The sad part is since he's an NHLer he probably got to rub that tanning lotion on for her right after this picture was taken.
-
Good signing. Guys got hands for sure, hopefully he can start scoring. Isn't scared to go into corners or anything either which is always good for a young guy.
-
Miller didn't do that much to endure him being a lock to resign this ofseason. He didn't provide much at all really, he killed penatlies well, not amazing like Helm and Eaves do but there are plenty of bottom line guys who can kill penalties like Miller does and provide more other things.
-
And the squad that likes people who can skate and take a pass. Boll is actually a decent player, he just doesn't score.
-
When you slash at the stick just to try to stop the guy from making a pass its hardly ever called. Its a stick check more then a slash. Slashing penalties are called to stop players from trying to hurt with their sticks, this "slash" isn't perry trying to hurt the goalie. And when the goalie comes out to play the puck you're allowed to go for the puck, its not like he has a force field around him. The reason its called when it breaks the stick is because it affects the other players ability to play the game and essentially make the other team short handed. A slash on the stick isn't hurting anyone.
-
I hope this doesn't mean we draft a goalie.
-
Yeah Harrison could be a good 6 or 7 guy. He's still young so we could teach him how to play as well.
-
Actually go back and watch it. Perry is stopped infront of Vokoun checking his stick and Vokouns momentum from shooting the puck kind of carried him into Perry. Obviously he was off balance but it looksl ike a sell too me.
-
Theyre going to replace him with Hall or Seguin this year actually.
-
Its not emotional nationalism. If someones gonna sit there and go on oh hes a good ol canadian fooker. I'm gong to make sure remind them that Perry is better then anyone on the ice for czechs and he was on the team that won the gold medal this year. Vokoun did definitely sell that, he didn't wipe out like that from an almost stopped Perry. He either fell because of his follow through on his shot had him all off balance or he was selling it.
-
No theres no way we bring in Scott Parse. He's small and a softer style of player. Kenny wants to bring in someone whose tough to play against, and has tonnes of better options then Parse. We already have bottom liners that don't provide a whole lot of anything, Parse is redundant.

Watch that video. The slash is absolutely nothing at all. That play is made every single time a goalie goes to shoot a puck. Sure there was some contact but hardly any at all. If anything it was because of Vokouns follow through and hitting Perry with the momentum from that that knocked him over. And I really doubt Perry is that pissed that they lost to the Czechs when they are still moving on. Hell even if they get beat out next game I really doubt Perry's all that upset going home to an Olympic gold medal. International refs always call the game tighter and there was a ref right there so if he doesn't call it, its not getting called in the NHL. Oh and as for calling for his head, trust me if Mason did get ran and actually got ran, not slightly bumped and flopped around noone in Canada would call for his head because the canadian team would already have it. The toughest team in the world by far and skilled enough to win the olympic gold. Oh and Perry is better then anyone on the Czech team, even better then old washed up Jagr.

Shane O'brien would be sick here but he's an RFA so I don't see it happening. Vancouver wasn't happy with him though so maybe they let him go. He doesn't seem to like it in Vancouver and after another premature payoff exit they might want a shake up. Brookbank seems like the best person of the group for me. He's young (sort of) and is a steady, stay at home type of guy. Heavy weight fighter as well. He's proven he's good enough to play in this league and could be a very good 6th dman Leach is a plug John Scott is an absolute giant and for sure the toughest of the group. I dunno if he's good enough for regular NHL duty. Sign him at a league minimum as your 7th defenseman and I'm all for it. Valabik is interesting. He's young and could have some potential. He's huge as well. I wouldn't mind seeing him signed either. Hnidy is a little old for my liking but he could still have a couple good years in him. Its not like he relies on his speed and mobility to play his style of game. One guy to add to your list is Strudwick. He's a bit old as well but he's a very solid player. Just as good as Lilja and could be had for 500,000 less. I think the key with most of these guys is that we can save some cap space by signing them and reaquire a physical stay at home guy. Brookbank would be the best fit if Lils isn't here, and before people say he's a useless goon on D. He averaged 15 minutes a game on a ducks team with very solid defense.
