I kinda like Miller and when the time comes I'd rather not see him waived/moved. That being said, I definitely do not want to see any of Mursak, Brunnstrom, or Eaves moved in lieu of Miller. Emmerton has also looked really sharp his first two games. We've also got to give Miller credit as he looked really good as well. Basically I dont want to lose any of them but that's not going to be possible at some point this year.

I've actually been really surprised at how quiet it's been around here as well. I figured as soon as the season started this place would be packed again but it's been pretty calm. I usually come on this forum during the day, and rarely at night, but I'm still surprised at how little is going on each morning when I check the site out.

I feel like they are giving Eaves an extra day to rest the ankle. They're also showing Brunnstrom that they aren't handing him anything
-
After all of that I realyl doubt they wouldn't bring in Papa Grande for the save
-
I think he was the best choice to take on an 'A' this year. Plus, he's just awesome anyway

Just think, Tigers beat the Yanks last night. Then tonight we get the Wings opener. Then tomorrow we get the Wings/Avs + the Tigers/Rangers ALCS opener. Then Sunday we get Game 2 of Tigers/Rangers. Then finally on Monday we get the Lions/Bears in the Monday Nighter.

Well, healthy enough not to be on the IR. But yeah, you're right. I think they see the potential in Brunnstrom and unless he busts I dont think they'd waive him to the A at any point this year really.

It was probably (figuratively) a done deal when Mursak got injured. I doubt he gets sent to GR as most would imagine he wouldn't clear waivers.

There's a huge difference between the 40 games a year he's played a college and the demanding 82 game NHL season. I think it makes the most sense to give him the year in the AHL where he will play against men and get used to some serious travel and a longer schedule. Then, see where he's at next summer. Plus, he will be available for a call up or two if needed.

I'll give you that he had more speed/force behind the hit which caused a resultant injury. Coming from the side, to me, is different than coming from the blindside. Ben Smith clearly saw him coming (which players don't usually when the offender is coming from the blind side) which caused him to try and toe drag. Also, I think in this case there is a much stronger argument for the player not targetting the head when compared to Wisniewski. Compare, in terms of discipline (not the physical act of the hit itself) Smith's hit to Shelley's. Smith gets 3 pre-season and 5 regular season while Shelley gets 5 pre-season and 5 regular season. The Shelley hit was predatory in nature, as he hit him from behind with ample time to let up, and Boyce's head when straight into the glass albeit without suffering concussion symptoms as Ben Smith has. I don't see how the difference between Shelley's (which I thought was an appriopriate number of games) is that close (2 regular season game difference) to Smith's.

Honestly, being as unbiased as possible, I can't believe he was given 5 games. I think that is very severe for what transpired. When comparing Smith's hit to Wisniewski's where Wiz: 1. late hit compared to buzzer 2. no change in point of contact immediately prior to contact 3. direct contact with his elbow 4. multiple repeat offender I cannot believe Wisniewski gets 8 and Smith gets 5 (we're talking regular season games because the pre-season, based on how much they'd dress, is negligible). Hopefully the video explanation is sufficient and maybe I just disagree with some of what he'll say in terms of interpreting the hit.

If by chance when Mursak is set to return the Wings waive someone (maybe Emmerton as the poster above suggested) I definitely like the chances of him passing through waivers in December compared to early October.

At first glance I really thought it was kind of dumb. It just seems redundant to me. However, for newer fans it will obviously help. I personalyl don't really like the look but I definitely can't say that it's not functional.

From the comments in the media and the production Brunnstrom has done I honestly don't see how he isn't in the top 14 now that Mursak has been hurt. The only possibility, I would think, would be that the Wings still want to see him work on a longer term basis. He has looked far better than I think most of us could have hoped for. I'm going on record and saying Brunnstrom gets a deal and is on the roster come the Ottawa game.

I don't think that is official (yet?). At least the DetNews doesn't think so>

If it's going to be a Destiny's Child song it's gotta be Bills, Bills, Bills. I'll even give you a little taste of those sweet, classic lyrics: can you pay my telephone bills can you pay my automo'bills then maybe we can chill I don't think you do so you and me are through

The entire HF Boards - well those who claim Datsyuk is the most overrated player in the NHL. The person below me wants to kiss Henrik Zetterberg in exchange for pre-season upper bowls seats

I too can appreciate the effort. However, it's one thing to appreciate the effort while thinking the content is sub-par. I appreciate the effort that goes into making a movie but Boondock Saints 2 (All Saints Day) was still the biggest piece of crap I have seen. Sure, it took a lot of effort to make but I'll still rip it any chance I get.

I think everything is funny....except Red Wings playoff losses. The person below me secretly loves Sidney Crosby but is too ashamed to admit it on LGW

It's funny reading blogs that are written by fans who try to act so knowledgable about a team but then make ridiculous statements. I especially like how he penciled in Jiri Hudler - Johan Franzen - Daniel Cleary as the second line.

Detroit Red Wings - CapGeek As it stands, next off season the Wings will have 13 players signed for $34.9M. That leaves them with (at the current cap limits) $29.4M in space and needing to sign 10 players. It's definitely not out of the question that the Wings could get one of the prized free agents (Suter or Parise) should they be available.

Yup...I'm nervous the hockey season will never come and I instead of talking hockey I'll just be posting in the Water Cooler...just joking. The person below me has a unibrow

I know a lot of people on this forum like Doan a lot and would gladly take him on the Wings roster. Personally, I don't think the odds of Doan ever leaving Phoenix exist. I don't even think he'd want to be a rental for this year's playoffs only to re-sign in Phoenix next summer. I really think he's a Coyote for life

I do definitely agree with that in a way. I dont necessarily think there is more than a remote chance that someone like Connor, Brunnstrom or Emmerton would take a roster spot from Miller, Abdelkader or Hudler. It's just too risky for the Wings to do that because say for example Emmerton made the roster as the 14th forward but Brunnstrom beat out Miller. The Wings would be banking on someone picking him up on waivers before the season started. Now that he has a two year deal in place there's no guarentee. The Wings would drop him to GR and essentially wouldn't be able to call him up if they wanted to because he'd have to go through re-entry waivers and if he was claimed the Wings would be on the hook for half the cost. I don't believe the WIngs are as free spending as they once were (meaning they don't want to waste money). This situation makes it even more dicey for Hudler to be beat out of a spot. The Wings would easily start the year with Hudler or Miller on the roster, in the above example, and look to move them before calling up Brunnstrom. Also, zero chance Abdelkader loses a spot.

I voted Kronwall but it would be sweet to have a tootless, bearded Bertuzzi bobblehead
