I just barfed at the thought of that circus getting yet another #1 pick, only to destroy all of that kids hopes and dreams. On your other question, Yes, it will take more than Hughes to get McDavid. McD is a known commodity, and has enough time behind him that teams know for certain, that they'll be getting a top 1C out of the deal. Hughes, on the other hand, is a young, skinny, kid, who has tremendous upside, and who will probably turn out to be a franchise player, but, he's been injured 4 times this season, playing against players that are not in The NHL. I don't see him having the same results as McD did in his rookie year. Maybe a few off seasons in the gym with Barry Bonds, and he'll be able to compete at the same level as McD, I just don't see it happening immediately. Side thought. The name Jack, does sound infinitely tougher than Conner, so he has that going for him. If I'm playing Oilers GM, and let's face it, anyone could do a better job than what they've had, and that deal comes up to me, I'm asking for Hughes AND a top 6 forward under 23, or, your #1 prospect, not currently on your NHL roster. The way I see it, is that I'm the one that's taking the big risk by making that trade. Just my .02

I wonder if Lil Bert and French Franzen have a side bet on who hits 25 goals first. They've both been playing like they've got their own money on the table. Would be great to see them both put up 25, at this point in the year.

Burke did it in 99 with Vancouver, to get the Sedin's. Draft order was Tampa, Atlanta, Vancouver, Chicago,... Traded McCabe and 2000 1st round to Chicago for #4, a few days before draft. Convinced Tampa on draft day to trade their #1 pick, for the #4, and two 3rd round picks. Then traded the #1 to Atlanta, on the stipulation that they pick Patrik Stefan. Leaving Burke holding #2 and #3 for The Twins. Burke becomes a legend for pulling off the greatest trade since Peter Minuit fleeced The Lenape Tribe of Manhattan, for $24.

I just realized that mine is more than half empty, and I plan on getting as sloppy as the passing of our power play. Also, I've been watching the Sharks vs. Blues game, and Nyquist has done everything he can to score during this game, and has still come up empty. Poor guy. I hope they re-sign him.

The last time I saw him, was at that introduction of the 100 greatest, and the only thing he looked like he'd been scouting, was donuts. I do remember reading about him having knee replacement, which I've personally found, makes one seek out donuts for companionship.

No idea what he's up to. Last I saw him was playing for The Bruins Alumni team, a few years ago. Don't know about him being secret, he just wasn't Bobby Orr, or Montreal's big 3. Though I'd put him as good as any of those 3, and right behind Denis Potvin, in my list of greatest defensemen of the 70's-80's.

85-86 was the greatest season in 20 years for The Wings. Harry Neale lost the team in the first month, and it took 2 more to fire him. Kocur was already up and he and Randy Ladouceur we're fighting every game. Brad Park talked Jimmy D into bringing up more meat from Adirondack. Probert came up for good. Ron Duguay was a healthy scratch because Park called him a heartless *****. Those were the days. 1986 was the first time The Wings sold out more than 2 games in a row, since their last year in The Big Red Barn. It was really the beginning of the good times to come. Not to mention I was just a youngin' at 31 yers old. Damn I miss those days.

Nothing wrong with that at all. He's playing a lot like Green did, back when he was a Lidstrom Trophy candidate. Only stronger defensively. It's like his nuts finally dropped while he was down in GR. Maybe he learned a thing or two from McIlwrath.

In training camp, and in preseason, I thought that Hronek was going to need a few years, because after taking a good hit, he became scared to engage in any physical battles. Since they've brought him back up, it seems like he's gotten over that big hump that looked like it was going to keep him in The AHL for a long time. I like that he's aggressively going after the puck, and learning to use his body to gain position. Saying that, he still needs a lot of work in the defensive end of the ice.
