    No way that is true.

What happened to Zetterberg's scoring touch?

So what you're saying is Zetterberg has no love for Osgood? Hell, maybe he hated Rafalski too

    Time for my Cleary update.

This is one of the ridiculous posts I've seen in a while (granted I haven't been reading this site much lately). I can understand you disliking a player or not wanting him on the roster. But when you blow things way out of proportion and make the situation sound a million times worse than even the worst case scenario you just sound like an emotional baby whose throwing a fit because he isn't getting his way

    10 Year Anniversary

It's shocking that it's been 10 years. I never get tired of watching that stuff (as Im sure most of you don't either). That line up is still absolutely insane. Even the defense was stacked.

Top teams are looking to deal

At least the word truculence wasn't used The Wings haven't had a guy like that in over a decade. The biggest issue with drafting where the Wings do is that all their prospects need a lot of time to develop. You're not going to see the Wings with an 18 or 19 year old in their line up any time soon. Tatar was 20 last year when he got some games in but that doesnt even count because that's not the situation I think you were describing anyway

1/19 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Coyotes 2 (SO)

Mursak vs. Emmerton and Kindl vs. Commodore...who do you think is in the line up? I'd guess Mursak and Kindl for tonight

    Hurricanes a blowing?

I was dying for the Wings to sign Anthony Stewart last summer. His numbers this season, so far, haven't been great but he brings a lot with his game. I was surprised there won't more takers on him last summer has he had 39pts in 80 games just last season.

    Patrick Eaves injury

Obviously every time there is an injury it creates an opportunity for another player. Although Eaves' injury was really unfortunate it has given the Wings a chance (at present) to keep both Mursak and Emmerton on the main roster.

Vancouver, your sour grapes are showing

Yeah, I would agree that the article was pretty whiney. To me, it kinda stunk of a sense of self entitlement. I can understand teams/fans being frustrated with not being included in the WC (and maybe as Wings fans we're spoiled) but at the end of the day some cities just can't host and aren't a big enough draw to be involved. The crappy part about that article was that the author really was grasping at straws in an effort to knock the WC. Personally, i don't love off the WC. I think it's a cool thing and good for hockey but I'm not bias in favour of it. So I feel as though I can be fairly subjective (as a lot of fans can be) on the WC and some of the stuff the author wrote was just absurd.

Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized

Obviously eastern american teams are situated in the major (hockey) markets. But I agree that it would be cool to get other teams involved. The way I see it is next year's WC could be that stepping stone as prior to this announcement NBC didn't even want a Canadian team involved. I think that if next year's is a success you'll see marquee matchups involving teams that have rivalries and some history. You can bet you'll see a Mtl vs. Bos. Personally I would like a Stl. vs. Det one year.

Brad Stuart to the West Coast?

Ideally Stuart stays for a cup run. If he then decides to leave it'd be great to trade his rights for a mid range pick. The only problem with that is, in my eyes, the only (California) team that would really like to get him (based on roster needs etc) would be the Ducks. For the Wings to be able to trade his rights there would need to be desire from at least two of those teams. Personally, i don't see that as a likely scenario. Especially since there are some good UFA d-men this summer I doubt ANH/LA/SJ trade anything for his rights when they can try and get what they'd want for free on the UFA market.

Dont get me wrong, I would probably cry if that ever happened, but at least it's not Cory Cross

Brad Stuart to the West Coast?

Honestly, I think Holland's hands are tied when it comes to the Stuart situation. If Holland knows Stuart is going to leave he only has three options: 1. Trade to one of the California based teams who won't give up much anyways because it's pretty well known that Stuart (in this situation being described) wants to head back out west. Or, 2. Trade Stuart to a non-california based team who may be willing to part with more as Stuart could aid in a cup run. Or, 3. Hold onto him as it would take other assets in order to trade for a replacement and end up losing him for nothing. I really don't see how the Wings will come out on top in this situation. Plus, with the way the organization treats their players I doubt they move him at all. I see the Wings holding on to him and taking a shot at a cup. Then when the season is over they'll graciously let him go back West.

