Well its funny, theres 2 of us in this thread that think you would say something like that. Hmm maybe you dont realize how you come across when you post or something? And yeah I know thats clever, way better then your gold star schtick eh
-
Youve said plenty that makes you come across that way. I didn't start posting here yesterday, dont try to pull the old "I have never said that in this thread, show me my post" crap. You've always posted things that imply you think like that, even if you haven't came right out and said it. You win a grammy for this performance youre trying to put on right here, and thats better then my gold star

Name Me a Better 2-Way Player Today than Henrik Zetterberg…
newfy replied to zetterbergfan's topic in General
I post on both. HF is way better for discussing prospects, grand rapids and there is much less homerism because fans of other teams can chime in. Sometimes the homerism here gets sickening and makes it hard to have a real hockey talk. Here I think there is a lot better talk about the actual wings and their organization which is good too. I dont really like one more then the other, but I do think the people who say "Oh this one is garbage blah blah blah" havent really gave the other a fair shake or dont really know what theyre talking about. -

Z has shutdown Crosby sure but Kesler hasn't really had a shot at that yet. Other then that, Z doesn't really have that hard of matchups really. Him and Datsyuk usually line match not just Z by himself -

I came in here to say this. Datsyuk to me is the best and on his own tier but Zetterberg is not untouchable thats for sure. Kesler is pretty even with him in my eyes, same with Koivu, and all these guys are pretty even offensively with him as well. There will probably be a lot of homer types in here that say Zettererberg and Datsyuk are by far the best but thats not really true. Kesler is damn good and so is Koivu. Mike Richards is no slouch either, same with Toews. Zetterberg is still great though -
Yup, the draft is probably my favourite time of year, besides the playoffs obviously. I love following the prospects and everything. When the wings have a first round pick I love all the mock drafts and stuff. If the wings didn't have one I would probably not even follow it

Yeah F Micheal is suck an idiot for thinking you were serious when you said that, you haven't ever posted anything in this thread to make it seem like you think that
-
He had a fight or 2 in the AHL as well if I'm not mistaken
-
This is true. Armstrong is not a really innocent player here or anything its not like he suckered Marty St. Louis. Armstrong has a history of headhunting and running his mouth quite a bit and not dropping the gloves to back it up. It doesn't justify a suckerpunch but I'm sure Eager was provoked, Armstrong will probably b more careful next time he's chirping
-
Yeah and maybe that cut made him realize he needs to put up some points and kind of put him in his place a bit. Either way, what we're seeing is good. One of the best defensive forward prospects in the entire NHL is starting to put up some points. Hes our version of Getzlaf I hope
-
Haha yeah streaky is an understatement even. But the fact that he lit up the junior camp and came back and carried on that production is a very good sign and does kind of show maybe a bit more confidence. Really over his last 6 games or so counting the junior camp he has like over 10 points
-
This time I am necromancing it for good reason. Sheahan has scored his first goal of the season :siren: as well as 3 assists in that same game. In 2 games (I think, maybe 3) since being back from the junior camp he has a goal and 4 assists. Is his confidence up and he is finally getting his offense going? I sure hope so
-
A blindside elbow to the head is not something that is part of the game, but I'm sure our 2 minute PP really got Kostopolous thinking about his actions Even the small suspensiion he"l get if he gets one, he'll still be out there doing the exact same s***

Yeah concussions aren't fun, I got hit so hard one time in football that I had a bunch of vertebrae out of place and a concussion. So what we all should really be asking cindy is, what hurts worse? A concussion or his butt when Bettman well.. you know
-
I expect a big win tonight and a "good game" from Jimmy. A win by at least 3 goals is what I want, Iginla will have a meltdown probably and finally fight one of the wings like he has been trying to all season. First he dropped em with Stuart and the linesman came in, then next game with Abdelkader. LET THEM GO REF

I'm guessing there will be a happy ending to this story for someone
-
I think so too. If they come over after next season they will probably be in the AHL but see call ups every now and then. Its looking like Pulu will be NHL ready quicker because he has already put on the weight necessary but Jarnkrok is still pretty light. We should get at least 1 first line 70 point player out of pulu, krok, tatar and nyquist I hope. If we don't I will be really disappointed. Then between Sheahan and Mursak I'm hoping for at least one guy who can be a solid second line contributor. That would give us some good players who can be added too through free agency or future drafts

