I gotta say, almost all these players mentioned in this thread I like more than Andersson. I'll be shocked if he's a regular for us next season.
-
Tough choice here... Before this season started I would've said Miller hands down. But so far this season Eaves has seemed to step his game up (almost to where he was pre jaw injury). So I gotta give the slight edge to Eaves on this one.

Actually, the Superbowl generally has fairly decent officiating. Usually no huge blunders or errors that effect the outcome of who wins and loses the game. There is no doubt the NHL has (by far) the worst and most inconsistent officiating in ALL sports. And it's not even close... Until the NHL accepts a 'coaches challenge' type of rule, the outcomes of games will continue to be altered by sub-par officiating.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Stamkos is definitely not injury prone. However, regardless of how it happened, he has now had a very major injury. And just like a car, once you have one major accident, sometimes other little things can start to go wrong even after things get patched up. Or, he could re-injure the same leg again. Whereas Tavares is likely to stay more durable, since he has avoided any major injuries thus far into his career. If this question was asked before Stamkos broke his leg, it would be a no brainer. But considering the circumstances here, (along with Tavares playing on a much worse team) I give Tavares a very slight edge.
-
Such a close call between these two. But for me I give the slight edge to Tavares. He's more durable and has a lot less to work with than Stamkos does. But like others have said, you really can't go wrong with either one.

GDT 1/22 GDT : Blackhawks 4 at Red Wings 5 (SO)
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I think it's pretty safe to say that we'll need a miracle to win this game. I'll be shocked if they don't completely blow us out. I'm guessing something like 4-1 or 5-1. -
Tough to judge Z too harshly right now considering the amount of key players that are out. Even the best leaders ever can't always win games by themselves. Sure he had a few giveaways tonight, but that's gonna happen sometimes to even the best players. Z is a great leader and captain. And generally is amazing defensively. Honestly, if there is anyone to blame through all this, it's Mike Babcock. I still think Babs is a great coach and motivator. But when it comes to dolling out minutes and assembling line combos, he basically throws common sense and logic out the window. Things aren't looking great right now, but there is no doubt in my mind that if we can get healthy we'll contend. Although obviously that's a pretty big "if" right now.

Would love to be optimistic about tonight's game (especially with Helm's return). But there's still so many key injuries right now...And the Blues have been one of the best teams in the West so far this season (and they just got Steen back). Let's just say I'll be pretty surprised if we even get a point tonight. Hopefully I'm wrong but I just don't see it happening.

gdt 1/16 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Rangers 1

No Tatar?? He isn't listed on any injury reports...thought his father's funeral already took place but I'm starting to think that's not the case. -
Cleary should be suspended for elbow to head
TheDetroitRedWings replied to LAWings's topic in General
No doubt about that one. For sure suspension worthy. For the sake of bettering our lineup, I'm hoping for a lengthy one. -
Might wanna be careful with that. The mods have been cracking down on Olympic trolling.

Honestly, Sweden's only slight weakness seems to be goaltending. But not so weak that it should hinder them much. I'll be surprised if the Swedes don't get the gold.
-
Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik over Keith Yandle and Dustin Byfuglien??? Sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous.
-
Go USA and Go Sweden!!!
-
Exactly. Or I'd even take switching Tatar and Abby. So sick of undeserving players getting on the top lines while Tatar remains in the bottom 6.
-
Agreed. Very surprising (especially since Bobby Ryan was on the 2010 team and is having a huge year so far). Also surprised to see Byfuglien get the snub.

Injured Ericsson out 3-5 weeks with Fractured Ribs

Gotta be. No one else we have on the lower pairings is even close to Danny's level. -
gdt 12/21 GDT: Red Wings 5 @ Maple Leafs 4 (SO, yes, SO)

Honestly, I'm not surprised. Haven't been impressed with Kindl at all this season. Almost seems as though he's regressed somewhat from last year. -
I still think Babcock is an elite coach and definitely one of the best in the business. But if we don't make any noise in the playoffs (or God forbid miss the playoffs all-together) then we really need to consider a change... As a motivator I think Babs is second to none. The problem is, he doesn't seem to be very savvy when it comes to putting together lines, and dolling out minutes to deserving players. To the point where at times it becomes mind-boggling. Now if it were just a few minor issues that would be one thing, but these inefficiencies mentioned are very major parts of the game, that can basically make or break your team (and right now it's def more on the "break" side). But there is a long season left to go, and technically we are in a playoff spot right now despite all that's happened. So for now let's just hope we can get some healthy bodies back into the lineup and get a win-streak going. If we can stay healthy, there's no doubt in my mind we can contend for a Cup.

Right?? Didn't the mods JUST post a GDT guidelines page? Smh...

Milan Lucic involved in a Vancouver club altercation
TheDetroitRedWings replied to a topic in General
I'm not a Lucic fan at all. But in this case I'm def on his side here. From what I've heard from a few Canadian friends of mine, Vancouver is full of more douchebags than anywhere else in Canada. You know it's gotta be pretty bad when the guy says he's never coming back (other than to play the Canucks) to his own hometown. Guessing you'll probably never see him in a Canucks jersey (although that probably wasn't gonna happen anyway). -
Oh Sheahan called up? Better put him on the 1st line while keeping one of our best players (Tatar) in the bottom 6...smh
