Jesus, I sure hope not. Smith was garbage (not giving up on him yet tho), DeKeyser is clearly the better overall d-man. It's not even close.
-
Glad to hear it. I liked Murph, but obviously they aren't gonna bring him back. Ozzie should do great. And just like Murph, current players respect him and will more likely talk to him, than some suit reporter.

My thoughts exactly. And what's with them putting a white stripe on the left arm, and leaving the right arm completely solid red? By far the worst jerseys of all. And that's really saying something, considering how bad Nike messed up all the other team's jerseys.
-
Without a doubt Dekeyser is our biggest defensive x-factor. The kid has so much potential, and if he lives up to the expectations he could easily be a game changer for a team that is somewhat lacking on the blue line. I'm still hoping we can snag a top 4 d-man before the trade deadline. But for now Dekeyser could quite possibly move into a #2 spot at some point this season (if not right away).

So every team has the fake laces?? And there seems to be something shiny on the shoulders as well. Another jersey fail by Nike, what a surprise.

Hank-Pav-Bert Alfie-Weiss-Franzen Tatar-Helm-Nyquist Tootoo-Andersson-Abby Kronwall-Dekeyser Kindl-Ericsson Smith-Quincey Howard I know Abby finally started to play well on the top line. But let's be real, he's def not a top line guy. He should be on an energy/grit line. And even though Big Bert has had some injury issues, his chemistry with Pavel far exceeds Abby's. Hope Babcock goes with these lines.

Honestly, it looks more like a Preds jersey than a Sabres jersey. Big thumbs down from this guy. At least we won't see em much being the 3rd jersey and all.

What forward is the Red Wings X Factor?
TheDetroitRedWings replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
Had to go with Weiss. The guy is a goal scoring machine. And most likely will have career numbers in our system with the talent we'll surround him with. Not saying it's an absolute lock, but he's def the biggest X-factor on this team. -
Teemu Selanne to return for a final season
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Nightfall's topic in General
The question is, are you kidding? He's been a diving whiner since his rookie season. And it's only gotten worse with age. Just so happens he is also a very talented goal scoring machine. -
Teemu Selanne to return for a final season
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Nightfall's topic in General
Exactly. I'm glad he's coming back cause he still has some good hockey left in the tank. But I got no extra "love" for the guy like a few ppl here. He's the same person who said "the Wings always have the refs on their side" when playing at the Joe. And I also seem to remember him putting down Zetterberg as a hockey player a few years back. -
Gotta say I agree with most here. God awful. The Stars I actually don't mind (sorta makes sense considering the 50 we have on our flag). But the fake laces and small tiny little 'USA' in the k-swiss logo is unacceptable. How did this possibly get approved??

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=430317 Real nice signing for the Caps. IMO it's actually an upgrade to Ribeiro. In fact, if the Wings hadn't signed Weiss, I was hoping we'd sign Grabo. Will be interesting to see how much $ they gave him.

Signed Wings sign Nyquist to 2-year, $1.9m deal ($950k/yr cap hit)

And what exactly is that issue? -
Devils sign Jagr (1 yr deal, financial terms not yet disclosed)

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=428172 After losing Kovy they definitely had to sign someone. Looks like Brunner won't be a Devil next season afterall -

Agreed. -

TheDetroitRedWings replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
I actually agree that they are an up and coming team. But to add to your earlier point about their playoff success last year. Well, the Wings were 1 game away from eliminating the Stanley Cup champions, so obviously it's not that we're just better on paper, we're just plain better (and that was before the additions of Alfredsson and Weiss) and we proved it on the ice. -
Signed Wings sign Nyquist to 2-year, $1.9m deal ($950k/yr cap hit)
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Personally, I'd hold off on buying a Nyquist jersey till after this current contract ends. This is definitely a "prove it" kind of deal. And if he proves it, then buy his jersey. Otherwise, could be a little risky dropping $200+ on a player that's not quite fully proven yet. -
New enemies, whom do you fear the most?
TheDetroitRedWings replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
First of all, we are the Mighty Detroit Red Wings. We fear no team, other teams fear us. HOWEVER, Our biggest threat to winning the division is hands down the Boston Bruins. They have a good mix of fowards, fairly solid overall defense, and a shutdown goaltender. Being in the finals last year, and winning the Cup a few years back was definitely no fluke. That being said, I still believe we have a great chance of winning the division. Especially with the additions of Alfredsson and Weiss. Should be an exciting year in Motown!!! -

Wow! And I thought I loved the Andersson deal. But this deal is even better considering what Gus brings to the table! Bravo Kenny! You are Legend -
Who do we Unload, reload on before the season starts?
TheDetroitRedWings replied to sjr2012's topic in General
I'm a little late to this thread, but for me the only player that I'm 100% positive we should move on from is Patrick Eaves. He never quite looked like himself after missing that year with the jaw/concussion issue. Even if we have to just straight up cut ties with no gain in return. -
Preds Managemant Charging Hawks Fans Double
TheDetroitRedWings replied to vladdy16's topic in General
Too bad that's not what you said. Maybe you should take a second to re-read your own words. You said if you think this is a new thing, you haven't bought tickets to a sporting event in quite some time (so you meant to say anywhere except the state of Michigan where the team this website is dedicated to resides?). I have bought many tickets, to many different sporting events, very recently and for a long time, and I've never seen or went through that, cause none of my teams have done that (proving your ticket-buying logic very wrong). And umm, I live in Michigan (just like many of the fans here) so obviously most of us stick with events here in our home state. So, despite the fact that I attend around 20 live sporting events a year (of all different sports), I have "limited experience" in ticket buying because I attend games in my home state? Maybe I can hit the lotto and decide it's time to drive thousands of miles from home to watch teams I can watch here in Detroit/Michigan. Then maybe I can finally gain some ticket buying experience But until I become a millionaire, I guess I'll stick with sporting events here in Michigan. And I'm not your pal, friend. -
Preds Managemant Charging Hawks Fans Double
TheDetroitRedWings replied to vladdy16's topic in General
I've bought tickets for every Detroit sports team and several UofM football games every year for the past 13-15 years, and I've never heard of a team double-charging a specific fan-base (and no other fan-bases). Also, your statement makes no sense considering no Michigan sports teams have done this, so how would not buying tickets lately correlate to knowing or not knowing about this? Zero logic there buddy -

I hate Hawks bandwagoners as much as the next guy. But come on Preds, this is quite ridiculous. And to be honest, this kind of thing should be banned by the NHL -

No surprise here. The USA junior team just won gold recently. The young Americans are stacked! Keep it going boys! -
Signed Joakim Andersson re-signs, 2yrs, $1.465m ($732,500k cap hit)
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Ram's topic in General
Per Helena St. James twitter, the deal has an annual cap hit of $732,500. Yet another smart deal by Holland. Atta boy Kenny!
