Unbelievable that ANYONE would complain about us getting favorable officiating. I've never seen another team get screwed over by the refs as often as the Wings do.

Yeah, they're definitely hypocrites. And that hit wasn't even near as bad as Brown's hit on Hudler a few years back. That being said, any player that lays down a dirty hit like that needs to be punished in some way.
-
This is a tough one right here. Cause IMO if we win the cup, Nick will definitely hang em up. But if we don't win the cup, I could see Nick returning for another season. So really it depends on our success or lack thereof IMO.

Wow, I gotta say these look better than ever. I've always liked the month to month wallpapers on this site. But this year he's outdone himself. And if this wallpaper is borrowed from the site's new look, the new site should look pretty amazing. Seriously, great job man.

NHL Predicts A Capitals-Red Wings Stanley Cup Final
TheDetroitRedWings replied to skyphoenix's topic in General
I definitely agree with their western prediction. But I just don't see the Caps making it all the way to the finals. I'm predicting the Devils in the east. That should be a great final series. I just hope the Pens don't make it to the finals. -
He should've just accepted the original offer. Big mistake Lilja. Although, I'm glad he turned it down. Cause now we have a replacement that is an upgrade to Lilja; Ruslan Salei.
-
I really like Cammalleri. Liked him for years and still do. But that was beyond crossing the line. He should definitely be fined and suspended. No question about it.
-
I agree with the general consensus on this one. Eaves > Matls

I would say go with the player that you consider your favorite. That's usually the process I go with when buying a jersey. For me, I would go with a Zetterberg jersey. I still don't have number 40 in red or white. Right now I have a red Yzerman, a white Lidstrom, and a red Datsyuk. I would probably have more, but authentic jersey's aren't cheap, and I hate wearing replicas. My next jersey will be a white Zetterberg. I'm thinking sometime around Christmas time.

Thought I was the only one. I'm still waiting on my trophy for winning the football league last year. I'm sure It's coming any day now though.

He needed to perform last year, and the year before that. I'm pretty annoyed at players that play balls to the wall during their contract year. It gives the impression that they were half-assing it in previous years. I mean I understand that players want to make the most $$ they can. But if you're a professional athlete, getting paid to do your job, you should be playing balls to the wall every night, every season. That being said, I definitely hope big E kicks it into another gear this season. Even if it's financially motivated, I'll be happy to see the Wings give him a pay raise if he steps it up and plays like a beast. Although it still annoys me that this magical new "gear" didn't exist until potential big $$ comes into the picture.

Crosby doesn't suck but he's a whiney little bitch, however.
TheDetroitRedWings replied to lookalive07's topic in General
I totally disagree. Don't get me wrong, I do think that Sid is a whiney *****. But if someone rode Sid's head into the boards like that, I would completely understand him losing his cool. The difference is Sid has reacted like that over getting outplayed. And that's what makes him a whiney little *****. Yzerman could have been seriously injured. ANY player would react the way Steve did. Hell, most would've done worse. -
Bruins - Marc Savard Sabres - Ryan Miller Canadiens - Brian Gionta Senators - Daniel Alfredsson Leafs - Phil Kessel Devils - Zach Parise Isles - Kyle Okposo Rangers - Marian Gaborik Flyers - Danny Briere Penguins - Seriously can't name one now that Gonchar has left. Thrashers - Slava Kozlov Hurricanes - Jussi Jokinen Panthers - David Booth Lightning - Martin St. Louis Capitals - Alex Ovechkin Flames - Rene Bourque Avalanche - Paul Stastny Oilers - Sheldon Souray Wild - Martin Havlat Canucks - Ryan Kesler Blackhawks - Patrick Kane Blue Jackets - Antoine Vermette Red Wings - Pavel Datsyuk by a slight edge with about 10 other players being a close 2nd. Predators - Steve Sullivan Blues - David Backes Ducks - Bobby Ryan Stars - Mike Ribeiro Kings - Anze Kopitar Coyotes - Wojtek Wolski Sharks - Joe Pavelski

No off season will ever beat the 01-02 off season. Landing Dominik Hasek, Brett Hull, and Luc Robitaille all in the same week, will most likely never be topped again in this salary cap era.
-
Modano will definitely get his chances in shootouts. In fact, I'd rather have him shooting than Zetterberg. Don't get me wrong, Hank is a beast and he's one of my favorite players. But for some reason it seams like he always struggles when it comes to netting one in a shootout scenario.

That Igor Larionov back hand goal to the top shelf in the 3rd OT was sooo unforgettable! Also, chasing Patty Waaahhh to the bench in game 7 was one of the greatest hockey days of my entire life!
-
Also, that team had something that no other team in NHL history has ever had before or since: 4 500+ goal scorers on the same team (Steve Yzerman, Brendan Shanahan, Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille). And Steve was literally a warrior on one leg throughout the entire playoffs. Talk about an epic year.

This one is really tough for me. I was going between 1997 and 2002. And as much as I loved the memory of watching Stevie Y hoist the Cup for the first time, I had to go with 2002 by a slight edge. And for me, it's partly because the early 2000s were really, really good to me in life. My best friend died in '97, and then Vladdy's career gets ended in his prime. I just wasn't as happy a person back then. But 2002 I was thriving, loving life and having a great time. Literally everything was going right for me, so the Stanley Cup championship was definitely the icing on the cake for me. Plus that was such an epic squad. Arguably the most stacked we've ever been as a franchise. To this day I still miss that 2002 roster. That was the one year where almost every single hockey fan thought the Wings were gonna win the Cup. And they were all right. Also, that was the one team in a long time to actually win the Presidents Trophy and then go on to hoist the Cup. And that still hasn't been done since. That team was so good that it got the job done almost every night as soon as the first puck dropped game 1 of the regular season, all the way to the Stanley Cup finals.

I agree that NBC's love for Cindy is really annoying. But I'm not gonna boycot an exciting game between two good teams just because Crosby happens to be out on the ice. Plus, you can just do what I do; root on Washington and hope they stomp the Pens.
