back then he was probably in scrums all the time drilling guys in the head with no call etc. And anyways, the original gordie howe hatrick was an elbowing penalty, not a fighting major
-
Aside from it affecting the vision of the player and also not always preventing injury but causing some you mean?
-
Less skilled then Kopecky? He already skates better, is meaner, has better balance and i woulda say much better hands. Some people are saying hes a grinder already because he hasnt produced huge in his first full NHL season. He is showing more offensive promise then what Helm was in his first full season. Also dont forget Abby is probably the next big body getting PP time infront of the net, he'll produce more there
-
Yeah it kind of reminds me of Helm in that way. Came up, played a year and couldnt do much but check and skate hard, now hes finally breaking out a bit. I'm thinking a similar thing can happen for Abby next season with a good year under his belt. This is why I kind of wonder if the overripe thing is really always best, it still takes a year or so adjustment period and you lose out on a lot of prime years for some players

Bertuzzi Suspension Prediction/ No Suspension Per League
newfy replied to stevkrause's topic in General
I dont think hell get anything, the refs made a good on ice call the way the elbow went up and the way theyre trying to get rid of headshots but on further review there really isnt big contact with the head and its not the primary point of contact. Also not blind side. Whats more important is that the last few games Bert has been throwing the weight around, a sign of things to come for playoffs I hope ! -
I saw someone on HF boards saying Abby had another big hit again tonight (I missed it), from the parts of the game I saw he looked to be throwing around the body once again
-
Just in time for playoffs, where players like him usually thrive might I add

Seatbelts are completely different and irrelevant. There were people who did not want helmets to become mandatory, and I can see why they forced them on people. Wearing ahelmet has no affect on your game play or anything, it just sits on your head and you dont even notice it. Visors can however actually affect how you play. Your vision is affected despite what some people want to think. If the puck is in your feet its especially bad and they can fog up etc. The reason some players dont wanna wear them is because it does hurt your on ice vision, try playing with and without one and youll see the difference yourself.

I used to have sting season tickets but until the Ciccarrellis but out a little bit that team will never win. Its a shame, they have next years first overall pick and another top 5 pick to build around. Yakupov beat Stamkos's rookie scoring record for the sting

I was wondering how long it would take you to find this thread. You haven't been around much lately. Must be proud about Abby ditching the lid? I know thats a pet peeve of yours

Yeah youre right London is about the dividing line, anywhere North of that and its leafs nation. Anywhere below London though its probably pretty close to 50/50. I'm from Chatham so there is a good number of wings fans and leafs fans. Constant chirping and hatred for both teams, I must say its pretty fun to be a part of though, especially being on the wings side haha
