I dont know about Meech. Lebda held down an NHL job with the wings at least. Meech did nothing except lose us Quincy (along with Chelios)

Helm had the speed that noone could touch in junior however and I'm sure he was capable of burying those in junior. His problem in the NHL is he can't bury, he gets chances that if he even had half decent finish he would be a 25 goal scorer. Callahan apparently has a nose for the net and has pretty good hands around it too. Seems like his offense would translate a bit better to the big leagues then Helm who I'm sure relied just on his speed to score goals. I dont think Callahan will be a big offensive player however

Exactly. If Callahan isnt trying to hurt people with dirty hits like Cooke and backs up his actions more, while being capable of 15 goals a season I'll be pumped.

It was one of those video interviews they do either during training camp or at the prospects camp. The reporter said Nill has been comparing you to Cooke and how does that make you feel and Callahan said we play similar but I like to fight a lot more. Something along those lines. Cooke is an effective player at what he does, if Callahan can become that good while fighting more (Callahan is a great pound for pound fighter) then I will be extremely happy

Hes not a flashy prospect like a Pullkinen but he was drafted earlier then Teemu this year. He also must have impressed since he was just drafted, played 9 games and earned a contract. He's 6'4, just growing into his body and fairly physical. He's projected to be a third line center because he is very good defensively.

Theyll give him a year or 2 in the AHL, let him get used to fighting the pros but I dont see why they would leave him down there. They are grooming him to become a third or 4th line fighter, no need to give him 20 minutes of time a night in the AHL for three years when they dont expect him to be much more then a bottom 6er

Nill compared him to Carcillo and Cooke except he fights more. Kinda makes him more respectable in my books. He's definitely an agitator through and through. A Kelowna fan was also saying since he was put on a scoring line for the first time this year that he has shown that hes got great hands and a solid scoring touch.

The thing about Callahan is his ridiculous learning curve he's been on. He made kelowna as a free agent as a 16 year old and ended up getting drafted late by detroit. He made strides last year and is doing great this year. He is a great pound for pound fighter, takes on 6 foot 3 guys and has never decisively lost a fight. He looked great at prospect camp and his start isn't really surprising to me. His weight is already at 190 as a 5'11 player that's pretty sturdy already too

Abdelakders gonna come out hitting like a truck I hope, lids is gonna shut Chris Stewart down, theres going to be a fight and on TSN they will mention the rivalry again as they show the highlight, and Datsyuk will do something sweet. That is all

Yeah the reason was because he was given a gift to be alone infront of the net from Stuart. Miller and Eaves could both take a backhander like that too. I know Hudler has more offensive flair, or at least did, but Kovalev has quite a bit as well but when your heart isnt in it then it means nothing really. Doesnt take a pythia to know Hudler is overrated, small, weak and overpaid

Great to hear. Nicastro was always a prospect it was hard to get a read on. Some said he was a puck mover with no edge, others said he was a huge hitter. Nice to see he has a blend of both, seems kinda like Brendan Smith in that regard

I would say Abdelkaders been the best but he hasn't played a whole lot. This is going to be pretty close to Hudlers last chance I bet so if he doesnt show something tonight he might as well grab some press box til he gets traded

Well heres Hudlers chance. I think this game is going to be the make or break for him. If he still plays like s*** with Flip and Franzen he'll be gone. I think this one has potential to be rough, theyll probably have Big E's number for beating up Brule. Abdelkader in a 4th line role will be fun to see since he just smashes everything when hes out there. and dats will probably do something sweet

I never really get why people think he was immature. He got caught drinking at University, thats not immature, NHLers drink why couldn't Smith? And one fight at a party isnt really that big of a deal either, he's the big shot on campus, some idiot wouldn't leave the party when asked and Smith dealt with him. Neither things to me make it even seem remotely close to effecting his on ice play

Yeah but youre used to having no cap space for injury call ups the last few years. We trade Hudler for a decent prospect or picks and we have 2.8 millin in cap space coming our way. Thats enough for us to call up waiver exempt guys like Mursak or Emmerton who are both looking NHL ready or Iflip could come up

Theyre cycling like they have one nut and theyre on steroids? But seriously some people were questioning if he'll ever be more then a third liner in this league because he didnt have many points last season. Well look what the guy can do with linemates that aren't Maltby and May. He's alreadya very solid third liner and hes just about to play his first NHL season. He'll be a top 6er and score 20 goals in the next 3 years I think

I'm Chatham area so for me its pretty easy to scoop up game day tickets cheap on stub hub last minute. If its a friday and nothing is going on you can always try to pick up some tickets, get a car load of buddies, pay 5 bucks each for gas and about 30 for the tickets. We usually take the tunnel bus too so we only pay like5 bucks parking at the tunnel bbq. Its pretty convenient, last year we scooped up tickets at 2 in the afternoon drove down and watched Franzen score those 4 goals in the playoffs against the sharks. The tickets we got were under 40 dollars
