You gotta give up on the Lilja being tough thing lol. He will never fight again since his brain got scrambled because he can't defend himself. Seriously he'll man up and drop em but he gardly even throws punches.

I wouldn't mind him with the big club, it would be nice to see someone step right in. At the same time I think a year in the AHL to get stronger and adjust to playing against men wouldn't hurt. Next season, especially if Kindl has a bad season I would take him on the team

Take Eaves off that line in a few years and give me a line of Mursak Helm Ferraro, they would be called the mach 3 line or something. Ferraro won the fastest skater in the top prospects game

Doughty might very well end up just as good or better then Lids. I would happily give up 4 !st round picks for him. I would take Weber over Seabrook but I think Weber or Doughty could realistically replace most that we lose from Lidstrom

Lilja wants a top 4 role and more money. The wings can't give him either of these wishes

Exelby has noticeably hard hits plenty, I'm sure I see him play way more then you do since I watch the same amount of leafs games as I do wings game because of where I live. My best friend is a leafs fan, and likes Exelby so I wouldn't put words in the mouths of leafs fans when youre in Colorado and pretty much all the people I talk to on a daily basis like the leafs. You seem like one of those guys who read the stats and think you know everything about a player, probably read the box score of wings games the day after too and watch espn to get your fill of the wings. Thats fine but I've seen Exelby play plenty, know most of the s*** you say is way off base. You think I would want a guy who can't actually hit, fight or make a first pass? Lilja is better but we gotta replace his lost toughness and mean streak prior to the concussion somehow. You say Exelby isn't mean because of a concussion and then say you want Lilja... I would take Lilja back but you seem to be forgetting how awful Lilja was when he came to Detroit. Exelby isn't as good now but he's much better then Lilly was when he came here, Exelby's problems can be fixed with Detroits coaching. Then you bring up the fact that Lilja hits more then exelby and I've decided youre a stat reader that doesn't watch games, even before the concussion I can not think of Lilja having a big open ice hit or a big hit really at all. The fight stat is relevant because Exelby was on TO last year. He had other guys to worry bout fighting, in Detroit he would probably fight about 8 times. Lilja wil fight 0 times because of his head. Its fine if you don't like him because he's a tough, big player but don't try to bend stats and say things like Lilja is a better hitter etc. Its safe to say he's still tough and takes the body

I'm thinking he'll break 60, but maybe not by much. Its so hard to know since noone can tell if he imrpoved or got worst while in Russia

Being a physical player compared to not being physical makes a pretty big difference in my books. Eaves is capable of throwing a big hit and will fight sometimes. Miller weighs 170 pounds. Bottom line is even if the stats are a wash, did ou watch any games last year? Eaves actually has some offensive potential and just plays the game all around better then Miller. The penalty kill is the only reason Miller is a decent player and guess what? Eaves plays more on it and is better. If you like Miller fine, but don't make yourself look dumb by trying to say he's better then Eaves or has better potential in the next 2 years then Eaves.

His penalty killing coincided with Babcock not using stars on the PK anymore. We have Abby killing penalties next season and other then the PK Miller excels at nothing. We could bring in your average role player/grinder type and the would most likely do just as good as Miller on the penalty kill, but with Abby we don't really even need a capable penalty killer signed because he can fill that position. Noone hates Miller I don't think, we would just rather see money spent on someone who excels at something that this team needs. I would rather have the money for Miller spent on Modano, a solid5/6 dman or a 4th line grinder drake type player personally

Stats are fine and dandy drake but just watching you can tell which guy is the better player. he fact that you say Eaves is less durable isn't fair to say, He's young and has plenty of time to get his body back in shape. He still scored more goals with those less games played. Eaves has twice the offensive potential, is a much faster skater, 100 and 20 something hits is no slouch, and will fight. Just watching them play you can tell and if you wouldn't take Eaves over Miller 10 out of 10 times there is something wrong with that.

Meh sign and trade hopefully, unless he ison a dirt cheap deal

With it looking more and more likely that Holland will sign another defenseman to replace Lilly pads, he'l want someone mean that can still play decent defense. Hnidy is an ideal number 6 dman. He knows when to fight and is very capable but doesn't fight so much that other defenseman will need to be picking up his ice time spent in the box. He was a -6 last year on a team where the top defenseman were -16 and -15. He is capable of playing 12 minutes a game and got 12 points last year on a low scoring defensive group. He is for sure on par offensively with Lilja, compareable defensively and is tougher and meaner. He's a true stay at home guy and I would love to have Ericcson learning ti style from a guy like Hnidy. He sticks up for the goalie, Ericcson could learn from this guy. Thoughts?

Yeah and knowing how dumb hawks fans can be they'll probably all be calling for stan's head next season when the hawks are in the 6-8 spot for playoffs if they even make it. There isn't really anything Stan can do however besides what he is doing.

Eaves is more physical, skates much faster and has more potential for offense down the road. Miller really is just an average 4th line type player, we're not used to seeing bottom 6 players fill a PK role because our stars used to play it, Miller is nothing special on the PK

He stills play a wreckless style of hockey, hits plenty and fights plenty as well. He stil hits like a truck and more often then anyone else on our team and more then Lilja ever did. As for him sucking at everything, he's just as good of a shot blocker as Lilja, meaner, hits more, fights more and better, protects his goalie and is under the age of 30. He's much better than Lilja when he first came here and is pretty much teh same situation. Lilja played for crappy teams then came to Detroit and got good. Exelby is just as mobile as Lilja, same offensively, just tougher. Give Exelby a season here and he's is better then Lilja I bet. Its fine if you don't like him since he is a rough player and all but he is one of the most realistic replacements available

If we could get our hands on any of these guys I would be pumped. Theyre all pretty good players as well. Jansen is crazy and tough but not much of a player, but the rest can play and fight

Holland said they are going to resign him but also said he will be moved at the beginning of the season if a role isn't found for him. Hopefully he is part of a trade that gets us one of those rfas that went to arbitration.. Tanner Glass or Jared Boll please

What are you on? I talk about how Getzlaf is a solid player that I eouldn't trade Z for, then I say Z probably isn't a top 5 forward in the league and back it up with reasons. I think its funny how people on this board can never hear one bad thing about a red wing or else you hate the wings. Its pathetic. I said Z is a great player, you need to give your head a shake man, he got 70 points this year, he's a great player, not god. Find an example of me convincing everyone that other teams stars are better then the wings (which I didn't even do in this thread) and maybe you'll get a little bit of your credibility from me back. Until then you're just one of those homer fans on here who can't look at this team realistically.
