I go to fight sites plenty and youre right about everyone hating him. But to me the ones who hate Lucic are the old dinosaurs who expect anyone who fights to fight guys like Orr (which looch did) or Boogard. Lucic is a top 6 player not an enforcer, he really shouldn't fight guys unless they are top 6 players or a contributor in some way like Clarkson for example. Stepping up and fighting Orr did absolutely nothing for him or his team. Lucic doesn't fight a tonne of tough guys but he does fight and sticks up for himself and his team when he needs to. He gets way more hate then he deserves

I didnt mind seeing a brawl like that, it happens sometimes its just good old time hockey. If it was after a clean hit I could see the reasoning behind why you wouldn't like it but that hit really didnt look clean to me. Got his hands up pretty high if you ask me

Actually Tardif wouldn't be bad. They should throw the guy a bone for being down and playing for grand rapids for so long. He has always produced and would actually be a good 13th forward for the wings. Iflip can continue tearing up down there and we get some jam in the lineup that can be happy sitting in the press box

This is what I think too. It would kind of go against the wings loyalty to their players to just call up the old guy who has played half a season in Grand Rapids when Mursak is playing just as good offensively, and is younger. Plus I think Mursak is better s uited for playing the fourth line type role if he has too while other guys from the current roster get their roles boosted. Mursak can play a rough and tumble energy role, thats somethingI dont think Iflip can do.

Yeah ill give him that, but it was his only decent fight to his name and he still came out on the losing side probably. Godd bottom 6 forward just fighting isnt his thing

They dont have to be quite as good as Abdelkader. I see a guy like Zenon Konopka who is playing great hockey and is also one of the toughest guys in the league. He could've been had for below 1 million on our 4th line this offseason and our team would look better to me then it does now. Guys like that aren't that hard to find, Dallas Drake is another great example. The wings just have a back log of bottom 6ers who to me dont offer that much like Miller. If you switch a redundant guy like that with someone like Konopka I think our team benefits greatly. I like Eaves but dont try to talk up that he fights.. We are talking about the same Eaves who has got his ass kicked by Miro Satan and Glen Metropolit here...

Yeah back then we had effective Maltby adn Drapers still who were fairly gritty. Eaves is ok in my books, Miller should go and be replaced with someone who can do what he does and provide a physical presence. You honestly dont think if Miller was replaced by a guy who played like Abdelkader our team wouldn't be even a little better going into playoffs?

Crombeen is one of my favourite players in the league. I would take him on the wings any day. Yeah Abdelkader has looked like his experience is finally helping him. His balance has improved, I thought he was gonna go down like 3 times before he actually did. He didn't jump the gun and throw himself off balance with a wild punch and in the end he beat a solid established middle weight that has about 10 years of fighting experience on him. 2 years from now Abby will be a very solid middleweight fighter, just out of the NCAA he doesn't have much experience and it hurts him jumping into pros with fighting. Same with Smith, I think he has potential to go with light heavy weights when he gets some practice in, only time will tell though.

Maybe you should try geting some facts in that head of yours to replace your love affair with Hudler and youll be taken seriously (might be a little late though). Abdelkader and Ericcson will fight and Ericcson is a pretty solid scrapper if he would fight more. The jury is still out on Abdelkader, he'll probably fight like 5 or 6 times but he is a middleweight at best But Salei is down right laughable. Hes 36 (ish) and has like 2 fights in his career and he didnt win any. Get your facts straight

Toronto has a tough team but they aren't scaring anyone like your typical Burke team for sure. The sad part is if Rosehill got out of Toronto he would be one of the best hockey playing fighters in the league. He isn't the toughest fighter, he can handle himself against heavyweights though and he is a fast skater who can hit hard. I would like him in Detroit, him and Abby could be a good 1,2 punch since Abby wins fights now haha

They havent, basically the only time Rosehill is is in is if Orr or Brown are going to miss a game. Rosehill can go with the heavies and will fight middlweights so he can fill in both roles.

I think Eaves gets no more then 1 mil if he stays. We have guys like Mursak and Owens who could come up and play the exact same role as he does for a lower price. Hell, he might not even be offered a contract because we need room for these young guys coming up

No I dont actually even want a useless enforcer on this team so thats where youre wrong. I want a bottom 6 filled out with guys that play like Abdelkader, not Drew Miller. I just think its dumb when guys like you call fighters useless when Detroit is pretty much the only team that doesn't have one, and everytime we've won the cup we've had one o our team lol If you want we can go back to the start of the year where I (along with a few others) was saying we should trade Hudler and you were calling anyone who thought that we should an idiot pretty much. And we've both been posting here long enough to know that, while in this thread you haven't called enforcers useless, you have countless other times Lang also had more natural talent. People really overrate Hudlers talent level. He has great vision and passing skills, but Lang had better and Hudler is nothing that far out of the ordinary in those areas. Lang wasn't ridiculously weak either

Add Boulton to the list, he scored 3 times as many goals as Hudler has all season tonight against the devils, but god knows the wings cant have an enforcer hahaha. The same people who say a fighter is a waste of a spot on the 4th line are the guys who defend Hudler

I just want to point out that Probert was also basically a hometown boy since he was from Windsor. Same situation as Chelios, was traded when he didn't wanna be and whenever he came back to Detroit he got standing ovations watch this and youll see the only person who get s abigger ovation then Probie is Vladdy.. So dont say Detroit would do the same because they wouldn't, in fact they do the exact opposite. Came in here to say this line. Gillies can go with anyone in the league at all, Konopka is a legit heavyweight and Matt Martin can go with msot light heavyweights and is a very good middle weight. My money is on this line as the toughest in the league. I would like to see Detroit trade Hudler for Martin now that I think about it. He's a pretty good player and hits like a truck. Hes not just a goon, he can be a solid third liner some day

Given his camp he should've been on that team but he hasn't scored a goal all year is the problem. They probably had a lot of spots picked but had some minor things to decide. He shoulda been on the roster though, even as the 13th over someone like Carter Ashton. Oh well maybe this makes him realize he needs to put some pucks in the net now which wouldn't be too bad either. He's huge btw did you see the highlights of the games? His shoulders are broad as hell and hes pretty damn tall. Built like a true power forward

Depending on how Smith does in the minors this year and where his game is we could see him up to replace Salei. I dont think we have Modano, Hudler, Miller, Ozzie, and Salei depends on how Smith looks. He may get another one year deal. Hudler is replaced by Mursak Modano by Emmerton Miller may be replaced by Owens or another guy. I just dont see him here anymore Ozzie retiring leaves that spot up for grabs, who knows if they give larson a shot or what. If Lidstrom retires then first priority isnt going to be reaplcing by committee, Holland is going to go after a stud back there. I dont know who but he isn't just going to hope Kindl and Ericcson up their games to relpace him by committee

I cant really blame the coaches though. I wanted him to make it as bad as anyone and he had a great camp but 6 assists all season is a little low to risk taking him at the same time. They werent at a shortage of big, physical centerman either that can play defensive. Oh well, he's still my favourite prospect along with Callahan and hopefully that camp wont be the last showinng of his offensive abilities this season
