I'm a huge Cleary fan (he's a newfy afterall) and lets be honest here guys, he's what a true hockey player should be like. He hits(hard in the playoffs, ask Phaneuf), is good for 20 goals a season, won't take s*** from other teams, STEPS UP HUGE IN THE PLAYOFFS AND PLAYED THROUGH A COMPLETELY TORN GROIN AND A BROKEN BONE IN HIS HAND LAST PLAYOFFS. If everyone on our team had the heart of Cleary on this team we would go 16-0 every playoff. To suggest we should move him with Hudler coming back is crazy. Hudler has put up 20 goals before but where is he come playoffs? Not performing because he's undersized and soft. With all his injuries this year should we really throw Cleary under the bus? Wait til the playoffs start then pass judgement because he seems healthy now and has found his form. Eaves, Helm, Cleary is a great playoff line. Speedy Helm creating chances, Eaves with a hard shot, great defensively and has shown he can score 20 and then Cleary with his goal scoring but still grinding. All three guys can hit. These guys are gonna f*** s*** up come playoff time.

Wow we have what sounds like a huge hit, fight and seems like some other guys were roughing it up. My satellite just happens to be on the fritz because of the bad weather. I'm pissed

This would be the best thing Hudler could do for the Red Wings. Get traded for maybe this pick and another one. This guy could be a building block for a new style of Detroit team. Lets say he is the next Hatcher(in his prime hatcher), he could be a guy to replace Nick. He would be the solution to all the arguments on LGW. No more enforcer threads because we would have one of the heavyweight champs of the league and he also has enough talent to go in the first round of the draft. The fact that Holland had him highlighted on that sheet of players he was scouted is a pretty good sign. If we go out early in playoffs we have a real legit shot at getting this guy.

I wouldn't say Mindfly is most hated. Sure he's a negative nancy but at least he has an opinion and says what he thinks. All you do is act like a jackass calling people dumb and questioning their credibility. I would rather read 1000 negative posts then read one posted by you .. just sayin'

When Lids goes it will suck but I can also see potential in it. Kronwall has offensive firepower, hits hard and is solid defensively. The extra minutes he eats up when Lids retires could transform him into a norris contender. Like said earlier when Lids leaves the puck possession may go with him. It seems to me this season has shown it may. Our bottom lines play dump and chase pretty much and our drafting has become more gritty type players. Ferraro, Nestrasil and Callahan for example last draft. I think that when Nick retires our team will go through its first semi-rebuild in a long time. We'll be bringing in a big name defenseman, maybe trading a big name forward for said defenseman. s***s gonna hit the fan for sure.

Okay while I was watching the Griffs game tonight I was talking to some of the guys and I really noticed something and I was wondering if any fight haters noticed too. Having an enforcer does really make the team play with more balls. Think about while May was playing. We had guys like Meech and CLeary fighting and we were just playing like we had overall a bigger pair of balls while May was in the lineup. So I just wanted to say it does seem to me an enforcer does have an effect on the team more so then most ppl here on LGW care to admit. And no I'm not flame-baiting haha I'm just saying something I've noticed lately.

But seriously wings lets win one I don't wanna go into playoffs on a 5 game slump.

I would say Dino is the master of it more then Homer. Dino got 600 goals playing that style.

There are younger, better options to replace Bert this offseason. Armstrong would be a huge improvement I think.

It may be hard to come by but a player like that is worth looking for. Hollands job isn't supposed to be easy so why shouldn't he go looking for a trade like that? Its something that he could look into, I'm not saying it would happen at all. What I'm saying is that it would be better for this team to get a player like that. The thing about Huds knowing the system, this year our third and fourth lines are playing a dump and chase style game which is more NA style and wouldn't suit Hudler. He won't be playing with Flip and Sammy again here, it'll be with high energy, hard forecheck to get scoring chances type guys liek Eaves, Helm or Abdelkader. Youre also forgetting the fact that Hudler knows Dynamo's system really well because he skipped out on his team this year. I would love to see him traded when he gets back, he could bring back a big return and possibly bring in some elements this team has been missing.

