We do have a natural goal scorer. He's just been on the IR. His name is Johan Franzen. He's about as natural as it gets. And he proves time after time he can come back from injury and immediately produce. I just hope we make the top 8 in time for his return.

I was originally going to predict a Wings victory. But then it hit me that we almost never beat the Habs. We only see them once in a great while. But when we do play them, it seams we always lose. So I'm gonna say Habs win 3-2. Hope I'm wrong though.

He has one good game and now he's the man right? Pshh. Whatever man. Of course I'm rooting for Osgood to be successful. But no way he keeps it going. He'll go right back to his "let 3-4 goals in during the 3rd period" self. I would say trade Osgood, but what kind of value would he bring? I'm guessing not much. We're probably going to have to ride his contract out. Then we can finally move on and try to get an elite netminder.

This is horrible... We've now lost so much from last year's team. I just don't see how we're going to manage unless we make some sort of trade...

Sure sucks that we're already down 3-0. But none of the goals can be blamed on Howard. At least he's not letting in softies like Osgood. Wings defense is just playing like complete crap. IMO Rafalski is the most overpaid d-man in hockey.

Yeah but there are goalies that can steal games for their teams. Goalies that make it that much easier for the defense. Goalies that become brick walls late in the game. Unfortunately the Red Wings have zero goalies on their roster equipped to do these things. So until we change things between the pipes I don't see us bringing Stanley home where he belongs...

That was one game. And Osgood wasn't even in net. So far this season our biggest issue by far has been goaltending, which is exactly how the Avs stopped us last night...goaltending.

I completely agree. But what value would he bring? Probably not much. Not unless he is packaged with another player or two. But the fact remains that goaltending is the most important position in hockey. I mean look at Colorado. They finish the season almost dead last in the league. Then during the offseason they sign a very solid goalie in Anderson, now they look 10x better. Instead of the Wings trying to get Williams and Bertuzzi, they should have got a Craig Anderson. It's one thing to roll the dice on goaltending when your team is stacked. But after losing Hossa, Hudler, and Conklin, solidifying our goaltending should have been first priority. Especially after Osgood had the worst regular season of his career. And I'm sick of hearing, "regular season doesn't mean anything." Cause ya know what? It absolutely does. If you don't step up in the regular season, you're season is over in April. Not to mention the importance of seedings. Until we improve between the pipes get used to us losing...

Until we solidify our goaltending situation, we're gonna continue to lose. Osgood/Howard can't seem to get the job done with consistency. So until we make a trade or sign a good goalie, we'll be lucky to make the playoffs.

Yeah, actually it is. Considering he came into the league at 25. And he's been fairly durable (at least when it comes to long term injuries) and speed has never really been a part of Pavel's game. 2 years ago the guy was in his 20's for God's sake. It's not like he's in his late or even mid 30s yet. As for Bucci, I've noticed since the '06 season that he has taken quite a few jabs at the Wings. I say f*** Buccigross.
