May only was on this team because we were so injured. Downey made this team out of camp as our heavyweight fighter, May never was that I'm in teh same boat as you. One enforcer isn't what i think would work for this team. We need to add a guy in |Millers place that plays a game similar to Abby. An enforcer who cant play cant just walk in and make this team tough. I liked what I saw from Stuart against a very legit fighter, Ericcson, Abby, Bert and add one more guy and this team looks good to me

You love fighting in hockey, then complain about Downey fighting off of face offs and staged fights and blah blah. Mean while Downey NEVER had those fights. No but a guy like Downey (I dont want Downey on this team) would have went out when the game was getting out of hand, fought Parros and things would've cooled down. However the game just built up, every other shift Getzlaf was grabbing someone, Ryan smoked Kronwall from behind and it just kept escalating. A Downey type fights Parros and thigns cool down because the other team is like oh s*** our toughest player just got handled.

Your team should have enough balance that when you get in a blow out like that, you have guys to handle it. We've lost to teams like that before so its not unheard of. He openly said he thought they were bad for the game and never did them. The Parros fight was at the end of a shift after they had been mucking in the corners for while. And to top it all off, you said Parros didnt go after anyone? Remember him jumping on Cleary getting ready to lay a beat down but luckily the linesman got in there? You made your point , you don't like fighters but dont make stuff up to get a point across. Good job by Datsyuk handling himself but hopefully with Abby,, Bert, and Ericcson (Janik if E is out long term) Datsuk won't have to do that again for a while.

For a 4th line role I think they should give Owens the call. He plays a simialr game to Abby, he gets in hard on the forecheck and doesn't take a lot of s***. Just a straight up energy guy. Mursak is more if a guy like Huds is out and needs to be replaced I think. Im guessing Abby has sore ribs from the hipcheck he gave Schenn and theyre tender right now so he's out just this weekend. Why the hell does Babcock gotta say he's calling up Maltby. For f***'s sake give the kids a chance for once

Yeah those 42 points in the AHL scream offensive dynamo from Ritola. Miller was over a PPG, 36 points in 31 games his last year in the AHL while splitting time between the Ducks and Portland. Ritola hardly had more then that in 70 something. Ritola has not shown anything to say he'll be a top 6 player and in the bottom 6 I would rather have the guy who is a fairly capable PKer and will play gritty sometimes (even though I wish we had someone else for Miller doing this), then a little skilled Swedish player who can't finish but is a skilled guy who doesn't put up points. Skilled players who don't score or set up goals are useless in a bottom 6 and in a 4th line role

For a red wing defenseman prospect to step in the playoffs when he was not close to being NHL ready was huge. Meech played fine in 08 but I put a lot more weight into playoffs and Quincy did great for what he was asked to do. Also given our needs at the time and Quincy was a defensive, physical defenseman, keeping the small weak puck mover who has no high end potential at all as more then a 6th guy. Yeah that move was questionable at the time and most people here called from the start that we shouldn't have done it. I was one of them and look now

Meh, nothing really special about this guy. I mean if he was such a sure fire bet to be a solid NHL player he would have seen mroe time with the big club, especially with all the injuries this season. People overreact alot. He was skilled guy who couldn't produce points, who cares really. When we lost Quincy he had a solid playoff run with us where he looked great (still can't believe Holland waived him after that run) but this guy has done nothing

Edmonton will have 3 in the top 25 though with Hall, Eberle and MPS

Rosehill isn't playing because he's got the toughest fighter in the league enforcing the team he is with and they already have tonnes of secondary toughness. If Downey could play 60 games with our 08 team then Rosehill could definitely be used on our 4th line this season. People assume because a guy fights a lot he's a useless goon. The guy is only 2 years older then Abddelkader who is really just breaking into the league now for us. I would take Rosehill over Miller on this team anyday. For what Miller provides on the PK it can be made up with Abdelkader getting in there as well as Eaves, Helm and Flip all being a year older. Rosehill can get in on the forecheck, hammer guys and is pretty intimidating at 6'3 and 200+ pounds. He can skate just as well as Miller and Miller did disappear in the playoffs

Owens showed he could play on the 4th line now I think, he is physical and would have above average skating even for the NHL. Mursak is gonna be a player. Tatar looked good. Emmerton was A LOT better the i expected Kindl looks better then everyone used to say, I guess reading stats doesn't give accurate scouting reports like some on LGW like to think

Yeah but then you should subtract the pims Bieksa had for fighting which is 25 and he had what 72 pims total. Plus you know a few of those are roughings sticking up for the goalie and scrumming it up. I'm not saying Bieksa is a better player by any means, just saying that while he may take dumb penatlies, it doesn't change the fact that he is physical and gets in fights etc. Personally I say physically him and Stuart are pretty much a wash. I would really like to see Rosehill get outta TO because he could make an NHL team, he's only 25 if Detroit could get him off the waiver wire I would be more then glad to trade Miller and waive Ritola. He can skate just as good if not better then Miller, throws big hits and is a solid heavyeight fighter. He doesn't have a scoring touch but you dont need that from him, he can skate and throw the body around well and create tonnes of energy. I think he is a fighter these boards could finally agree on playing on this team
