Realistically - Chances that Holland makes a deadline move?
newfy replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Holland will acquire someone if Modano can't come back. He wont want Abdelkader centering the third line. If we can get a solid third line center for some mixture of Hudler, Kindl or picks I'm sure Holland does it. This team can win the cup this year and I dont think he would want to come close without actually winning. It all depends on the Modano situation, especially if Hudler doesn't pick it up he wont wanna rely on just what we have now. -
Well I'm at school in St Catharines, so hopefully I see him at that pub crawl. Wouldn't mind hearing a story or two haha
-
I won't be cheering for USA in any way shape or form but I will be cheering for Callahan whenever he isn't playing Canada. We'll get to see how rough this guy really plays. I'm not gonna lie I wouldn't mind seeing a minor injury that results in Sheahan getting called back to team Canada

The griffins have been horrible. They have 3 goals their last 7 games, seem like they dont like it either, check this 3 - GR Amadio, 3:29 - Fighting , 5 min 3 - TOR Rosehill, 3:29 - Fighting , 5 min 3 - GR Straub, 3:39 - Roughing , 2 min 3 - GR Straub, 3:39 - Fighting , 5 min 3 - TOR Richmond, 3:39 - Slashing , 2 min 3 - TOR Richmond, 3:39 - Fighting , 5 min 3 - TOR Zigomanis, 5:09 - Cross-checking , 2 min (PP) 3 - GR Pare, 5:45 - Game misconduct , 10 min 3 - GR Smith, 5:45 - Roughing , 2 min (PP) 3 - GR Smith, 5:45 - Slashing , 2 min 3 - GR Smith, 5:45 - Fighting , 5 min 3 - GR Tardif, 5:45 - Game misconduct , 10 min 3 - GR Tatar, 5:45 - Game misconduct , 10 min Tatar and Pare getting involved? expect it from guys like Smith and even Mursak but they really must be getting frustrated. They have one of the best teams theyve had down there for a while, time to fire Fraser I think hopefully some video will pop up so we can see what happened here
-
Yeah I think its safe to say that Brendan is getting pointers from the right guy when it comes to fighting lol
-
Damn I thought so thats too bad, I woulda liked to see him play on the big stage and apparently he was really close to making it. Maybe theres an injury and he gets the call before the tournament like when Dana Tyrell got hurt playing Sweden and Kane got called up. Its too bad he wasn't producing at Notre dame, they probably didn't wanna take him just in case he couldn't produce. Had he been in the OHL I bet he makes this team because he produced well at the camp
-
I dont think Sheahan can play next year can he? He is already 19 as of dec. 7th I think he will be too old
-
I'm kinda surprised they didnt even keep him as the 13th forward after the camp he had. His lack of production all year at Notre Dame is probably what hurt him in the end though. I am pretty surprised he didnt make it though
-
First PK unit yet but I dont tihnk he'll be higher then 3rd line center. Schenn will be number one with Johansen at number 2. Sheahan wont beat these guys out for scoring line roles I dont think but you never know. More likely Sheahan will start on the third or fourth until he shows he can consistently put up offense, then he might see some upgrades in ice time and his role. I think Hamilton Sheahan Foligno or Hamilton Sheahan Courturier will be the third line (fourth if foligno replaces Court) Hamilton and Riley had great chemistry and are both great PKers so I think they make it
-
A goal and 2 apples for Sheahan so far tonight. He has been in on all except 2 goals for the juniors
-
Yeah I'm thinking the Canada 4th line will be Hamilton Sheahan Foligno and Courturier will actually play the wing on a scoring line but they just wanted to test him out tonight. Thats if he even plays wing. Also Cizikas is sitting out tonight because he is injured so that could also help Sheahan. Konnan you seem like a big Sheahan fan and I definitely am so we can hopefully tell them haters to stfu together
-
Sheahan has been playing with Foligno and Hamilton until tonight and they have been producing. Courturier on the wing could also mean they are thinking of moving him there for the tourney which helps Sheahans chances. He's been playing well and has chemistry with a few guys who should make the team. His chances got a lot better after tonight with Courturier moving over
-
Its hard to find stats but apparently word on the street is that Sheahan scored tonight in the final try out game. Final cuts to be made wednesday morning. His camp really helped his status in my books. He had 3 points in 3 games while playing with Hamilton and Foligno. If this line makes team Canada they will be the 4th line bruiser types. Everyone that is doubting Sheahans offense... He came and played against the best Canadians and had 3 points in 3 games in a grinding/PK role. maybe the NCAA has more of an effect on his play then some think. Bon Mackenzie was very impressed
-
Cameron wants big, defensive minded centers he said in an interview, that helps Sheahans chances. He's also got some points through camp and his line has been standing out apparently. He caused a turn over that led directly to a goal as well. Mackenzie pretty much said he is the best defensive center, which could give him a big edge because maybe they'll want to send a 4th line shut down type line and he would be the guy for that. Its also looking like Foligno will make it as the 4th line bruiser type, and he and Sheahan have shown to have great chemistry with one another. He's having a good camp, a strong game tonight should give him the edge, I haven't heard anything about Pirri and I know team canada doesn't like sending many underagers. With Courturier I doubt they will wanna send 2 underage centerman to the tourney. Sheahan has also been killing penalties at the camp. RNH doesn't fit the mold of what Cameron said he wants in his centerman and from the sounds of it Sheahan has been outplaying Cizikas and Pirri. I like his chances. Oh and also, there is a 13th forward spot as well that could go to an offensive specialist like RNH or defensive specialist like Sheahan, and Cameron said some centerman may go to wing because they are so strong at center
-
Sounds to me like Sheahan must have had a good day at the first try out game for team Canada. An article on TSN said he provoked a turnover shortly after a penalty kill that led to his linemate Foligno scoring a goal. Foligno had 2 goals and the article raved about how good he was playing so I cant help but think Sheahan looked pretty good too. Sheahan was also on the penalty kill it said in the article which sounds pretty promising

