After watching that I want him even more. He was on one of the tougher teams in the leaguel ast year so he wasn't forced to play as tough as he could. When guys come to Detroit they play even tougher then they are, here he could really be a force.
-
Draft Gudbranson(who theyre saying is better now anyways) and you've got your Chara style player. Big, mean and can still play the game.
-
Replacement for Meech perhaps? It was a clean hit and he was pissed that people were saying it was cheap. The reporters are the idiots.
-
Yeah Exelby is one of the more underrated hitters in the league I think. He lays guys out and can throw punches too. Textbook #6 defenseman if you ask me and Toronto has a lot of defenseman so he might be the odd one out.

I'm pretty sure its because the playoffs aren't done yet so the order hasn't been finalized. It sucks though because the change of a few picks in the 15-20 range could really affect the wings draft pick. We'll have to wait for it to get finalized to really see who will probably going where.

Not every finnish player is god, you know that right?
-
I doubt Conboy would be the wings 6th guy. They may sign him to be like a Janik type from this year but Conboy could hardly crack Carolinas line up so what are his chances with the wings?
-
Yeah I'm not sure whats going on there.. We pick at 21 though
-
Anyone know much about this Charlie Coyle guy? He seems to have come out of nowhere I haven't heard of him. Says he plays with an edge so I'm interested now
-
How many of those guys are actually UFAs though? I know Erskine isn't but I would like him here.
-
Cough..Bertuzzi..Cough I wouldn't mind Arty here actually he's a tank but I would take Nystrom, Burish, Winchester or Asham over him for sure
-
Can someone post a link to the latest mock draft?
-
Lilja used to be fairly mean before the concussion and he wasnt a bad fighter when he decided to fight either. Now that he isn't that same player anymore I think the wings target a similar style of pre-injury Lilja. A big, mean stay at home guy that will clear the crease.
-
Bertuzzi states he will either stay with wings or retire

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Babcock said starting next season Abdelkader will be starting on the PK full time. -
Yeah looking through the free agent list I thought Boychuk would be a possibility but I was thinking he would get a bit of a raise and be a bit to expensive for the wings cap situation. I'm thinking our 6th dman this year is going to be getting no more then about 1.2 million or so.

This is another thread about the possible drake type Holland may be looking at. Eager is a huge hitter, young and a solid fihgter. Reading some chicago boards people seem to think Eager will not be back next year because of the cap situation. Scored 11 goals a couple seasons ago and can play solid 4th line minutes, he doesn't just play 3 fighter minutes a night. Anyone think this is a possibilty? Seems most Hawks fans don't think he'll return.

Exelby is a pretty good player but I tihnk coming off a year in TO he'll be due for a slight cut or may want to take one to play in Detroit which is always possible. Janik seemed good when he was here but I dunno if he really is the answer for our need at number 6. The guy hasn't held an NHL job for a long time for a reason. I would not be unhappy with him being the full time 6 or 7 guy because he is tough(not a heavyweight but a good middleweight) and played well when he was up with us because his game is simple.

If Pitlick can hit as well as score then I'm all for him.

As one of the bigger fight advocates on this board I gotta say I don't mind if guys dont fight in the finals. After the pens giving talbot so much credit for that fight with Carcillo as turning their series around I'm sure noone wants to be the guy who swings the momentum negatively.
-
Well Detroit has Draper, Miller and Meech playing forward sometimes who are all much more useless then Eager. After talkinga bout how much tougher Datsyuk is then Eager you kind of lose your credibility in this thread. And the reason hwe won't fight is hes in the stanley cup finals and you dont want momentum to swing. Macarty wouldn't fight Laraque 2 years ago in teh finals when he got challenged. Macarty is a ***** too? Obviously you think Datsyuk is tough but Holland doesn't think quite tough enough. He wants a player who is hard to play against, if guys like Datsyuk were tough players and tough to play against just because they can take alot then Detroit wouldn't need to sign someone like that.
-
I'm clueless? Youre telling me a gritty player is someone who is a tenacious stick lifter but I'm the clueless one. Dastyuk is a good player with some grit to his game but not very much. He is a skilled player not a gritty one. I'm not just saying Eager is grittier then Datsyuk but by your definition Dats is grittier then guys like Ian Lapperriere because he isn't a tenacious stick lifter. Youre saying Dats is gritter then Abdelkader because he can go into a corner with 2 guys and come out of it. Thats called skill, they can't take the puck from him. Gritty guys are the ones who are in there digging and hitting people in the corners. Datsyuk is a great player, Eager is a gritty one and you are a clueless poster.
-
Yeah he is tough in that way. But the guys who hand out that punishment and can take it as well are tougher players.
-
I'm looking forward to having a bottom 6 that is tougher to play against and can wear down the defense finally. Abdelkader and a UFA with a similar game and I'm happy.
-
Youre trying to tell me a tough hockey player is Datsyuk and a guy like Eager isn't tough? Are you high? If you see a player get laid out like Datsyuk but gets up youre like oh wow he's pretty tough I wouldn't get up from that but when its a guy like Eager making the hit he`s the tougher of the 2. Say what you want but DAtsyuk doesnèt hit, fight and hardly blocks shots. What is it that makes him so tough? Is he a tough hockey player because he dangles deefnseman so good? No, is it because he lays big hits? No Datsyuk isn't even gritty barely, so don't even mention tough.

Solid deal, I was hoping for somewhere just a bit under 2 million. Hopefully his body can hold out for 2 more years and we have a great deal on our hands. Even if Homer's skating does slow down it doesnt really matter because he'll still be able to tip pucks all the same on the PP