    Zetterberg Trade Rumor

Zetterberg started the season with 3g 4a in his first 18 games. Since then he has 5g 20a in the last 25 games. Obviously, we would all like him to score some more goals but you also cannot deny that he is scoring at a PPG pace right now. Datsyuk has 11g and 23a in his last 26 games. If you have both of your top two centres putting up points like that you are in great shape. At this point, who cares how Zetterberg started the year (production-wise) he's producing right now and ideally will continue to do so through the rest of the season and into the playoffs.
  15. As someone who would like to see Parise leave the Devils (so the Wings would have a shot at signing him) I'd say this bodes well as you would think a cash strapped team wouldn't be looking to (or able to) committ large dollars long term to any one (even if it's Parise).

    McCollum Watch

Despite his troubles, thus far, I still do really like McCollum. But does anyone else wish Daniel Larsson was still around?

    Next Captain?

I don't know what rumor sites you visit but even Eklund hasn't come up with the absurd trade you have in your post. What evidence do you possibly have to imply that Zetterberg being trade is even being questioned. There is absolutely 100% no chance of Zetterberg being traded.

    1/10 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Islanders 5

I wonder what the lines will be and who will replace Datsyuk. The Wings could end up trying to rush a call up (Conner, Nyquist etc.) Filppula - Zetterberg - Hudler Franzen - Abdelkader - Bertuzzi Cleary - Helm - Miller Conner - Emmerton - Holmstrom I could see Babcock going with that. Edit: Eww, that's lame (11 forwards and 7 D)

Wings vs Toronto - January 7th

Well, you should be prepared to spend $400 on beer...it's $18 dollar beer night at the ACC next Saturday. I was going to go but I hadn't bothered to get tickets. Stubhub is showing ~$140 for the rafters. That's a little harsh - especially seeing as I just dropped a bunch when I made the hike to Detroit to watch them crush the Jets a couple weeks ago. Anyone have info on some tickets let me know

    Stay classy Kesler

Leaving his feet was only part of the reason he got suspended. The main reason was because the principle point of contact was the head. In the Kronwall hit the principle point is not the head. Big difference I honestly have always disliked Kesler because he whines, cries and is cheap. I can honestly tell you that although I'd probably cheer for him if he were a Wing I would do so begrudgingly. It's no different than how a lot of people felt when Bertuzzi was signed. Some Wings' fans hated him but were torn because part of them would want him to do well simply because he's a Wing. Despite how good he is or can be I would still really prefer he never became a Wing. Also, all this crap about Kronwall not fighting Kesler is being way overblown. Kronwall laid a big hit and it's not like he then turtled or ran away. He made his hit, got up and moved on. The refs were in between Kesler and Kronwall almost right away. Plus, at that stage Kronwall has nothing to gain by fighting. All it would do is take him off the ice for 5 mins.

    Let's Talk About the Refereeing

Potential bias aside, there's a valid point in there. even if the ref believed Zetterberg pushed Hanssen I would have a tough time believing he felt that Zetterberg just crushed Hanssen into Howard. If the push was viewed as minimal but still enough not warrant a goalie interference call then he should also be looking at Hanssen making a reasonable effort to avoid the contact. Maybe he saw something that I don't and he believe a reasonable effort was made. Regardless of all that, when a player goes into a goalie that hard and takes him completely out of the play (unless it was because a defender absolutely crushed him into the goalie) that's gotta be incidental contact.

    12/21 GDT : Red Wings 2 at Canucks 4

It's frustrating because aside from the crap Bieksa pulls like that (which is mostly based on his arrogance) he's actually a pretty solid player. I can't believe i never saw the one punch

    12/21 GDT : Red Wings 2 at Canucks 4

Honetly, I think that's why so many people hate the Canucks. Bieksa saying it's dirty because it's 'sneaky' is absurd. A close knee on knee by kesler, that's dirty. The canucks just ***** about everything that doesnt go their way. I've never hated the Canucks, I actually used to like them. But a handful of players on that team are just so whiney
