2010 LGW Playoff Picks Game - Round 3
TheDetroitRedWings replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
SJS/CHI: 2-4 PHI/MTL: 3-4 -
Well, I hate Pittsburgh and Chicago. So originally I was going to root on the Sharks if we were to get eliminated by them. But after seeing the refs quite literally hand the Sharks the series, I will now root against them the rest of the way. So I suppose for me, best case scenario would be either Boston, Philly, or Vancouver to win the cup. Unfortunately that doesn't seam likely. But that's what I'll be rooting for the rest of the way.

WCSF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Sharks 4

Definitely gotta get the split in their building. I except that the Wings will take it to em tonight. Red Wings 3 (Franzen, Datsyuk, Bertuzzi) Sharks 2 -
Personally, I am willing to forgive and forget. Especially if he's still as good as he was when he last donned the winged wheel. But I do understand people still being ticked off for him leaving. I think his return will be a positive for our team for sure.

Hope the thread starter is right. And hopefully he continues to misspell the word guarantee. Cause the last few times it sure seamed to work in our favor! lol

Yeah this is something that really pisses me off too. Last year they get to face the "cardiac canes" that needed the final day of the regular season to even make the playoffs. And they got to face them in the eastern conference finals no less, which of course ended in a sweep. Now this year they get to face the #7 and #8 seeds so far? They will certainly beat the Habs. Then they will either face a Philly team that also needed the last game of the regular season to make the playoffs, or a Boston team that is still without their best point producer in Marc Savard. Yet another walk in the park for Pittsburgh. Luckiest team ever. And while I think there's no doubt the Pens will be in the finals again, I also think there's no doubt that whoever wins the west will be hoisting the cup this year. I sure hope it's the Red Wings. But if it's not, as much as I hate the Blackhawks, Canucks and Sharks, I will be hardcore cheering any of them on against Pittsburgh. For me as long as the Pens don't win again, I'll be okay.

I definitely expect the Wings to take the 1-0 lead in the series tonight. We owned the Sharks all season. I know the playoffs are very different. But still, we know we can beat this sharks team. Can't wait for the game! Red Wings 3 (Datsyuk, Franzen, Bertuzzi) Sharks 2 -

#7 Philadelphia knocks out #2 New Jersey
TheDetroitRedWings replied to stevkrause's topic in General
And they did it without their starting goalie. Boucher was actually very sub par the past 3 weeks leading up to the post season. But he's turned it on, and so have the rest of the flyers. This is definitely the biggest surprise for me so far during the playoffs. I thought for sure the devils would win in 7. Philly proved they're the better playoff team. I don't see them going to the finals or anything. But still, mad respect for not just beating, but destroying a very solid cup contender like new jersey. -
That was awesome.

Which NHLer would you like to punch in the face?

Crosby by far. I would go for broke if given the chance. That would be sooo satisfying! -

Zetterberg Passes Kozlov on Wings' all-time Playoff Scoring List
TheDetroitRedWings replied to zetterbergfan's topic in General
Hmm... With Lidstrom only being 19 points behind Stevie Y, I wonder if he ends up passing him eventually? I know Nick is getting up there in age. But if he plays 2-3 more seasons it seams likely that he will come real close to being number 1 on that list. Definitely will be a big accomplishment. Although if it happens, it will be in many more games than it took Yzerman, but still, quite the accomplishment. Oh and congrats to Hank. He'll surely be climbing that list for years to come! -
Those green guys are usually funny anyway, but last night was f-ing epically hilarious!!! The one green guy hanging upside down had me laughing so hard I almost teared up!

Did anyone see UFC 112??? What the hell was Silva doing??? I'm really starting to get annoyed by his antics in the ring. It was bad enough when he was mocking his opponent and literally dancing while he was fighting. But then he basically ran in circles for over a round. Can't wait for GSP to light this fool up.

Well, I made the top 10. Not too shabby. Next year it's no more mister nice guy. lol -edit: Just realized 10 was skipped for some reason. My ranking on the standings says 11. But Aussie accidently skipped 10. No worries though. It's all good.

I wonder what Barry Melrose has to say about this. Less than a year ago he said Stamkos isn't even NHL ready. And thats the reason he wasn't giving him top forward minutes. Now in the blink of an eye Stamkos is a 50 goal scorer on a sub par lightning team? Looks like once again Barry Melrose has no clue what he's talking about. Melrose getting fired was clearly the best thing that ever happened to Stamkos. I'm sure he has quite an impressive career ahead of him. It's always nice when a number 1 pick lives up to the hype.

That's correct. What a franchise!

Blackhawks officially eliminated as first round opponent
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Icesurfer's topic in General
Damn thats too bad. I was really hoping for Chicago in the 1st round for a variety of reasons. Mainly, their suspect goaltending, only a 1 hour time difference, and sending Hossa packing early. Also, we've already shown we can dominate them when we're healthy. -
Wow, couldn't help but tear up a little watching those clips. What a great player. What a great career. Clear cut HOFer. No matter what your favorite team is, all hockey fans will miss Mike Modano.

Correction. Bowman singular, not plural. His son has done nothing compared to Scotty. At least nothing to be feared. Now Scotty on the other hand... He could come back to coaching, even at his age, and still strike fear into the hearts of the opponents.
