Poll: If you could pick any 20 players to start an NHL franchise with.
TheDetroitRedWings replied to a topic in General
Dude are you serious? Pavel is EASILY a top 5 player in the league if not top 3. Please place the pipe down and walk away. Epic fail -
Last night he thanked all the fans for a great first year in Detroit and can't wait for next year. So it def sounds like he'll be back. My guess is Kenny will give him somewhere between 2-2.5 mil. Would've been a lot more if he had kept his pace going from the first 20 games. But now that he has an NHL season under his belt he will surely improve and be even better than this season. I'm thinking the deal will be 3-4 years

I'm with the OP and most others here, Go Kings and Go Bruins. Doubt either will hoist the cup, but at least there's some hope

Jimmy Williams for Conn Smythe

I really hope this happens so I can start hating on the Avs again. There was no other goalie in the league with less class than Patty Wahhh

WCSF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Blackhawks 1 - (Series Tied at 1)
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Obviously goes without saying this is an insanely huge game. One of the rare times that a game 2 is basically a must win. God I hope this one doesn't go down to the wire. A 4-1 or 4-2 Wings victory would be perfect! GO RED WINGS!!!! -

Couldn't agree more. I just can't come up with a possible reason why Tootoo has been a healthy scratch in every playoff game so far. His style of play is actually suited more for playoff hockey than reg season hockey, yet every game he sits and watches... And what's even more frustrating is worthless Dan Cleary not only gets to play every night, he get to play on our 2nd line??? I swear to God I love Babcock, but in this instance I can't even begin to wrap my head around why he would play an inferior player over a player that gives us a better chance to win -

It's nice going into a series with absolutely no pressure. Whereas playing the Ducks there was a lot of pressure considering how well we played them during the season. And heck, most of the experts picked Detroit in 6 against the Ducks as well. But this series almost everyone is picking Chicago (and truly I don't blame them). Especially with the way Crawford always plays against us. But at this point the only thing that could really bum me out is if we get swept. Otherwise no matter how this series goes us Wings fans have to be proud of what this team did, in spite of everything we went through this year. And on top of it all, we still have quite a few million dollars to spend this offseason, so we're surely going to be even better next season! The future is extremely bright for the Wings. I definitely see our playoff streak continuing for many more years to come -
WCSF - (6) San Jose Sharks vs. (5) Los Angeles Kings
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I've took a stance on every other matchup except for this one. I definitely don't want the Kings to repeat. I want us to remain the last team to accomplish that. And I'd LOVE to get revenge on the Sharks after the last 2 playoff series they won against us (or were given by the refs). But I just can't bring myself to root for them. So at this point I just hope for a grueling 7 game series, where both teams get beaten and battered. As for my prediction, I'll say Kings in 7 Most likely Quick will be the difference -
Funny thing is at the time I completely agreed with Holland's decision to keep Franzen instead of Hossa. But right now looking back on it I would def rather have Hossa. I love the Mule and all, but Hossa's game is at a slightly higher level and he's definitely more consistent. Hopefully Franzen will have a huge series and change some ppl's minds. But as of right this moment I have to say Hossa > Franzen

Why is Cleary still on the team?
TheDetroitRedWings replied to NBCnothingbutcrosby's topic in General
Got my fingers crossed, that's for sure. He's completely worthless these days. At least before he was a pretty speedy winger. Now he literally brings nothing to the table. He loses puck battles 99% of the time, isn't physical, rarely scores, yet he plays on our 2nd line while Jordan Tootoo is a healthy scratch??? Completely mind blowing logic right there. I pray we move on from him -
I've noticed the same thing! In fact, just about a week ago FSN was interview Abby and he said "you know" well over 20 times (although I didn't exactly keep count). It was literally every single sentence and sometimes twice in a sentence. I actually started laughing near the end cause I truly think Abby has the all time "you know" record by far
-
Completely agree with the OP. I love Babs and all, but sometimes I just don't understand his logic on certain things. Tootoo > Eaves and Cleary

Not trying to sound skeptical here, but how do we know our money is going to charity? I know it's not a ton of money, but it would be nice to know that my money isn't going into the pocket of a mod on LGW (who curiously hasn't posted their own donation on this thread). I truly don't think there is a scam going on here. I'm just wondering if there is any way to prove or verify where this money is going, cause I'm sure that would entice a few more ppl into donating (myself included).

Looks like Franzen has finally put it together. With the shortened season it makes sense. Just glad he's looking like a game changer again!

Wings desperately need Bert back in the lineup. Not only his chemistry with Pavel being so great, but he's also become much better defensively in this later stage of his career, and he almost always nets one in shootout situations. If we're really gonna make a serious run here we def need Bert

Steve Ott tried "licking" Jeff Halpern's face
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA WTF?? Really have no thoughts other than I can't wait to see the gif. -
He's looked great so far which just shows how high his potential is. Looking forward to watching him grow as an NHLer for the next several years!
-
The latest reports are saying he will be making his decision sometime today. Hard to get our hopes up just yet. But hopefully his Michigan-ties and him growing up a Wings fan (and his favorite all time player was Lidstrom) will be enough to sway him our way
-
I really don't think we should waste even 1 draft pick on Jagr. Mostly for the reasons you gave (he's old and likely won't resign next year) And yeah our PP was pretty sorry earlier in the seaon. But now we're looking much better with the man advantage. If im not mistaken I think we've scored at least 1 PP goal in the last 7-8 games. On top of that we'll have Helm back any day now, and eventually Bertuzzi. We need an elite defenseman. And out of all the names I've been hearing I really hope for either Keith Yandle or Lubomir Visnovsky
-
You must not catch many games? For the most part he's been pretty solid defensively, other times he has bad giveaways and loses puck battles in the corners. Just look at the facts, he's a +1 and doesn't often contribute offensively. Many would argue Kindl is more solid defensively. Until Ericsson steps his game up to another level he is the pure definition of mediocre. But I'm glad to see he has his fanboys. I don't hate the guy, but to act like he's some great defensemen is a joke. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one I'll def give you that one. Several teams would've jumped on him. But speaking in terms of pure output and everything he brings to the table, he's at least somewhat overpayed. Not way overpayed tho. I def see where Holland was coming from at the time.
-
I agree that Ericsson is much better than Komisarek. But obviously that's not saying much. Ericsson is absolutely mediocre and is definitely overpayed by at least 1 mill. Maybe he still has some untapped potential, but I doubt he will ever be great. He's a solid, big-bodied d-man that isn't terrible or great at any aspect of the game. He's the definition of mediocre IMO
-
To my surprise Kindl is actually starting to look like a legit NHL defenseman. He still has some trouble handling the puck sometimes, and is a little sloppy with his passing, but he has far surpassed my expectations in all other areas of the game. Even his slapshot has improved quite a bit. But more so I'm noticing he's become more solid defensively. At this point, I think it's safe to say Kindl has officially earned his Winged Wheel and will never see Grand Rapids again.

If you're an animal with a severed spine we have the technology through stem cells to reverse all damage. Yet if you're a human and you have the same thing happen, you're basically f***ed. Time to start letting humans reap the benefits too...

I couldn't agree more. The only thing we can hope is when Bert, Helm and a few others come back we won't have to deal with this joke of a line anymore