I watch a lot of Toronto and I wouldnt say Kessel is overrated. He has nothing to work with at all really except Bozak recently and still night in and night out is consistently getting scoring chances. Kessel really looks like the best player out there regardless of who they are playing. I would say Redden is overrated though.
-
Yeah well I don't think we need to be loyal to him really, he played a season and a half with us. Why not bring in someone younger who does what he is supposed to like Armstrong or Arty?
-
No I'm arguing that if he was brought back and traded for Downie that it would help the team more because we wouldn't have soft, little Hudler who deserves more money playing on our team. You are possibly the worst reader on this forum. Either that or since we're talking about a soft, little euro you chose to ignore what was said earlier in the thread.

Yeah its hard to say. It seems lately that Montreal has just been messed up and maybe he would wanna leave. Detroit is fairly close to Montreal and he seems like a player Kenny would like. I've always thought he was decent, pretty quick, good hands but this year he really got his scoring touch.
-
From that list I would take any of.. Nick Boynton- depending on what Lilja does Colby Armstrong- provides what Bert should. Some grit and some scoring Artyukhin- Big body that has some hands, hits like a truck and can fight half decent. Better version of Bert I think. Brad Winchester- Fighter that can score 10 or 15 a season Plekanec- Some 2/3rd line scoring depth The of course a fighter. Ben Eager might have to leave chi town because of the salary issues. Boogard simply because he is scary and does intimidate guys. Boll because he isn't an old school enforcer, he can skate, hits a lot and fights like crazy. Or maybe add someone like Downie or Clarkson, they aren't really big heavy weights but they can handle themselves and play.
-
Now that he's playing in Toronto and I see a lot of hockey from the leafs in my area, he is FOR SURE overrated. He isn't the player he came into the league as. He has the occasional big hit, doesn't fight anymore and just doesn't have his swagger he once did. In Calgary he used to be a guy that could play and play well, take your head off with a hit or punch it off. He just doesn't do any of that really anymore.

Fleury is going to be on Hockey Central shortly. I dont know how ppl can be such sick f***s and get pardoned for it....
-
My bad. I put Selke because my friend was saying Ferraro was going to suck and be no better then Draper so I said I wouldn't mind that since Drapes scored 30 goals almost and won the Selke. Was saying the word Selke I guess so I typed it... Oops

I would rather go for someone that brings what Bert is supposed too. Either someone who is a pretty legit scorer or someone who is physically intimidating. Alot of ppls line ups seem pretty much the same as this years but I think after how we thought we weren't even gonna make playoffs til we got hot at the end that Kenny will make a shake up of some kind. Either bring in a few rougher guys for the grind of the season or he'll sign a more legit scorer then Bert.

Today the broadcasters during the Colorado game said something along the likes of "Duchene has an outside chance of the Calder, but it seems more and more like Jimmy Howard will be the one to win it"
-
Yeah thats what I'm kind of thinking as well. Both Eaves and Miller aren't really necessary especially with Ab coming up who is another third liner next season most likely. I don't know which of the 2 I would rather keep, probably Eaves I guess. Hudler coming back would be nice, if not sign another scorer type winger and then add a Boll type. Seriously if we could lock up Boll I would be pumped. He's a really solid skater, chips in and always leads the league in fights. Oh yeah he's only 23 so locking up someone who can play and fight would be great. I just doubt that it'll happen, a player like him is hard to come by.
-
Him coming back as wings property doesn't have any bearing at all because being wings property he should've played for their team. He was an RFA so yes he is wings property just like every other RFA on their teams. Difference is that most of them don't fly to Russia because they want more money.
-
Hossa was a rental and most knew that so no I wouldn't blame him really. Samuelson didn't take us to arbitration and handcuff us from signing a legit scorer but Hudler who we drafted and became the player he is in our system took us to arbitration and left on bad terms while he was an RFA. SO he is more to blame then the other 2.
-
He should win the Calder and be nominated for the Vezina really, so yes he is that good.
