Well your exact words were overpaid chumps so yeah you called them that haha. Dion is 25, he's had a bad couple years on a team that really had problems. He was playing good for TO at the end of the seasona nd he still has a tonne of potential. Beauch wasn't overrated at all. He was a beast say what you want but that Anaheim D killed us. Komi hardly played last year because he was hurt so its hard to judge him now. The leafs have a bunch of guys who can get it together and are better then probably half the teams in the league on defense. They need to get some scoring.
-
I think he would be a great pick at our spot. He might not have the huge offensive upside of some but he's a hard hitting power forwardt hat we don't have alot of. He's from michigan too.
-
Eaves is more physical, more potential to put up points and faster. He also seemed a hell of a lot better on the pk to me this year. I don't just say I like one more and say we shouldn't sign him. Holland says he wants a tougher team to play against, they will probably use Millers spot to sign a tougher guy to play against who is just as good at other facets of the game.
-
Jagr is a generational talent. I would rather have Laperriere then Leino anyday not even close.
-
Yeah Macfarland was right up there in the top 5 last year but he only played like 20 games or something this season. He's a fair comparison to Franzen but with the physicality Mule played with before he was a scorer. Sheahan was ranked high as well, I don't know much about him since he played college hockey but there must have been something there to make him slip.

I don't see it being an actual enforcer though. Burish or Nystrom type guys(I would be ecstatic at both) are probably who kenny will look into. He may also see if he can get Chipchura who was a high touted prospect 2 years ago fromt he ducks. Not your textbook enforcers but more like Drake type guys, all are under like 26 i think so we could have a solid, tough, young guy for once -
I think going high risk high reward could be worth it but not with Kabanov. The guys projected to go around 20 are still supposed to be solid top 6 guys. Macfarland may drop to us and he was supposed to be the most skilled canadian in the draft last year some were saying and a top 3 pick. He's kinda risky so we might get to pick him up.

Heart doesn't mean playing well, it means him saying he doesn't need to go into corners to play the game proves he has no heart. Heart to me means youre willing to go to the dirty places for a goal and will take a hit to make a play. Floating around the perimeter and not going into corners isn't heart. Say what you want about how I would play but I played at a pretty high level and was always the one getting my nose dirty for the good players. I can't prove it or disprove it though so that point is null. The guy got hot for a playoff run now we'll see what happens next year. Those comments you pointed out still said he can't skate which he can't. 12 good games doesn't make this a bad deal for Holland, wait and see. He's proven he can play good for a 12 game stretch, he admitted to not wanting to go in corners or anything like that and you still wanna say he has a bunch of heart? Thats dumb

No I forgot about him but I dont care really for making good D lines because we pretty muchh ave our top 6 set unless we lose Lilja then who knows what Kenny would do. Okay I said sign Burish but I really think the best option for what we're looking for is Nystrom. He's good for 15 goals and 10 fights a year. What do you think would be a better signing, Burish(who will fight like 20 times probably and is more agitating) or Nystrom because he has more of a skilled game but is slightly less rough? -
At least they have heart, draft finnish and you get heartless floaters with no finish.

He wasn't being forced out, he was being given a promotion for gods sake to teach someone how to become a great GM. And Yzerman took a hit for this organization when he played for like 2 million bucks, Kenny hasn't taken a hit yet.
-
Why? Because I think a guy who should repay the favour to a younger apprentice of his the exact same way he became a GM. Holland was gonig to be overseeing everything Yzerman did and was still going to be in the picture big time. Yzerman should be the wings GM this year and Holland should be president. Holland has won 4 cups and has had his run but now you gotta train your apprentice for the job but Holland was selfish.
-
Only girls cry. And yeah when the way you got your job was because of someone taking that promotion, you should also take that promotion to keep that guy who you just said did so much for this organization here. Its not like he wasn't going to be involved in the organization, he was going to be president for gods sake.
-
Yeah from about picks 12 - 21 or so the talent level is fairly close and the only thing that will change who gets picked is organizational needs. The wings should be able to grab up one of Watson, Macfarland or Mcilrath with that first pick so we will fill some needs for sure.
-
Yeah but he's been aprt of a team thats has won 4 cups and has been GM for a long time. When a guy with Yzermans credentials from the organization is ready to take the job and you've had a great run, you take the promotion.
-
Its still selfish to do that. Jimmy D did it for Holland when he didn't have to at all, Holland should've done the same for his apprentice. Its just like when teachers work on contract when they are like 75 years old. They have the right to do it sure but its dumb and they shouldn't take away jobs from the people just coming out of school

