Eric Nystrom Zenon Konopka Brad Winchester Brian McGrattan Steve MacIntyre Tanner Glass Eric Boulton Any of the above please. Especially Tanner Glass.

Average fighter? He might be the toughest guy in the NHL, and he is 6'6" 265. Im waiting for the day him and Boogaard square off.
-
This is just horrible, it cant be that hard to put something together worth watching.
-
Nobody in their right mind would pick McIlrath over Granlund, but after all this is LGW.
-
Poor trade by Atlanta, Chicago just picked up a solid 3rd line center, a real good prospect, and 2 decent draft picks for Byfuglien and 2 pieces of trash.
-
I would not be upset if we picked Tinordi or McIlrath, they are both huge guys that play a similar game and have potential as second pairing guys. I am just pulling for us to pick a skilled forward in the first round. Howden is not exactly a really skilled player, but from the NHLs scouting report it said he plays like Todd Bertuzzi with speed, and out of this years draft he is the best suited to play in the NHL. My other 3 guys are highly skilled forwards with lots of potential.

Any of Nick Bjugstad, Teemu Pulkkinen, Evgeny Kuznetsov, or Quinton Howden would make me very happy with our 21st pick.

I read this earlier, and if it is what we need to do to get one of the high end forward prospects Nill is talking about im all for it. This years draft is said to be weak, but that was said about last years too. Now look at all the names emerging out of the 2009 draft, not just first rounders but later ones as well. The draft class of 2009 is looking to be pretty solid, and I feel comfortable saying this years draft is pretty underrated as well. Either way, if we get another top line prospect out of this draft we will have a few very solid offensive prospects emerging.
-
Alright, this is looking pretty good. The off season just got a lot more exciting, time to wait and see who we pick up.
-
I havent really been keeping track, but when we get our RFA's signed up and everything sorted out what will our roster look like and how much cap space will we have to throw at someone?
-
Damn, this is good. We are one of the teams that will benefit most from this. Now we can afford a FA that will actually be able to make an impact on the team. Im feeling pretty good about next season, anyone else?

Some aren't projecting McIlrath to go in the first round at all. Also, the Brad Stuart comparison is poor. Stuart was putting up a PPG in the WHL when he was drafted. McIlrath just put up 24 points in 65 games. Stuart was developed as an offensive guy, and McIlrath will not be which makes the situation even worse. That is not even close, McIlrath will be another bottom pair guy that is very solid defensively, very little offensive upside, and can drop the gloves. Much like Lilja was like before his concussion but maybe a little more physical. Those are the kind of guys you throw your 2nd-3rd+ rounders at. I would take the kid in the second round, but at the 21st pick there will be guys available that can make a bigger impact on the organization.
-
I dont get the McIlrath love here. The kid hardly has any offensive upside and if it wasnt for his fighting and toughness he would just be another no name guy going late in the draft. If we want another Lilja we can get one through free agency and not waste our first rounder on one. Anyways, the Wings always draft for skill, not size or toughness. Getting McIlrath would be a long shot especially for the Wings organization. Bjugstad looks like the high skilled center that could really make an impact on this team, but who knows who we will pick. Almost every mock draft has us going for someone different, there is no medium. This draft should be very interesting nonetheless.

The Red Wings hate on HF Boards is absurd, that could be part of it.

Whats so bad about bringing in a goal scorer that can work the PK or PP? He is the Stars Yzerman, if we picked him up it would be awesome. Your argument is we already have someone that can play his role. Would you be against us bringing in Ryan Kesler, I mean we already have a first line center that plays a strong 2 way game.
-
Come on, the guy can still skate pretty well. He had 30 points in 59 games last year playing on the second and 3rd lines. If you watch him play he is still very strong in his own end. If we could get him for cheap there isn't much to not like.
-
Modano has already retired from Dallas. I guess the Wings would be good candidates for Mike to play for. The guy was born and raised in Michigan, he is a good guy. My grandpa coached him as a kid so I have always had a soft spot for Mr. Modano (if you couldn't tell already), and I would absolutely love to see him here.

Just as Hudler was 2 years ago, right? Oh wait...

The title, very misleading.

NHL Awards Show sounds like it is going to be horrible

The NHL awards are so cheesy every year, you guys should know this by now. -
All he needs is a Datsyukian mentor
-
Like I have already said, I am expecting Ilari to make the big club. Pretty strong 2 way game and he could be that playmaker Bert needs to have with him on the 3rd line. cough*Johan Franzen*cough

The 2 Filppulas are almost the exact same height and weight and they look exactly the same. They have a very similar playing style (shocker). I expect Big Filp to do well, he tore up the SM Liiga last year and was the playoff MVP. He could be our next 3rd line scorer, and I do expect him to make the Wings during the pre season. He is also said to be very strong on the puck for the league he plays in, but we all know how little that means when it comes to converting to North American hockey.

I have never liked Boll. He has always come across as a total ******. The guy tried getting in to it with Datsyuk for gods sake. May never went after the other teams stars. Downey never went after the other teams stars. Boll is just one of those guys I want to get knocked right out every time he drops the gloves.