You actually think russias best could beat the team tane listed?
-
You honestly think over the last few years it is arrogant of a Canadian to say we should probably win this world junior? Last 7 years 5 gold, 1 silver where they lost by a goal and 1 silver where they lost by 2 goals. That isn't arrogance that is probability. Why is this so hard to understand for some people. How can you not say looking at those stats that Canada should win the tournament and are favourites to win? Am I missing something here?
-
Fair enough, luckily there isn't another world junior for another year so we wont have this argument for a while again haha. And my posts were not directly pointed at you. You and Konnan were a couple fo the only ones that explained your stance and it is refreshing to hear it, instead of the usual LGW bulls*** of oh theyre arrogant and cocky, but as soon as I bring up valid points, no one seems to fast to counter them except for you. I personally expect Canada to medal in every hockey tournament they play in. These expectations I'm sure are not off and I dont think it is arrogant to think so. This is one last point I want to clear up, Canadians dont think they own hockey. Canadians think they are the best at it, and I dont think this statement is wrong over the course of time. Same with football in the states, Lacrosse in Canada, Brazil in soccer etc. Certain countries are just dominant in certain sports and Canada is the country that dominates hockey the most.
-
No its not that we should clearly win every tournament. But what I dont get is why Canadians are considered arrogant for thinking they should win most hockey tournaments they enter. Look at the stats. Its been said in this thread, look at all the wins Canada has compared to other countries, they won 5 world juniors in a row and then Canadians get called arrogant for expected to win the tournament. If the states won 5 in a row you guys wouldn't go into the next tournament expecting to win? The states won last year and most Americans thought they had this tourney pretty well in the bag. I have never said canada should win every tournament because we own the sport or anything like that. But I do expect them to finish well and anything that is less then gold is a disappointment because of their track ercord in these tourneys. Canadians should not be called arrogant for expecting to win gold every tournament or at least medal. Canadians expect it because they usually do in fact medal. This is why I dont get the whole Canadians are arrogant thing, what is arrogant about expecting to win because you usually do? Its just annoying constantly hearing oh those arrogant Canadians and frustrating when they usually do. Leading into Vancouver Canadians thought we were gonna win and were called arrogant for thinking that, but then we won. So is it arrogant or just maybe Canadian teams do in fact do pretty well most tourneys
-
Finally an American who doesn't just say youre arrogant and has an argument. While these are good points, Russia sent professionals to every olympics while no other country could until 1998 in Nagano. Since Nagano Canada has 50% of the gold medals. For the worlds, russia has the KHL where some great players play and can all be sent. Canada's best forward usually sent to the worlds is Shane Doan and usually another player of around that calibre. Russia sends most of their best players to that tourney. With a level playing field in the juniors (not even that fair) and olympics, Canada has the edge in my mind by quite a bit
-
Yeah theres 3 pages in here of Americans saying "Oh I'm glad those arrogant Canadians lost". But yeah as soon as I make a statement about why Canadians should in fact expect their teams to win every tournament, all you have to say is come off it. So now tell me why exactly Canadians are arrogant for expecting to win when they enter these tournaments? Until then youre just an arrogant American jealous that Canadians are consistently a favourite in every IIHF tournament.
-
Its funny you couldn't argue any of that though, especially being one of the ones complaining that Canadians are too arrogant and shouldn't have a claim to being the best at the sport. 1. Yeah they were the favourites and if you are really that dense then I will spell it out for you. Would anyone in this tourney have that much of a chance with Jeff Skinner, Seguin, Duchene, Kyle Clifford etc on the team? Young Canadians actually make the NHL when they are still eligible, yeah this sounds like excuses but its pretty obvious this team would be the heavy favourites with all these players. 2. I was making a point that one little state has more population then all of Canada. Canada has way less people but still a way greater number of players in the NHL. 3. So you are saying it is a Canadian sport? Well why are Canadians arrogant for saying it but you turn around and say it too? A little weird to complain Canadians say it is their sport then you just repeat what they say isn't it? 4. Why shouldn't Canadians think they should win? I didn't think they would win this year but I dont see why others shouldn't? We won 5 world juniors in a row and only one time sent our best possible team, have 2 olympic golds the last 3 olympics and have the most world junior championships. I dont see how Americans dont think Canadians have a sense that when we go into a tournament we should win? Yeah every now and then they lose, but that happens in every sport. The Wings lost in 09, does that make the pens the best team of the last 20 years?
-
No they didn't, but America came in as the heavy favourites and were destroyed on home ice by Canada. You know there is good reason that Canada thinks hockey is its sport right? Eventhough the state of California alone has a bigger population then Canada, Canada has more NHLers then the states, more world junior championships then any country without sending their best team possible every year, invented the sport, have the top 10 greatest players of all time arguably etc etc. I hate seeing the arrogance of Americans trying to say it isn't Canada's sport. What the hell has America done to make them just as good as Canada at hockey? No Canadians think other nations shouldn't be playing hockey but to say any other nation really has a claim to being better then Canada is the arrogance of Americans. I could sit here and say Basketball is a Canadian sport because it was invented by a Canadian and Steve Nash has won some MVPs but that would make me look very arrogant. The same as when Americans complain that Canadians think they are the best at hockey. I dare anyone on here to try to make an argument as to why another country is better then Canada at hockey, I guarantee it'll be shot down. Yeah I'm being "arrogant" and maybe cocky but I'm sick of hearing people say Canadians are arrogant for thinking they are the best hockey country
