Sorry man. But no way in hell Keith gets a higher ranking than Chara. Most knowledgeable hockey fans would argue Chara may even be higher than Nick. I'm not saying Chara is better than Nick. But he certainly gets second best. Your crush on Keith is pretty funny dude.

I'll admit, I am with you on that one. PS3 all the way.

He was making fun of you smart guy. Your "trade" scenario obviously reminds him of NHL09. At least that's the way I took it. Cause if you think Williams+Lebda/Lilja would get us Hejduk, you must be living in an NHL09 world. Is it nap time yet little tyke?

I hate to say it, but Homer looked like crap since he came off the IR last season. He looked even slower than usual (and we all know Homer was never a speed demon) and even in front of the net he looked just a little off. Maybe he was just rusty from the injury. I sure hope so. Because part of me is starting to think Homer might be hitting the wall. Whether it's from age or injury, Homer may not be top line material anymore...

Comparing a goaltender to a defenseman just doesn't work in my eyes. Goaltending is a whole different animal. Apples and oranges. Better yet, apples and pine cones.

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal
TheDetroitRedWings replied to hockey23's topic in General
Your post is a joke right?? It's not like this signing was a "Hossa" replacement. This was a depth signing to help out the 3rd and 4th lines. Not to mention it was for only 500k! How is this a bad deal? Eaves is young, he will be another project player (ala Cleary) he's a good PK'er, and we got him dirt cheap. Excellent signing by Holland. -
Yeah what a series that was!

Never liked his personality. But the man could play some good hockey. I know a lot of people will remember him as a Blackhawk. But I will always remember him as a Coyote. I remember the Roenick/Tkachuk line giving our team fits. We actually had quite a little rivalry going with the Yotes in the late 90s. I actually miss those hideous old Yotes jerseys. They were so ugly I liked them. Very unique. I wish J.R. the best. He's probably going to the best damn sports show or something. lol

Exactly. He keeps talking about Babcock. Well considering Maltby is 10th on the team in PK minutes, he's right, let's listen to Babcock. lol I guess some people just suffer from delusions of granger. Although I shouldn't say "people," considering shoreline is the only person on these forums that actually thinks Maltby is a good and effective PK'er still. I just have to repeat something again....10th on the team in PK time on ice! HAHAHA I love it! Wish I would have checked that stat beforehand. Shoreline = Delusional.

Wings sign Patrick Eaves to 1-year/$500k deal
TheDetroitRedWings replied to hockey23's topic in General
Getting Eaves for only 500k means now we can surely afford one more good forward to help us bring Stanley back to its rightful home. I'm still hoping for Griere. Zherdev would be perfect. But he's a tad pricey. Mike Griere is exactly what we need. And now we have the cap room to get him. Let's do it Kenny! -

Yeah he is. A perfect 2nd unit PK replacement for Maltby. -
He IS NOT always on the PK. Jesus dude. You wonder why I say "read my post" a lot. Either you can't read properly, or you choose to argue with a post you didn't fully look over. Either way it makes you look like a fool. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Hossa saw WAY MORE PK time than Maltby. Gee I wonder why? Could it have something to do with the fact that he isn't close to as good as he used to be at the one thing he could do effectively in the past? HAHAHA....wow....all I can say is wow....I NEVER said Matlby can't do it without Draper or Mac. I love how you come up with these random things off the top of your head. Again, DO YOU KNOW HOW TO READ???????? My God dude. I mean seriously, no joke, do you know how to read? I said Maltby USED TO BE A GOOD PK'ER. And now he is NOT. And since he brings NOTHING else to the table. I view him as worthless. Whereas a goon would at least make others pay for all the cheap dirty things done to our superstars. What does that have to do with Draper or Mac??? WTF? The only reason he was selected to team Canada(which I think only happened once) was because he was still a fairly good PK'er at that point. Notice how he hasn't been selected since and he never will. So I think you need a few more read my post, read my post, read my post. I've never seen anyone on this site argue points without reading the other person's counterpoints. It's pretty laughable...just like your delusions about worthless Maltby. I'm done arguing with someone that can't read.
-
Wow kid. Obviously you didn't read my post at all. I said the EXACT OPPOSITE. I said you must haven't seen the Red Wings play for the past 8 seasons. Not pre..some arbitrary year. Do you know how to read buddy? After all you said about Maltby my guess is 1999 was the last year you watched the Wings. And how did I not refute anything you said? I step by step refuted everything you said. Again, try READING. Maltby is lucky to be a 3 goal scorer each season. But his linemates who were also grinders(Draper, McCarty) we could rely on for many different things, whether it be Drapers speed, scoring and winning draws, or whether it be McCarty's clutch playoff scoring and his physical game and his fighting ability. Even back then the only thing Maltby could bring to the table was his ability to be an effective penalty killer. But guess what! HE IS NOT AN EFFECTIVE PK'ER ANYMORE! So the ONE thing he could do, he can't do anymore. And you yourself even said it's because he's old. Who cares what the reason is??? What ever the reason, he is completely worthless now. I never said that. In fact, if you had actually READ MY POST. You would have seen that I said back in the day I would cut Maltby slack because even though he couldn't score, he was an effective penalty killer. Again, the one thing he was good for, he can't do anymore. At least a goon would bring SOMETHING to the table each night. Wow, hilarious coming from the guy who DID NOT EVEN READ MY POST. I know for sure that you didn't read it. Considering my last sentence was something along the lines of "I don't think a goon is absolutely necessary, but if a guy like Maltby holds a spot, why shouldn't a goon take his spot? Talk about someone not being taken seriously? Sounds like you just described yourself perfectly. How about this time you read my post. That way you don't make yourself look foolish. How's that for refuting everything you said?? Sorry buddy but you're delusional about Maltby.

