No kidding man, and it gets annoying hearing leafs fans talk about how he is going to get traded for sure and hearing all the trades. There are die hard leafs fans convinced they are going to get Brad Richards and Jamie Benn for Kadri and Kaberle here. Being a wings fan at University in leafs nation can get tiresome sometimes
-
Good trade for the leafs. Gardiner is a really good prospect and if Lupul gets healthy and playing well then this could turn out to be a steal. Beauch was junk in TO anyways
-
I was lurking around over at RWC and noticed that there was a topic saying Maltby has been watching the Edmonton Oilers for the last few games? Possible trade there? Also a pro scout from the wings was at the Blues Edmonton game the other night. Maybe they are looking at Conklin? We could see Hudler going for Conklin and something or maybe a stay at home defenceman like Barret Jackman is being looked at. Or are they scouting the oilers? They have some solid defenceman like Smid. Anyone think this might have some weight to it or just typical scouting that is done a lot? Edit: I guess this should be in the rumour mill, move it if you must

Junland seems just like a Kindl type prospect. Not something we really need, we would be able to get him before Sonne I think though. The blues have a "ton" of depth at centre and with Schwartz being a future number one center possibly we might have a shot at Sonne. I dont know, I think Junland is redundant in the wings system
-
No but if there is a deal there will have to be salary leaving the wings, so it seems like Huds is probably the one out if they do make a deal. It just seems the most realistic to me. Hudler has been playing great lately but all this was just speculation from the article I saw. I think this team would be better off with someone else then Hudler but im not that big of a hater that I think Conklin is worth trading Huds for. Conklin and a guy like Cole or Sonne would be worth it in my opinion. It does seem like wings scouts are getting out and about, and I dont remember the wings ever having this much talk around the deadline for a while. Seems like something really could be brewing here

Give me Cam Ward every day of the week and twice on Sundays. He pretty much won the cup for Carolina that year, they had an aged Brind Amour and a young Staal. Ward is always lights out when it matters, if he was on a team like Detroit or Pitty he would probably be the top goalie in the league
-
Something meaning a decent pick or prospect. Maybe Ian Cole? A solid, physical defensive defenceman type prospect. St. Louis has a tonne of good prospects, I would love to get a hold of Brett Sonne if we could, he could develop into a Brendan Morrow type. I would do Hudler and a 4th for Conklin and Sonne maybe
-
Hey now, cut Drake some slack he hasn't been around lately. Probably a little rusty on the prospects thats for sure
-
Pulkinnen is actually up around 185 or 190 pounds, he doesn't need muscle really, he needs to increase his foot speed. I also dont think he is ready for the AHL, this is his first season in a while where he hasn't been hurt, he should build off of that and then come to NA where it is rougher and tougher on him. Wouldn't want one of our top prospects coming over to early and gettng hurt because of it
-
If its me I send Miller to rangers with a pick or prospect for Prust. We get better depth scoring and a mean streak in the lineup that can lay out some bodies and drop the gloves. Our secondary scoring gets a boost and we already have plenty of guys who can kill a penalty as well as Miller does.
-
I can see them going for Kovalev. He has played there in the past and with his skillset can do some damage when he wants too. Ottawa are also going to be sellers at the deadline and Pitty will want to do their best to gear up for a big run to the cup
-
Every other Stevens hit was to the head lol
-
Exactly, it was east west but Sawada was skating east west as well. I'm all for this rule but not letting players with their head down get off the hook.
-
Oh well the balance is impressive but to me the more impressive thing is a 190 pound rookie who hasnt had a hockey fight in at least 3 years, taking on a legit AHL goon and doing enough to get a win. To each their own I guess
-
And you gotta remember that fight is against a legit 25 fights a year AHL goon. This was Smiths first pro fight after coming out of college and having no fighting in his league (except at house parties ), imagine how well this guy will fight with 5 years experience under his belt in the pros and adding soem size to his frame. 50 point defenceman with a legit mean streak, I cant wait
-
Smith is 6'2 and just a bit under 200 pounds, he has some room to fill out and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the 215 range 3 years from now. He definitely has the size to be a more devastating hitter then Kronwall. Getting to elarn from Stuart and Kroner will help his hitting alot too I would think. And there were people who wanted Petrecki...
-
HAHA yeah well I think so anyways since they are so similar now. But I actually have higher hopes for Smith, he is meaner then Kronwall and could be an even harder hitter 5 years down the road. Kronwall hits hard but Smith loves being a mean, competitive guy. He is dirtier infront of the net with his stick and in the corners and is also a pretty good fighter (his brother is an amazing tough guy, Rory Smith check him out). But they have similar games too. Smith has great hands and offensive ability with a hard point shot, and both have some very questionable games in their own zones. Hes so much like Kronwall its weird

Kronwall that fights is in our system right here. Very similar players

Mike Brown Signs 3 Year Extension With Toronto
newfy replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Great signing for Toronto. They get a solid PKer who can lay guys out, fight and is extremely fast. Would like to see Brown in Detroits lineup -
Callahan now has 46 points in 45 games, wow looking like a really good late round pick. He had a really good fight last night as well, he has 7 on the year but that was his first in a while
-
Mursak has 23 points in 33 games with GR this season. When the team was playing well he was playing at ppg pace. He kills penalties, can throw a hit, has blazing speed and is pretty feisty actually. He is basically a Helm with hands and a scoring touch style wise. So I'm wondering what everyone here is expecting from him durign his stint with the big club. I think he will actually put up some points and might get some pk time as well depending on the game. Babcock will probably ease him in tonight but as his stint goes on he will get some more responsibility. I have a feeling this call up is going to be the last we see of Hudler and Mursak might end up playing with the team (especially come playoff time if Hudler is still around). In the future I think he'll be good for around 50-60ish points, strong PK and some decent physical play. What do you guys think?

2/2 GDT: Franzen 5 + Red Wings 2 (7) at Senators (5)
newfy replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Good to have that Newf back in the lineup I must say, its an awful nice day for a couple a goals Cleary B'ye so work your tail off. -
Seems that he is finding more balance in his game instead of just playing strictly shut down defense, earlier reports were saying he was almost like a 3rd defenseman but 10 points in 10 games is telling me he isn't playing that defensive anymore
-
10 points in 10 games since his dominating performance at the world junior camp, he is 2 points off last seasons Total already with over 10 games to go.... This is the production we've been hoping for !