12/13 GDT: Kings, Lots (5) at Red Wings, None (0)
newfy replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Youre telling me. Got my exam for the day out of the way and have a nice 5 day break til my next one. I can kick back, relax, have a couple beers and watch the wings game tonight for the first time in a while without worrying about exams. Hopefully the wings play well and we get the W -
Agreed. And I really dont expect to see Ilari get a spot on the wings roster over Mursak or Emmerton who i think will make it. I would actually be pretty pissed if he does. Ilari is almost 30, we better not lose young prospects who are producing just as well as he has so that he can have a spot on the roster.
-
I would do Hudler and a third for Upshall. He provides some grit, hes a bit of a pest, he can put the puck in the net and he's fast. He would look great on a line with Abby and Cleary. He's the type of guy I think our team could use come playoff time if we add anyone
-
Because if Hudler is being traded, Kindl could sweeten the deal and get us a quality player. If Modano cant make it back and the wings need a third line center then who else would you trade? Hudler, Kindl. I wouldn't wanna trade Smith because he will probably be up next year and is looking like a much better player then Kindl that plays a similar style. I wouldn't wanna trade any of the roster players that are in the lineup right now because the wings are rolling aside from Hudler. I also wouldn't wanna see Tatar, Mursak, Sheahan, Jarkrok, Nyquist or Pullkinen traded. It really only leaves Kindl who has some value and Hudler who wont get us enough to fill the needs.
-
I probably wouldnt trade Kindl for Erskine but Kindl is definitely not an untouchable prospect. If the right trade comes along I wouldn't be upset to see him go if it helps our chance at a cup this year
-
The wings have Smith coming up who is basically a better version of Kindl and Kindl could have some trade value. You sometimes have to give up decent players to get decent players in return. If Detroit is in the market for a third line center I would not be surprised to see Kindl moved. Who else do you move on this roster besides Hudler who is going to get little return?
-
Ok I guess you think that a goalie is based off of one season, I on the other hand take consistency into account as how good a goalie is. If you really think Osgood was better in New York then he was in Detroit then so be it, thats your opinion (it just isnt as good as mine ) And your last sentence is admitting exactly what I said, a doc holliday argument is putting words into someone else's mouth then using it against them in an argument. There you go again acting like you know my own premise better then I do, my premise this whole time was to say Ozzie had a great career with ups and downs, but in the end he did not do enough to have his jersey retired
-
Haha yeah I know, I kinda put it as a joke because I knew you would call me out on it, but at the same time I was kinda curious
-
Thank you. Exactly what I've been saying this whole thread. He got the job done but was never a franchise guy.

Pitty is a legit team for sure but they are really riding Crosby big time. They went on a huge win streak but htey somehow managed to play horrible teams like 11 games straight. In those 11 games only about 2 teams were playoff calibre and none were that great. Crosby is on a tear though regardless. I would rather have Detroit getting offense from the defense and all 4 lines (except whatever one Hudler is on) then have just Crosby. I think the wings would beat the Pens in a series right now especially ebcause Malkin hasn't looked all that special this season