Ummm....have you watched the Red Wings much during the past 7-8 seasons??? Maltby hasn't had a big hit in YEARS. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Wow dude...it's official. Now I KNOW you haven't seen the Wings play in years. Try checking out Maltby's stats during the past decade. I think the sporting news put it best when they referred to him as "eerily unproductive for years." Maltby very rarely creates any sort of offense, whether it be setting them up or scoring them himself And just when I was starting to ponder whether I was right about you witnessing Red Wings hockey this decade....You actually try to use the PK as an argument point. Funny I was going to bring up the PK because back in the late 90s when I started noticing Maltby's lack of offensive skills, I would cut him some slack because he was a fantastic penalty killer. More than a decade later and Maltby doesn't see even close to the same PK minutes he used to. This past season the main PK unit was Datsyuk and Zetterberg, and also Hossa quite a bit. This is not 1998. Good question. I'm pretty sure even Kirk Maltby is shocked at your insanely over-flattering post. Huge difference between Draper and Maltby. Draper was always much more offensively talented. Hell, Draper even had a 26 goal season. Maltby has never been close to that. Not close. Draper could kill penalties, and he could score. Draper was fast too. And even to this day he contributes immensely at the faceoff circle. Yeah, a guy that couldn't even score 10 years ago is now older and slower. Awesome. I wonder if that has anything to do with his horrible drop off in being an effective penatly killer? Gee ya think? Hmmmm... Pot calling the kettle black eh? Nonsense would be an understatement when referring to your post. Delusional comes to mind. I'm not someone who thinks a goon is absolutely necessary. But come on, if worthless Maltby holds a roster spot, someone who can dish it out after taking it would be a refreshing sight to see for once.
-
Anyone who objects to a goon must first realize and ponder something.... Kirk Maltby has a roster spot on this team! Kirk Maltby's skills are comparable to a goon. Can't score worth a damn and can't play a lick of defense. But there is one major differenc; he doesn't fight and has no physical game whatsoever. Bringing in a goon would at least be an upgrade to Maltby. At least we would finally have some protection for our susperstars.

Yes, yes it is. Apparently you were not a fan of the Red Wings in the early 80s. Steve Yzerman single-handedly put this franchise on his back and took them out of the "dead wings" era. Lidstrom has also done a lot for us in his career. But come on dude. This isn't even close. Steve Yzerman is God. End of story.

I like this kid. I have a feeling he would be a really good fit for this team. But who knows whats up Kenny's sleave...

Sportsnet: Hudler awarded 2 year deal 5m total; Still KHL bound
TheDetroitRedWings replied to DatsyukownzU13's topic in General
Yes I will miss Hudler's goal scoring. But let's face it, he's mediocre defensively and has no physical game whatsoever. I would much rather keep guys that bring more to the table. A player that can score and also plays great defensively. Or a player that can score and can also throw his body around. Or a player that can do all three. The point is, Hudler is not a well rounded player. I would be devastated if we lost Datsyuk, or Zetterberg, or Franzen, but losing Hudler isn't even close. -
My God dude. I mean I think Osgood is mediocre at best. But I would take Osgood full time over Belfour getting any time with us. Belfour is done. He'll probably end up going to the KHL. Cause no way anyone in the NHL wants him.

Exactly.
