$35 All YOu Can Drink in Tampa

Get off your high horse. Just because you dont drink doesnt mean someone else cant go out, enjoy the atmosphere before the game and get a good buzz on while being able to control themselves. I'm sure theyre not gonna be serving to the assholes who cant walk anymore. As for how do they get home.. however they would get home from the game if they were drinking beer at it or if they were in sitting at a bar. They have their options, cabs, buses etc. Just because people are paying 35 bucks to drink some beer doesnt mean its going to be a bunch of people walking around puking in the concourse at the game. Besides, its american beer and its made by coors. Thats a recipe for not getting drunk if I ever heard one Stella? Self proclaimed beer drinkers drink stella now?! Thats a beer snob beer if I ever heard one

If you Could Change Five Outcomes in Hockey History

Not a fan of when people bring up Clarke's slash but make no mention of the Russians play/antics. Kicking with skates on is fine and overlooked by some, but Clarke's slash is the worst thing seen in the hockey world. Russians saying they couldnt find hotels for the Canadians wives and jailing Canadian fans for cheering too much are a couple other things that come to mind. Dirty play gets you dirty play. The Canadians weren't saints, but the Russians didnt mind trying to play a style of game the Canadians had perfected

This kids play has been stellar, I think that last d spot is going to be E and Kindl battling it out for playoffs. He had another big hit tonight, Fraser went to hit him and Smith popped him good. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20112012,2,1045&navid=sb:highlights If you go on there and go to hits fraser on Smith is the one Im talking about. He got Brown with one like that last time. I wish some of his hits would show up on youtube. Hes had a big one on Kane, Dustin Brown, Colin Fraser and another one against Nashville along the boards but I dont remember who it was on. Wish I could find some videos!

The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

I could see Holland making that trade and doing somethnig along the lines of what is being said in the article. "Look Danny, we want you on this team and youre a Michigan boy who knows Nill well. We'll sign you and get you in a few games to end this season and make you a little bit of cash. Than we'll put you in GR for one season where youll be our first dman call up. After that youre with the big squad" Couldnt someone see Holland saying something along those lines? When have the wings ever had such a highly sought after NCAA free agent on their front door gift wrapped like this?

HF Boards: Red Wings Top 20, Spring Edition

Yeah but Callahan is small lol so he'll get his shot. No but actually I think since hes home grown drafted and developed Callahan (and maybe Cayer) will get their fair shake to make this wings team

HF Boards: Red Wings Top 20, Spring Edition

I have the same sentinment. Sheahan is our only prospect that has size, uses it and I think is likely to have a solid NHL career. Jurco is big at least but doesnt really play with size. Tvrdon isnt a big softie out there but I'm not buying the hype on him yet. Our defense seems to have solid size in the prospect pool though, Alqvist is the only one that is small

Nothing to really write home about tonight but had another pretty big hit along the boards at one point. Hes definitely looked more physical then I expected him too

That pass last night was sick, the sense to jump up like that is great to see. Also had a pretty big hit on Brown. Well Brown went to hit him and Smith completely stood him up and made him look like an idiot. He held the line really well on one play and drew a penalty on it as well. 5 points in 8 games, solid defensively, 2 big hits and beat a guy up.

    Biggest Agitator in the NHL

Living 30 minutes from Buffalo I see a lot of the sabres and let me tel you, if the wings played buffalo often Kaltea would be winning this poll in a land slide. We all see Ott play in the western conference but man the s*** Kaleta pulls is ridiculous. Hes also a spot picker (when he does fight he wins a lot though, its strange)
  10. With how beat up the wings are that line will probably end up playing pretty good minutes. Babcock usually plays rookies a little less in their first games while they adapt. Good chance for Nyquist to show if hes good enough to play in the playoffs for this team or not. He does man the point on the PP with the griffins quite a bit

No s***, Sherlock. Doesnt mean that people talking about a specific player cant be excited to see what he brings to the table tonight

I was actually thinking this too but for some reason I dont see him fighting 2 games in a row, not sure why. He might be all pumped up that Babcock said he liked what he saw though and now that theyve got a full set of D he might not think twice about it. Hes the type of guy I dont really want to see fighting for no reason but only when he needs to because something happens. If Rinaldo is running around again like he did last game on Ericcson then go for it. Imagine if he beat the s*** out of another guy in back to back nights, he would become an instant favourite of every wings fan

