They don't necessarily need a third line and 4th line that can score but they need a bottom 6 that have a purpose. They could signs hut down defensive guys like they used to have in Draper and Maltby, or they could make their bottom 6 tougher to lay out opponents, hurt the defense and intimidate the other team, or they could add some scoring depth. If we made our bottom 6 into any of these the team would be much better off, right now our bottom lines don't have a niche. Add Abdelkader and a tough UFA and all of a sudden we have guys who can wear down the other teams defense, couple that with Eaves playing a little tougher with tougher linemates and saying bye to Draper and we actually have a 3rd or 4th line that can fulfill a role.

Alot of these guys are extremely similar to a prime Dallas Drake. Some even better. Nystrom is just as good as a prime Dallas Drake, skill wise and hes tougher. Eager hits just as hard, is a tougher fighter and can scorejust as well as a prime Drake basically. Burish has some offensive upside and is just as big of a pain in the ass as Drake ever was. Just because we had Drake for one year and he hit hard doesn't mean there isn't guys out there who are just as capable. As wings fans we're just not used to seeing players that play this style.

In a tight Stanley cup final game. Throughout the season he plays about 9 minutes and can score goals in the double digits. Eager would probably have the most offensive upside for a guy that would cost under a million.
-
I dont like Barch really, I would much rather have any of the other 3. Eager is just a huge hitter and can skate over average for a 4th liner I think so he might be possible. Boll would be my favourite addition probably but Tanner glass has some appeal as well. Holland has some options this year to add a decent 4th line gritty guy who can play and fight. Hopefully he isn't all talk. Brookabnk for Lilja could be a good replacement if Lilja walks or retires.
-
Honestly I would take either of them and the fact that they are close to detroit they may want to come here if they can't stay in Chicago. Eager is tougher but Burish is the better all around player. Boogard won't happen. Holland wants a guy who can play and be physical. I would rather add Abdelkader and a guy like Asham, Burish or Eager then add one heavy who plays 3 minutes a night. Build a team of all around tough Middle weights that can still play like philly has.

He's just as tough or tougher then Drake ever was, and just as big of a hitter.

Thats what I like to see. We may have the next Carcillo on our hands here. If not then we at least have the next Rypien type(eventhough I tinhk Ripper is overrated)

Macfarland, Watson or Mcilrath please.

Gongshow you are a gongshow. Seriously, not competitive? We're gonna be fine next year. Stop being stupid.

Holland and Babcock have also said they want a tougher presence on teh bottom lines. I guarantee Burish or Nystrom would be much more noticeable and better outt there then Miller would be. -

Miller hardly does anything out there. He played well on the PK but we're used to seeing our superstars play the PK. Honestly what Miller did on the PK this year isn't much different then what your average 3rd or 4th line gritty guy could do. Eaves is the one that turned it around I think. Everyone on the team needs to provide something, Miller doesn't provide anything. -

Just because guys are going to be given qualifying offers as RFAs doesn't mean they will be back. Holland has to do this in case someone offers them an offer sheet Detroit will get compensation. -

Swap Hudler for Williams, Miller for Nystrom, Burish or Winchester(any of those 3 would be sick) and perhaps Lilja for Brookbank if Lilja doesnt return or asks too much and this team looks better to me. -
Lidstrom isn't really worth as much anymore as people are making it seem like to be honest. 5 millionish is probably market value. Yeah Rafalski makes more but just cause one guy is over paid doesn't mean they all should. That Phoenix series really showed LIdstrom's age is catching up with him.

Newly Signed Brendan Smith Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Is there any guys on this forum who have been drinking, gotten sucker punched and didn't even try to fight back? Its a natural human thing, you get hit you hit back. When you happen to be a 6'2 pro hockey player who has shown he has some edge to his game you have the ability to throw punches a bit better probably. Lets not forget, this is hockey here people. They live a certain lifestyle that is rough and tumble and involves a lot of beer and chew. Stuff happens. -

Thats the thing though, you can have a guy go out there run people over left and right AND drop the gloves when they need to. Burish is a probably just as fast as Abdelkader, will fight and can PK just as good as all 3 of them. Nystrom has more offensive ability then all 3 of those guys, hits and is one of the better middle weights in the league. You don't have to have strictly fast guys that can hit or just fighters. There aare players like Winchester, Burish and Nystrom out there who won't be much money at all who are better 4th line type players then someone like Eaves. -
You could sign Ladd for 2 years, just long enough to make him get roots in teh area then go from there. He's a player that has proven he can play a 3rd line secondary scoring role so if he doesn't work out as hitting his potential and getting 50 points he can always anchor a third line basically.

Exactly what I was thinking. I want Armstrong obviously because he plays mean and puts up decent points but a guy like Burish Or Nystrom on the 4th line plus Armstrong and Abdelkader inserted in the line up would have this team just as good skill wise, if not better the last year and a whole lot tougher. Winchester, Burish or Nystrom signed, Abdelkader up full time and Armstrong in the line up would have the wings looking twice as mean as last year and better overall with Hudler and Armstrong both putting up points. Armstrong would be more free to play his big hit game if he had a guy who could step in for him and back him up more often then just Abdelkader. -

Luckily we're not in Europe then. -
It depends how you look at it. Ladd in the long run is way better since he's what 25 or 26. He has the potential to break out for a solid 50 points next season and has the physical game to provide as well. I would rather sign Ladd for a bit more then Bert just because Bert has one more year probably but Ladd hasn't even hit his prime yet.

Yeah he wa sunder 21 so one beer an hour ago could have had him over the legal limit. That hardly makes him seem like a troubled kid. I'm sure everyone here has driven after one or two beers( well nearly everyone) -

I would be extremely happy if we signed Armstrong. Sure I want us to sign either Nystrom or Burish but Armstrong hits just as hard or harder then both of them and could potentially put up 40 points. Sure he doesn't fight as much but he still will go. Armstrong would be a dirty signing. -
With Holland saying he is going to sign a decent player that is hard to play against and made it kinda sound like he wants someone who may drop the gloves I think Adam Burish is one of the forerunners for this spot as a UFA and Chicago may have to let some players go. I was wondering if anyone had read anywhere or seen anything about him saying he wants to resign in Chicago or wants to go somewhere else? Anyone know any decent Blackhawks forums I could look for some info for this guy, I mean, he's hard not to want in a wings jersey..... http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/41210

This can be said about Natives as well. Most now(I live 5 minutes from a res so I have a good idea about how things are)do not live the native lifestyle that was used in the past. Most don't worship the creator, or live in teepees or scalp their enemies for that matter. Referring to these people is the same as referring to swedes as vikings.
