The NHL is looking for some new referees. It would seem as though you would fit their current profile of refs that they are using these days.

You need to go back and look at others lists, if you're dismissing HIM because he was known as a cheap shot artist. I see several others on peoples fantasy lists that have pretty long rap sheets. The low that you speak of was a boarding penalty? Didn't Stuart take a penalty for that, 30 seconds into the game the other night? Sure the result was different, but the penalty was the same. I guess we should all pile on Gordie and Lindsay for being cheap shot artists too. The league even had to add 2 rules to deal with our heroes flagrant elbows and knees to opposing players. I know I didn't pick a popular choice here, but to dismiss his playing abilty at clutch times, because of one shot to a Red Wing is just missing the whole idea of this thread. Also, I didn't realize that Lemieux was on NHL '11, but then again the last time I played a video game, Pong™ was new on the market.

You're letting emotion get in the way of a fantasy team. If he were on the team, he wouldn't have broken Draper's face. I'm altering history here. There's a reason that this guy was public enemy #1. Because he could perform.

He chose Dallas, because he was told he would be on the big club there. Kenny had the same plans for Fabian as he did with Leino. One year in GR to get used to the NA style of play. Fabian took the choice that got him to the NHL quicker. Looks like that worked out real well for him. Sure, he'd be a good project, but we can't afford to put a claim on on him right now. Plus, I've heard he's lazy, and he sucks.

Therein lies a whole new aspect of the headshot rule, " the sales pitch ". If they are going to boot a guy for a hit, they should, at least have to have a good neurological exam before they are allowed to put the receiver of the hit back on the ice. The last thing I want to see is a player get a 5 and a game, and then watch the guy he hit knock in 2 goals on the ensuing PP.

It looks clean to me, but I have to admit that I'm starting to get sick of seeing another player laid out every night in the highlights. Don't know if Comeau is alright or what happened to him after the hit, but 2 weeks into the season and there are already over a dozen concussions in the league. I think Ryan Miller was right when he said we need to change the culture. Totally agree with this. ^^^

It's Fall in Michigan. What do you expect? It's football time. Don't worry, it's done by early January. They start talking hockey in April, when it really matters. I do have to agree that hockey coverage in Detroit is lacking. Aside from Mickey's chats with Drew and Mike and Inside Hockeytown with Pat Caputo and Ken Kal, hockey barely exists in Detroit media. Maybe people are just too damn spoiled by The Wings success to actually care. Case in point, overheard at opening night by a man around 45 dressed in a Federov sweater, " Why isn't Shanahan playing tonight?" I had to shake my head. <facepalm>

I think if Fil stays healthy 65 points would be a fair number to shoot for. The last 2 years have kind of held his development back. In 08-09 bringing in Hossa, and Babcock's decision to split up Pav and Z left Fil stuck on the 3rd line. That year when he was moved up to the 2nd line and played with Hossa and Leino, Fil played his ass off. Last year just as he was starting to find his groove, he broke his wrist. It took until the playoffs for him to really get back up to speed. In my opinion. This year, save for any injuries, I feel that he will have his breakout year. Kenny and Babs have repeatedly said that they expect him to raise his game to the next level. The thought of a possible trade will be in the back of his head all year. Especially if he falls into a slump. Besides, someone will be getting assists when Franzen scores 50 goals.

Maybe take down all of those stupid banners that hang up there. Replace them with Call Sam, Dr. Ramahni, and Belle Tire banners.

So that means he's going to have to jump in the scrum to protect Perry? I wonder if he can use the conscientious objector card?
