I'm annoyed by the notion that no matter what, Jimmy has the #1 spot locked up. If we're choosing between him, Joey Mac, and Ozzie, then yes Jimmy is the #1 for sure. But Vokoun is a different story. If he were a part of the equation, it's only fair to let him and Jimmy battle it out and prove on the ice who deserves the #1 spot. And that's what Kenny should've told Vokoun. Cause if he had, then maybe he would've signed with us. Obviously he's not gonna sign here if he's presented a backup role only. In my eyes, it should ALWAYS be a "may the better man win" situation. Especially with a former all star goalie like Vokoun.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract
TheDetroitRedWings replied to germanwing's topic in General
Very pleased with this signing. White is very solid, and he's good on the PP also. Great price too. Especially looking at some of the overpayed defenseman (I.E. Ericsson, Jovanowski). Still hope we sign one more impact player tho. -
I know we should be in the east in terms of where the state of Michigan is. But I love so many of the rivalries and mini-rivalries we have in the West. I will definitely miss facing western teams on a regular basis. I'm still really hoping we don't move to the East.

I understand Philly's need for picks, and signing Bryz. But to give up a player like Carter is definitely a surprise. As for the Blue Jackets, this move will help them out a lot. But their defense is still suspect at best, so my guess is they'll be golfing at the end of the reg season. Philly will regret this trade im guessing.

I would love to have Burns on this team. He's relatively cheap for what he brings to the table. His plus/minus isn't usually that great, but that would surely change for him in Detroit. Really hope this happens.

No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
Jagr would be an almost guaranteed 60 point player for us, if not more than that. I have absolutely no problem with signing him to a one year deal. In fact, I'm really crossing my fingers that he'll be a Red Wing next season. -
Setoguchi, Pavelski and Thornton are the most consistent and pathetic divers in the league. So this is obviously quite laughable!

Which conference would you rather have the Wings in?
TheDetroitRedWings replied to weGotTheCup89's topic in General
I guess I'm in the minority here. I understand where people are coming from in terms of travel and time zones. But the WC is much deeper overall. Plus, I love and enjoy a lot of our current rivalries and mini-rivalries. Also I dislike many more teams in the west than I do in the east, so for me it makes for more exciting, intense games. -
Well unfortunately he can say bye bye to his espn job. Although, Jalen Rose got a dui and they didn't fire him. So maybe Barnaby still has a chance to keep his job. But considering what he did(or allegedly did) I'm guessing they fire him by the end of the weekend.

Shocking and tragic. I was never a big fan of his. But I had nothing but mad respect for his ability to drop the gloves and destroy his opponents. Hard to believe we'll never get to see him fight again. RIP Boogey

Honestly, I just can't imagine that he'll retire when he is still at the top of his game. Even if his game drops somewhat next season (it probably won't) he'll still be a top 10 d-man in the league. I truly believe Nick will return for at least one more year.

This is definitely a 'pick your poison' type of situation. Pros and cons for each team really. The Sharks: they have a dynamic offense, but their goaltending has been spotty all season long. The Red Wings have an equally dynamic offense, and when healthy are the deeper team. If we stay healthy we should be able to take them out in a 7 game series. Plus, the revenge factor would be an added bonus. The Preds: they have a very all around solid team. They can put pucks in the net, yet they play good team defense as well. And not only do they have a great goaltender, but also a really good backup in Lindback. But, the Wings have a much more potent offense and a much deeper overall team. And about to get two superstars back (Hank & The Mule). As long as Jimmy plays a solid game, it should be another series victory for the Red Wings. If I absolutely had to choose one, I guess I would choose the Sharks because my desire for revenge is just too strong. Also, Niemi is mediocre, and obviously goaltending is crucial in the post season. So for me, as much as I respect what these other teams can do, I also know what we can do. And I'm very confident that the result of playing either of these two teams will be the Red Wings advancing to the WCF.

Stevie Y should be a lock for this one. He took a lightning team that was a bottom feeder last season, to an instant playoff/Stanley Cup contender. From day 1 he made move after move to acquire the players he thought would help turns things around. Not only was he the man on the ice, but obviously he's the man off the ice as well. Great job Steve! I still hope he returns to Detroit some day.

Honestly, as much as I've been pleased with Modano's game since his return, we gotta go with the lineup that's getting us wins. But the great thing about all of our depth is, if we have any further injuries, Modano can come in and help fill the void.

One part I do remember is we had to pick the winner of each series, along with the number of games we think the series will end in. But that's about all I remember about it.

Can't remember for sure, but didn't we do a playoff oriented game last year? If so, we should definitely do it again. Anyone remember the rules we played with last year?
