Babcock is, without a doubt, trying to be an obstacle in his career. Actually, I think that if Commie looked good enough to play, he would be playing some. We don't get to see what goes on in practice, so I'll have to think that Babcock doesn't see him as any more help, than the six that we dress. It also doesn't help that we're trying to bank some points. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Kronwall and Stuart may be hitting a lot less now
BigWillieStyle replied to jollymania's topic in General
I don't think this will effect Stuart in any way, as he usually goes ass first and lays a pretty mean Johnny Bucyk on most of his targets. As for Kronwall, he had better be wearing weights on his skates to keep his damn feet on the ground. He knows that the league is watching this now. He has no excuse now. He needs to aim at the crest on the front of the sweater to make sure that he's not head hunting. I'm sort of baffled at where the "exploding upward" hit came from. What ever happened to the days when Stevens, or Robinson, or Potvin, or Horton, or Marotte, would just run your ass over, and keep skating? And what was so wrong with those hits, that they had to change the style of hitting to more resemble a perfectly executed tackle in football? -
Did we do better than 30% on faceoffs tonight? Sure didn't seem like it. Couldn't win one when we needed one. Let's hope this is their throwaway game. Let's get 'em in St. Louis.

Not winning any puck battles. Not retrieving any pucks. Equals not winning.

Clearly, sucking again.

Always liked Mike Grier. Of course, we'll always remember him for his hard hitting checks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDQ-ZvI_FXY&feature=youtube_gdata_player

11/25 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Bruins 2 (SO)
BigWillieStyle replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I'm thankful for Jimmy coming to play today. And for Toddler winning the mad skills contest. Pretty good game for a lazy Friday afternoon. Now time for a turkey nap. -
Scoring will increase tenfold now that Crosby's back.

Randy Carlyle pulling out all the stops to try to change the momentum in the game.

Paul Woods uses the same dialect at times. I heard him on a few occasions today, and other times, soften the "a" into what sounded like an "e". Don't know if it's instinctual, or easier, to say Kronwell instead of Kronwall. Maybe it is the familiarity of Oliver Cromwell's name, that makes this happen. Maybe it's just difficult to do play-by-play and/or color for such a fast moving game. Maybe they should just start calling him Pookie, or something cute like that and end the confusion.

Gotta love the Let's Go Red Wings chant. Way to represent, fans.

Welcome to the score sheet, Mr. Smith.

Your right. He's not the same player that he was 8 seasons ago. Neither is Lidstrom. Should we start a Lidstrom Sucks thread because he doesn't pull 30 minutes a night without a single mistake anymore. Hell, Yzerman, Shanahan, Chelios, and Fedorov aren't the same players as they were, 8 years ago.

Who would you pick to have back on this team?

How could you leave this guy off the list. http://www.saljbarry.com/hockey/autographs/cards/1991-1992/score_traded/crowder.jpg -
He seemed like a much better skater before they made him change to single bladed skates.
-
But he's 5'7" in heels.

It's football season in Texas. Nothing else exists. Check back in February, though, I feel their days of constant sellouts are over for now. At least until they get a serious ownership group.

Having "grown up", (I use that term loosely), at The Olympia, I'm still not used to The Joe. If anyone ever remembers going to Vipers games at The Palace, you will remember how bad that arena was for hockey. If you get up above the second set of boxes, bring your binoculars. That is what all the new multi-use arenas are like. I've been to just about every barn in the NHL, and very few can compete with the feeling of being close to the game like The Joe. I know that Mr. I wants to build a new arena, but I know he doesn't want to pay for it all himself. It's going to come down to the city financing a good deal of it. Something they don't have the funds for right now. I almost think that it would be cheaper, and easier to do small renovations like expanding the concourse, and adding more bathrooms and vending booths, which I really don't think would be too costly of renovations, when you look at what the big picture. I really believe that Mr. I's desire to build a new arena now has more to do with him wanting to see his finished product, which will be a part of his legacy before his days are up. If you've seen him lately, he's not getting g any younger. I hope if he does find a way to build new, that they at least try to draw inspiration from the past. Though it's not 100% perfect for todays discerning fans, Shultze's(?) Design, to me, is a good step in the right diirection.

Glad to see these again. to you, Cusimano_Brothers.

Congratulations to Lil' Nik. Of course I still want to believe that he wears the 'A' as the designated Annihilator.

Tell the Illitch Family to Drop "Presented by Amway"
BigWillieStyle replied to WingedWheeler1319's topic in General
Yes, they should eliminate all corporate sponsorships, because each and every fan will have an issue with one corporation or another, thus making all fans disinterested in supporting the team because they entered into a business agreement in which, you, the fan, don't agree with. Your beloved team then has a hard time making the salary cap floor due to poor ticket sales as well as other merchandise sales, and has no choice, but to sell the team to a well funded, highly corporate sponsored team in Nunavut, where Gary Bettman decides is a great place to move Jim Basille's new team, The Nunavut Red Wings. Or we could just say, oh well, 3 years isn't that long of a time period, and hopefully by then they will have decided that business ties with Amway, weren't the greatest thing after all, and seek out a new more fan approved sponsor. Perhaps Pampers™ is interested. A little off topic, but did you notice that Mr. I's other team, that he broke the bank on this year, advanced to the next round of the playoffs, thereby tying up Redbird 3 and making him have to charter another plane for his other team? Maybe some corporate sponsor money isn't such a bad thing after all. -
Entering year 31 as a STH. I guess, 30 if you count the year that didn't happen. And then the one year where there were 2 home openers in the same calendar year. Hope these bums can finally win a few games this season. If not, at least maybe I'll win a K-car.

Whose name suddenly became KronWall. Yet his younger brother Steffan ( or Staffan) remained a Kronvall for a few more years until magically his name changed to KronWall. I'm assuming that this is a translation issue from Swedish to English, but wonder if that could be problematic with a passport and work visa. Can anyone out there enlighten me a little more as it keeps me up at night wondering. Well,.. that and vodka.

Sure is a lot of Finger waiving going on here.
