1/8 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 2 (OT)

Fil's stick got him. Hope we don't get the penalty. -
The 7 words you can never say, in The NHL.

Thanks. No soup for me, again.

Matthew Shepard says, Hi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Shepard I would assume that between The NHL and The Florida Panthers, that like most other corporations, one or both of them, have a code of conduct for all of their employees to follow that includes a non-harassment clause based on race, religion, color, creed, or sexual orientation. I am sure this will be brought forward while deciding what kind of punishment to hand out. By not doing anything about the Simmonds-Avery incident, they leave themselves plenty of room to shoot themselves in the foot with this one.

If you're going to cross-check a guy in the head, you'd better damn well expect the guy to be a little angry about it and not be surprised when he punches you in the face. Bad on Kopy for punching a guy with his gloves on. Bad on Del Zotto for not expecting one in the face. And I wouldn't be surprised if Rupp got a game or two for his actions, however admirable they may be. You can't grab a guy that the linesman is holding onto a start beating him senseless. Not even if it's Kopecky.

Bruce Boudreau: Resident Ornithologist.

I hope this doesn't catch on in Winnipeg. -
I just finished watching the replay of the Finland vs. USA game. The one thing I noticed most, is how bad the small, speedy forwards from Finland made the big strapping defenseman fom the US look. Their forecheck was furious and had The US d-men tripping over themselves trying to get to the puck and get it out of the zone. Of course, this may change in a few years, when they've grown into their bodies, but they really got exposed pretty badly in this game.

So, to add another variable to this, how many of these fights took place when the game was already decided? For example, a blowout, or down by 3 late in the 3rd. Basically, frustration fights. Fights that have no bearing on the game whatsoever. I'm thinking that throwing those out, changes the numbers quite a bit.

Much of the last 2 years has been paying lip service to the 2 years previous, when he was a dominate force in the playoffs. But not to worry, he has 9 years left on his contract to get back on track.

Chris Pronger to miss remainder of 11/12 season & playoffs
BigWillieStyle replied to DatsyukianDekes's topic in General
Let's see. Dr's from Pittsburgh, telling Pronger that he should sit out for the rest of the season including playoffs. Hmm...... I can only think that this can't be good for Pronger at all. Very rarely can a doctor put a timetable on concussion symptoms. Something here is telling me that an MRI or CAT Scan showed some damage that could be life threatening, or at the very least any further injury could cause serious life altering effects. I can't see them putting him on the shelf for 5 to 6 months, without something being seriously wrong. It's just not going to seem right without Pronger in the game anymore. My best to him on a recovery and a fruitful life away from hockey. -
We'll have to get them back in the shootout.
-
Really???? Well that sucks!!
-
Well,....at least noone got hurt blocking that one.

Their 3rd line has been outplaying ours all night. I have to say, when Tutu stops being a punk, and decides to play hockey, he's pretty effective. Ok, no more nice words about that punk. Let's go play a solid 3rd, and bring home 2 points.

I have enough disfunctional people in my life already. If there an acceptable way to decline this gift?

Teeder Kennedy. -
Let's keep up the winning ways, boys. It will be interesting to see how many "Suter or Weber" threads this will start. LGW.

He's got a pocket full of rubbers, and his homeboys do too.

I have two of these that I purchased about 10 years ago. They were replicas of ones worn during the city's 250th anniversary in 1951. They look pretty much identical to the sweaters of the era. At least as close as I could find. I had the numbers rearranged to represent Sid and "Uke". I wear them occasionally to a game. I get a lot of questions about where I got them, when I wear them. So much so, that I looked into starting a business of making vintage hockey sweaters. The licensing issues seemed like endless madness, and decided it wasn't that important after all. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Detroit-Red-Wings-1950-51-Hockey-Sweater-Stall-Dean-2XL-/330651910426?pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item4cfc63c11a

shea weber's trick shot from the stands

He could've probably got that one past Dan Ellis. -
Man, is Conner ever going to be tired being on both the 3rd and 4th lines. I did have to ask about Prust, as I see his name added to many of your posts. I see everyone on NHL Overtime, and OTF talking about him every night that The Rangers play. I think he's a great 4th liner that probably every team would want on their team. So, I guess my question is, why would Sather let him go any where? And do you really think that Kenny would give up anything close to the offers that Sather could get in a trade for Prust, or do you think that Kenny would throw the kind of money that, say, a Sather type GM would offer as a free agent. I just don't see it happening. And don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a whole line of Brandon Prust's here. About Conner, I think he's shown that he wants to stay here, and is showing that he can fill the role of a bottom six player as well as anyone down there, save for Helm, maybe Abby. What he lacks in size, he makes up in speed. As stated by a few, a line of Conner,Helm, Mursak could be downright dangerous. Especially when matched up with a line full of big slow bodies. A few more games like he's been playing, and Emmerton is on the chopping block IMO.
-
He sure is making a valid argument as to why we should keep him up with the big team. Mursak better come back really hungry.
-
I thought he would be out the door some time this season. He's taken them as far as he can, it's time to bring in a coach that can get them to the finals. Or at least the final four, for our sake. Kind of like another certain Murray that had to be fired so that we could bring in some guy named Bowman that knew how to make a good team better. I don't know how it would work with the close distance between LA and Anaheim, but Carlyle is the kind of coach that can get The Kings back together, and make a run, either this year or next.
