Salei Comments on History With Modano and New Season
BigWillieStyle replied to VM1138's topic in General
I wonder if that could be an empty locker in memory of that recently deceased former #24. Probably not, but it wouldn't surprise me either. -
I don't fully understand this whole deal at all. It seems to me like Lamirello put that first contract, in all of it preposterousness, up on a tee for the league to take a swing at. I really don't understand why he would turn in a contract like that for review, unless there was motive behind it. Knowing that he was one of the authors of the CBA's circumvention wording, you would think that he fully understood the ramifications of such a contract. The only thing that I can think of, is that he took one for the league, so as to open up the contract with the NHLPA and put a more concrete definition to the vagueness of the wording around these front loaded long term contracts that teams are using to fit superstars under their salary caps. It seems as if Bettman should be rewarding Lou, instead of punishing him. I have a feeling that upon another appeal, that the picks will be returned, and the fine will be increased a few million. Or reduced. Not really sure on that one. I'm still in shock that someone is going to get paid $100,000,000 to play hockey for a living.

Agreed, The playoff mullet trumps the Crostache in terms of douchebaggery. Just give the media the chance to make it a rivalry. If Seguin plays this year, there will be a game by game analysis between the 2. It's all part of the NHL's new youth movement thing. The one that says if you're over 26, you're old and slow.

Troy Crowder in Detroit.

As long as it helps him put up 50 shutouts this season... I'm cool with it. Though I will say, I still like the wicked graphics on Osgood's bucket.
-
A good handful stay at The Townsend in Birmingham. I' ve also heard of others staying at Ceasar's in Windsor.
-
Yeah. 'Cause Brain Campbell makes $7.1 million. I'm sure Doughty can't do a spin-o-rama quite as well as Campbell. He must be worth far less than him. At least to the Ice Capades.
-
I am fully expecting Jimmy Howard to lead The Wings in fighting majors this season...... ... And that's a pretty sad thought.
-
Must have him confused with that LiNdstrom guy.

He was on the morning show with Mike Stone and the others today. At times he seemed to do really well, at others, I don't think I heard him for 30 minutes. The one point they were talking about was the Tigers dugout incident between Gallaraga and Laird and they kept asking him if that kind of stuff ever happened on The Wings or in hockey in general. He mentioned the Probert-Primeau incident but didn't really spill much about any other incidents. They kept trying to get him to spill, but he either kept tight lipped about it, or The Wings really don't have much dirt to be aired on that subject. For some reason, I think DMac was being gentlemanly about it.

Crosby doesn't suck but he's a whiney little bitch, however.

I really didn't get the comparison at all between the 2 videos, but I enjoyed seeing DMac and Joey out there taking care of business instead of sending a message with our powerplay. Oops, probably shouldn't have gone there. Sorry. -
To me, Abby-Helm-Eaves, has that grind line kind of feel to it. If only Abby could throw them like DMac. The other 2 compare quite well to Draper and Maltby, with Eaves having that offensive upside of someone who scored 50 in Juniors. As for Miller, I see him as redundant. Especially with Eaves here. I don't see Miller being any better than he was last year, where I see room for Eaves to improve his game. And keep in mind, he's a coaches kid and plays like one. Always in position and always ready to do what the coach asks of him. I see Miller, somehow playing in Tampa again next year. Edited due to big thumbs on a mobile device.

Could split the difference, and make it #3. I'm pretty sure that that # will be available.

NHL testing new rules and rink modifications
BigWillieStyle replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
How could they leave out the "new and improved" glow puck. And what's next, tap your sticks 3 times for a faceoff? How about removing some rules instead of adding them. Haven't they already killed the game enough during Bettman's reign? -
Kronwall sure looked like a forward in his attempt last year.
-
So that explains how Skille's salary got halved in Chicago as an RFA. Those bastards must have found a loophole.

I'd consider that one a learning experience. For the players as well as the fans. I remember how we all thought that The Cup was ours before this series. I have even seen t shirts that were printed a little too soon. Getting their asses handed to them in 4 games, really woke everyone up as to what it takes to win a Cup. I've really been enjoying watching this series. It's great to see how little of a circus handing out the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup used to be. Thanks Gary for that one. The first show was the 1975 series between the Flyers and Sabres. The last time Philly won. I wonder how they chose 35 years as a number? I guess that's 7 weeks of stuff to fill during the offseason. This Monday starts with 1995 at 8 pm EST. One year per day. Actually can't wait to see the rats in Florida from '96. Sure it didn't work out all that well in the end, but the ice littered with toy rats has to be one of hockeys funniest moments.

Holland talks about what he is looking for in free agency

Or Brodeur... Oh wait, that doesn't help your argument, does it. Nevermind. -
Who should we Keep? Release? Sign?
BigWillieStyle replied to Paul MacLean's Mustache's topic in General
We got a lot more out of him this year than I was expecting. If he'll sign for under 2mil I wouldn't be against it. Although it might have to come with a stipulation that he actually finishes a check every now and then to earn his pay. He'll always be first to a scrum, yet he'll let a guy off the hook instead of lining him up when they skate by. Maybe they should show him game film from 10 years ago and make him think he is still that player. -
"I'm way more valueable than Lebda, I can play forward too."

I guess you missed my point that we weren't even supposed to be playing for a Gold Medal, where Canada was the odds on favourite to win the Gold. Team Canada walked into the tourneyment thinking that they would take everyone to the clinic with there play. They just forgot to play with the heart that they needed to. By all rationale, the score should have been 8-2 Canada. But USA played with a nothing to lose attitude and even though they only took the Silver, they still won in the hearts of many Americans. I'm celebrating your victory with a La Fin DU Monde, a big upgrade from the Red White and Blue that I was drinking earlier in the day. Congrats to you and the Country that is due South of Detroit. Cheers. :beerbuddy:

Would the fact that there are more events and henceforth, more medals available have anything to do with any of this? Just Thinking.
-
Should have said, " I took one for the team, You'd better show some love."
-
They weren't the best "All-Star" team, But they were definitely the best All-Heart team. Canada was the favorite, USA wasn't even picked to medal. That same attitude is what got Canada beat in the prelims and almost beat in the Medal game. Quit gloating and enjoy that you beat a team that was expected to finish in 4th or 5th place. USA taking a stacked Canada team to overtime, may not win a Gold medal, but they won a moral victory of large proportions. And to dump the loss on Broduer, give me a break. That team should have won with Osgood in goal. Enjoy your victory. 2014 is right around the corner.
