You're analogy doesn't really work too well. The Red Wings have won several championships and have shown consistency over the years. There is great reason to envy a champion. And although Canada has a lot of hockey talent, they have ONE single gold medal in over 50 years. Wouldn't exactly call that a dominant hockey team. I can't speak for everyone else. But for me there is truly only one reason that I'm rooting against Canada. And his name is Sidney Crosby. If he wasn't on the team. I would be rooting for them right behind the USA. But I truly can't stand the kid. No way I want the media to slob his nob even harder than they already do.

From what I've seen, the Unites States has at least 4 medals right now. 1 gold 1 silver and 2 bronze. There could be more though. I've only watched some speed skating and the moguls so far.

True. But Kovalchuk is a dynamic superstar added to an already playoff ready devils team with arguably the best goalie in the world. If this results in a Stanley Cup championship, they could lose Kovy next offseason and they still wouldn't regret it at all. It's all about Lord Stanley. And from the looks of things, the devils are quite the contender before and especially now after this trade.

This trade is an absolute STEAL for the devils. Seriously unbelievable. I was thinking they would at least have to give up zajac or elias. Devils just scored big time with this trade. Imagine how deadly Kovalchuk will be with Parise. Wow.

Horrible trade for the Flames IMO. Jokinen and Prust are definitely more effective hockey players than Higgins and Kotalik. Olli will most definitely flourish in New York.

With horrendous defensemen like Lebda and Meech, there should be no reason to scratch Ericsson. I strongly disagree with Babcock's decision here.