Based on offensive ability and potential. He's a better puck handler and has a better scoring touch. Helm has almost 0 finish. Abdelkader is going to come out strong next year I think and will eventually work his way to the third line if he doesnt start there. And Babcock already said he will be in on the PK right away. I think Miller is gone. People who think he's a good energy guy are wrong. How many big hits did he have? 0 How fast is he? Average Does he ever fight? Nope PK ability? Average and since Abs is going to be on the PK he isn't needed. Making this bottom 6 tougher like Kenny wants too is gonig to eman getting rid of bottom line guys who provide nothing like Miller, and scratching Draper. -
He was offered the presidency to oversee Yzerman while Yzerman became a gm and worked his way into the league. Jimmy D did the same thing for Holland back when Holland came into the league and Holland didn't have the prior impact on the organization when he became GM. He got cut form the team and became their western scout and worked his way up. Steve has proven he knows how to build a winning team and I think should've got the GM job here except Holland wouldn't do what was done for him so many years ago. Thats why he's selfish
-
Torres would be a decent addition. I wouldn't have Hanson as a third line center though, hes garbage. Mitchell would be third line over Hanson I think. And Oreskovic could be a decent 6/7 defenseman for the leafs. He's tough. I watch a lot of leafs games where I'm from and I remember seeing Oreskovic give Lucic a good tilt. I wouldn't mind seeing Detroit send a draft pick or something the leafs way for Phil and having Oreskovic if Lilja leaves.
-
Thats a little much. He switched to be a GM of another team, its not like your mom died or something
-
People he's playing good for what 12 games? Yeah he got hot when he got put on a line with hartnell and Briere but he's not even noticeable out there. He had like 7 points in 42 games, is soft as butter and has absolutely no heart. Don't judge him til he actually does something in the league because right now 7 points in 42 games looks pretty s***ty to me. and Finnish Wing, you obviously didn't watch Leino with Detroit, he sucks and yu've got that finnish hard on going that we see on here so often. The guy has no heart at all.
-
I'm excited for him but at the same time it sucks to see him go. I really think he'll be back with Detroit before his GM career is done. Holland = Selfish

Franzen Zetterberg Flip Homer Datsyuk Bertuzzi Hudler Abdelkader Cleary Eaves Helm Burish Draper/Ritola Lidstrom Rafalski Kronwall Stuart Ericcson Lilja/Janik/Strudwick/BROOKBANK(hopefully) Holland said he'll add a physical 4th line type guy. Burish can still play and plays extremely similar to Drake did. Depending on what Lilja gets offered or what he might be gone. Brookbank is his perfect replacement. I doubt Brookbank will be here but if Lilja is gone he would be the best fit from everyone I saw out of the free agents. -
The monster is barely making any money and Giguere's salary doesn't really affect the leafs because of how much cap space they have.
-
Yeah start naming some really hard working Finnish players. And make sure they are in the NHL. Players in the Finnish Elite League and other Euro leagues don't count because they aren't the top talent. Now we could compare the Finnish elite League to the WHL which is probably similar skill level if you want? But I'll tell you right now there is no way youre winning an argument about the FEL being a tougher, harder working league. The Koivu brothers I wouldn't consider really hard working players with a lot of heart. Sure Saku came back from cancer but that doesn't mean he plays with a tonne of heart. Canada and the states players are generally much harder workers then the European players.
