ECQF - Game 5 - Red Wings at Bruins - 3:00 PM EST

I'd say trade if anything. A buyout would be nice, but we may have to buyout Stephen Weiss and his even more ridiculous contract.

ECQF - Game 5 - Red Wings at Bruins - 3:00 PM EST

Really glad to see Ouellet is in for Kindl! Now if we could only call up Almquist and Sproul, and sit Lashoff and Quincey I'd be truly happy.

Poll: Who was the Wings regular season MVP

Nyquist. Hands down. If not for him, our epic playoff streak might have came to an end.

    Don't forget about worthless Quincey...

    Play em or rest em?

I don't want anyone rested. Not only can we still move up in the standings, but we also don't wanna lose the edge we've been playing with. Gotta stay sharp and prepared for the big dance. Sitting some of our top guys will only mess with what we've been doing lately. Not to mention Pav hasn't been back for very long, so he's definitely gonna need these next few games to help get him back to full speed. Especially with the intensity of playoff hockey around the corner. So hopefully Babs will do the smart thing and keep the lineup as is.

Maple Leafs Name Shanahan New Club President

Great... Now another one of my boy-hood idols is running a team in direct competition with the Wings (within the same division). Happy for Shanny and all, but for me this blows.

    Pens or Bruins

We've played both teams well this season. But there's no doubt that Boston is a deeper team than Pitt (especially on the defensive end). And they have better goaltending. So if I had to choose I'd go with the Penguins. But I truly believe we could beat either team if we're healthy and playing the way we've played lately.

    bashing skid the kid

That video didn't show me anything I didn't already know about the guy. 100% classless, and a disgrace to the integrity of the game.

What is everyones second favorite team?

I'm like most of the others here, it's all about the Red Wings. Been obsessed since I was 6 years old. Which coincidentally was the first year of our playoff streak (1990). There are some teams that I hate less than others. But it's hard to say that any team truly comes in 2nd for me. When Yzerman first got hired by the Bolts, I did sorta like them. But that came to a screeching halt this year now that we're in the same division. In all honesty, even though I hated them for years, the St. Louis Blues are a pretty fun team to watch. They have a good handful of players that I actually do like. Always been a Ryan Miller fan also. And obviously they don't share a division with us anymore...So yeah as weird as it sounds, if I absolutely had to name a 2nd favorite right now, it would be the Blues.

    4/2 GDT - Bruins 2 at Red Wings 3

Obviously it's hard to get your hopes up playing against the Bruins. But we've been playing better hockey lately, and we have a lot more to play for right now than Boston, who will be a number 1 seed regardless of what happens the rest of the season. I actually have a good feeling about the game. I think we'll get at least 1 point.

3/29 GDT - Red Wings 4 at Maple Leafs 2

Looks like the hockey Gods are smiling down upon us with the Leafs, Jackets, AND the Caps all losing when we desperately needed them to. No doubt about it, tonight is by far the biggest game of the season.

Around The League - Eastern Conference Playoff Race

Wings should get an easy win tomorrow with the Leafs not having their head coach for the game...cause apparently Riddick Bowe is a huge Leafs fan and is gonna find Carlyle and knock him out for losing tonight... http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24502962/riddick-bowe-says-hell-ko-randy-carlyle-if-leafs-lose-again

QMJHL player loses a finger blocking a shot

Well yeah the entire glove isn't heavy duty, but the front of the glove certainly is. And the angle he was standing looked like the front of the glove was area exposed. It must have made impact on the side of the glove.

QMJHL player loses a finger blocking a shot

Found one: http://thehockeyhouse.net/junior/qmjhl-forward-loses-finger/ Evidently just the tip of his finger was damaged (not the entire finger), and apparently all he needed was a few stitches to fix it up. Still though, strange to see an injury like this considering how heavy duty hockey gloves are.

QMJHL player loses a finger blocking a shot

Honestly, I'm not sure how he possibly could have lost his finger when he had both his gloves on during the slap shot. Would be interested to read an updated article on the incident.

3/16 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4

Hard to be very optimistic with all our injuries, going up against one of the best teams in the league. But ya never know, there's always a chance. If our overall D can hold up we should at least make it a competitive game. If not, it will likely be a blowout victory for the blackhawks.

    Finally-TooToo called up

Not that it'll matter much with Babcock. Surely he will be played 6-7 min tops. But it is nice to see him get called up.

    3/14 GDT : Edmonton Oilers 1 at Red Wings 2 (F/SO)

Huge 2pts! Hopefully we can keep it going! Gonna be a tough test on Sunday against the Blackhawks. I'd have more confidence if Brenden Smith didn't suck so bad. And that goes for Quincey and Lashoff as well.

That was awesome (the fight itself and the sportsmanship after).

    Where has NHL scoring gone?

Was never a big fan of "projections" and more often than not, projections end up being inaccurate.

    Where has NHL scoring gone?

How is Getzlaf projected to get more points than Phil Kessel who currently has 2 more points than Getzlaf does?

3/11 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blue Jackets 4

Such a huge game tonight. I def don't think it's an absolute must win. But getting 2 points tonight over the team that we're tied with points-wise would be pretty huge. Love Jimmy, but I'm almost relieved to hear that Mrazek is starting. Seems like we always play better when the backup is in.

    Detroit D performance

Did you not read any of the replies to your question? Our entire point was that we weren't judging him SOLEY on his offense. We were judging him on both ends of the ice. And since he isn't earning his paycheck on the defensive end, the only thing left to judge is his offense (or lack-thereof). Especially since he's been an offensive d-man in the past (while wearing a Kings and Avs jersey). And no one "focused" on him being overpayed. The entire discussion before you chimed in was in regards to him being vastly overpayed. So obviously that's going to be apart of the overall discussion. Most of the outrage here is SOLEY due to what he brings to the table on a nightly basis and how much he gets paid per season. If he was getting paid 1.5M per season I'm fairly certain most people wouldn't complain too much about his obvious short-comings on both ends of the ice.
