Didn't Kopecky get Madden like that in Chicago, too? I swear I remember a highlight of that on NHL Network.

This thread is like the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you, Red Wings. I suppose that someone will want to add an asterisk* to this stat, to somehow or another, make it less of an acomplishment.

I think it's because of the changes in the game. 10 years ago was the height of low scoring huge padded goalie days. If you got to overtime the refs put the whistles away and it more resembled Australian Rules than hockey. If you got the puck in the offensive zone, you quickly had a passenger or two, to carry, as you tried to get a shot on net. The shot counts were lower back then, especially high quality shots. Not sure which era I like more, but I do have to admit that I enjoy the end to end rushes of today. I just wish that they could find a way to keep the play that way, without the refs having to pull their whistles out of their pockets to keep players honest, (or as was seen at the end of the 3rd in game 7 between Boston and Washington, to appease the crowd).

Yes. Entirely too long. Glad I got the boat in the water early this year. It has given me something to do to stay away from here, this last week. I can only imagine what it will be like when we don't make the playoffs.

Amen to that. Babcock said it's not a charlie horse, but a lower body injury. He seemed concerned, therefore, I am concerned. He seems to brush off bumps and bruises with a " he'll be playing next game", attitude. With Helm it was, "we'll take a better look at it and see". Doesn't sound promising.

Definitely agree with this. We need Big Rig out there so we can all blame him for our crappy play. It's just not fair to put that all on Janik.... And Kronner and Stewie really do need a break. They've been logging a lot of tough minutes since Nick has been out.

Don't all concussions have to be disclosed to the league per their new concussion treatment standards? I don't know how they could hide one because the league, (or NHLPA, not sure), gets to review all testing results.

If that hard-on lasts for more than 4 hours, I believe they reccomend seeking professional treatment. I'm sure your hangover will last longer, though. Make sure to stop by in a few more years to pat yourself on the back some more. We alway have a shortage of that here.

Other teams have learned how our "puck possesion" system works and how to shut us down. Many of those teams have adopted that style of play themselves. We are also very reluctant to play chip and chase when they stand 5 players at the blueline and stand us up as we try, endlessly, to skate it in. Especially our first two lines. You would think that a line with Bert, Franzen, and Datsyuk, would be able to cycle the puck all day long along the boards. That is not the case. Also, we don't have Downey and Lilja out on the ice.

Didn't realize that he married Pronger's wife. In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure that Brad and his wife don't want to disrupt her daughters relationship with her father. Even though they could afford to fly her back and forth to California every weekend to see him. Another factor is that her family is from the San Jose area, so she has family members near her to help keep her own sense of family. I applaud both of them for doing what is right for her/their children. In today's world, it's good to see parents putting their children's interests before their own. I have known plenty of people who have uprooted their families and moved for a job that lasted one year, when it would have probably been easier to just take an apartment for the year, and leave their family where they were and travel home on a weekend every few months. I kind of equate Stewie's time here to that of a soldier on his 4th tour of duty, and he is finally being released and able to go home for good. Whatever his decision is, I'm sure he'll do it with his families best interest in mind, and that doesn't look good for The Wings.

In other news, it's still February. Aren't we used to this by now?

Don't know if you've noticed this, but they are 18-3-4 in their last 25 games, better than any other team in the league in the last 25. Any GM would be a fool to blow up a team that is playing that hot. Especially one that has gone on runs like that in the past, to make the playoffs. Besides, a trade would be Selanne's decission, not Murray's. I wouldn't hold your breath on Teemu becoming a Wing.

So, your socio-economic class has everything to do with weather you are a nice person??? Do you have any studies to back that up, or is this just your "professional" assessment. Or are you really just making a blanketed racial statement about players of other sports and their actions? Money has absolutely nothing to do with how a person acts. If it did, country clubs and private schools would be filled with angels, and we all know that that's not the truth. There are bad people, as well as good people, in every economic group, race, religion, and every other categorizing factor out there.

We have to win without Datsyuk in the lineup. That's what good teams do. That just means a few key players will have to step up their game and play like they give a damn. I hope that we don't have to witness The Keystone Cops routine, that was our 2nd period against Chicago. Way too many turnovers. Way too many dumb passes. Keep it simple. Win #24 for Probie. And listen to all the whining from Wah-ncouver about how they would have won, but..... 8-1 Wings. :siren: Benching 7ouongo in the 1st period, and sadly, ruining Jimmy's great game in the last minute of play.