-
He's probably saying that too cover his ass for the way he's acted this season. Taking a risk on him is dumb when theres guys we can get for sure that will be 25 goal scorers at least. A for sure 25 goal scorer is better then someone who might not come across. If his skill was that far and away above everyone else's like some people are making it seem then most experts wouldnt have him slipping to the 2nd round.
-
My thoughts exactly
-
If Lilja leaves I don't wanna see a little puck mover brought in or Lebda signed to take his place. I also don't want an old guy like O'donnel. Give me someone no older then 30. Brookbank looks like a perfect fit right there.
-
Hmm well slashing a stick to stop the goalie from shooting it happens all the time. And it would help if you maybe knew what a slew foot was. Perry slightly bumped him key word being SLIGHTLY and Vokoun took a dive. Goalies do it all the time its alright, good job on Perry though it got Canada a goal. Vokoun picked a bad time to flop around.
-
He slashed his stick and didn't slew foot him? He bumped him a little and Vokouns flopping all over the place. Pathetic
-
Give it up GMR, this is not the old Lilja you and I used to love. This guy is a shell of what he used to be.
-
Its not worth the risk when we've already had 2 of our most high end prospects bolt back to Europe on us. We need guys we know for sure will be here and be able to produce.
-
I like pre injury Lilja and all but really the only guys he had a good go with wereBoll and Sharp. Sharp isn't the toughest guy around and Souray he landed a good punch and they kinda lost their balance it was a TKO or anything. Janik is a better fighter then Lilja is what I'm trying to say, and much more willing to go.
-
Yeah I woudn't say San Jose has much of a scoring third line. Chicago does yeah butt hats because to have a good scoring third line you need to draft good players and have them on good contracts while theyre scoring. Detroit had Flip, Sammy and Hudler(?). Sammy was a plug turned decent player by us, Flip and Huds were both drafted by us so they were on bargain prices. Now that those guys got their contracts we don't have that scoring third line.
-
No kidding. Ericcson had a solid, close fight with Ryan Clowe this year. The same Ryan Clowe who made mince meat out of George Parros this year. If Ericcson started fighting more often he could become borderline heavyweight. And I wouldn't say Lilja is willing anymore. Miller I saw drop the gloves once this year but he has 1 fight to his name in his career so I wouldn't say him either. Eaves actually shows some ability when it comes to fighting in the 2 he had this year. He could start doing it a bit more to really make himself valuable.
-
I'm no draft expert but I've been seeing that Macfarland has been dropping a lot and some mocks having him going around 20. I remember hearing last year he had the skill to maybe go top 5 this year. He's apparently the powerforward we've been looking for because he plays a rough and tumble game but has goalscoring ability as well. A mean Franzen is what I've been getting the vibe of. A big hitter and a guy who sticks up for teammates but racks up points. Since he was injured all season he's dropped considerably. Do you guys think he could potentially drop to the wings or is his talent level just too high?
-
Not even 5 really. Add abdlekader who I think is going to surprise us next year with his toughness along with a guy like Nystrom or Winchester or who knows maybe even someone even tougher like Prust and this team is already respectably tough. They wouldn't be getting pushed around anymore thats for sure. Then I noticed earlier an interview had it kinda sounding like Lilja won't be back so maybe Janik is in. He'll fight 6 times and Ericcson will fight more with a tougher team to back him up. Philly is probably the toughest team in the league and they do it without a heavy weight fighter in the lineup. Detroit has some guys that could potentially fall to them in the draft this year as well that could be tough players. Mcilrath obviously but Austin Watson and Macfarland are both fairly tough power forwards. I hope we can get one of those 3, they say Macfarland just started adding toughness to his game and so the sky is kind of the limit for him. I guess we'll see on June 25th.