"He asked me to go a few times," Smith said. "I didn't want to because we only had five 'D.' I didn't want to put the guys down but there was a scrum in front of the net and he dropped the gloves. I didn't have an opportunity to get away other than to turtle and I don't do that. I apologized to the guys. Love this quote. Especially the part about not turtling, Babcock seemed to love it too saying that he can fight all he wants when we have 6 d because he handled himself well

    Abdelkader mic'd up

Babcocks post game interview was pretty funny. Saying he wasnt a fan of playing with only 4 d but because he did so well he can scrap all he wants when they have 6. Babcocks gotta love that dimension of his game

I was stuck watching the chicago feed on centre ice and they interviewed Kane between periods. Apparently after his hit there was a lot of talk to Smith from the Chicago guys and Smith mustve known they were going to be gunning for him. Nice to have a guy who can play regular minutes and pump little twats like Shaw when need be

    The Rocket

Avery plays Bob Dill if I remember correctly but agree its a very good movie.
  19. http://watch.tsn.ca/clip576992#clip576975 this would be huge cause they could use some more defenseman in the pipeline. 6'3, mobile dman who grew up playing hockey with Nills kid. If anyone cant see the video Bob Mackenzie basically says this kid is good enough that he is going to get 30 NHL contract offers after this season, hes from Michigan, grew up playing hockey with Nills kid and the wings have the clear inside track. Last game Mackenzie said basically everyone except Mr Illitch himself was there to scout him. Fischer, Chelios, Draper, Holland, Nill, Devellano were all there watching him. Sounds promising, could use some defensive prospects because outside of Smith, theres not much to write home about. Sproul and OUelette are solid but nothing to really write home about

top NCAA free agent to the wings?

Yeah I posted that in November before Ouellet started tearing up, but still hes not some absolutely AMAZING prospect. Theres plenty of questions about his game andhes playing in the q which worries me as well. I'm also not sold at all on Almqvist.. small, slow and soft isnt a great combo at all

top NCAA free agent to the wings?

All the wing prospects like Jersey shore sorry but you should be extremely concerned for the future But yeah Dekeyser is likely a wing, he will probably be smart enough to realize there isnt really any prospects even close to the NHL besides Smith and he'll step in as the number 2 dman prospect/1st call up while getting to stay near home.
  22. I dunno, hes given them obvious moentum boosts after a couple of his scraps. His first scrap agaisnt Lapierre it was especially obvious. Pretty sure the wings came down and scored right after he fought Wilson too Robidas is 5'11 200lbs, pretty stocky bastard and he always has played a fairly physical brand of hockey
  23. No I think what hes trying to say is that Drake was an absolutely huge hitter on the cup run and also capable of sticking up for his teammates through the regular season. He would have had more then 5 fights that year but Downey did all the fighting on that squad. Abdelkader is like a Dallas Drake, capable of defending teammates and a big hitter but shouldnt be the guy carrying the load of the fighting because he cant handle the Clowes of the league. Adding one guy to take on the brunt of the load and allowing Abdelkader to run around more crushing guys without having to fight all the time would be perfect Detroit needs to get their hands on Prust this offseason And for the record I think Abdelkader is a fine middlweight scrapper, hes fought some pretty big tough guys lately and was at the end of a long shift against Jones. Hes really only just embraced the fighting role and played NCAA so he couldnt hone his fighting skill like guys who played in the CHL. Give him a couple more years and he'll be a very good middleweight

His first fight in pro hockey, against an AHL goon that fights 25 times a year with years of experience after Smith was fresh outta the NCAA http://www.nhlfightclub.com/videos/24780/brendan-smith-vs-antoine-roussel-dec-11-2011ahl-grand-rapids-griffins-vs-chicago-wolves.html his latest fight against an experienced scrapper. The wings finally have a guy who can play big minutes and play tough. He also throws some pretty big hits, watch him dish out some damage in the corners tonight youll notice it

You wont find a better comparison then Niklas Kronwall. He has the booming slapshot, really good hands and a really good all arond offensive skillset like Kronwall. He has some questions in his own zone like Kronwall used to but Kronwall has ironed them out with age. He has a penchant for the big hit and a nasty side to his game. He cant hit like Kronwall can (not many can) but he makes up for it with his nastier play in the corners and by fighting. The thing that will surprise most people about Smith is his ability to read the play and jump up and intercept passes, he does it like clockwork in the AHL. I've watched him plenty and you will never think of a better comparison then a bit grittier version of Kronwall, the similarities are scary almost
