Do you have NHL Game Centre Live? Is the game not blacked out for you?

Thanks, I appreciate it. OK, here's another question then. Say I choose to get NHL GameCentre Live so that I can watch on my laptop or on the tv. The fact that I am in canada, will the Wings game still be blacked out since it's on the NHL Network? Or does NHLN-US only affect american users? I'd prefer NHL GC Live compared to Centre Ice because of its use on multiple devices and you can also choose which broadcast to hear...I hate listening to the away broadcast teams during Wings games

Does any one know what the deal is with the game apparently only being viewable on the NHL Network? I live in Canada and was going to order NHL Centre Ice today since my cable provider was offering a free preview of CI until the end of January. Does any one know if the game will be available on CI?

Not sure it would be enough for COL but that would be my ideal offer as well. I'd even consider including Andersson and making the 2nd a 3rd.

I'd actually like to see Tootoo on the 3rd line tonight. I'd imagine this would be the perfect game to up his minutes.

I love how you speak with such certainty. If you watch the Griffs games you can see how Nyquist controls and thinks the game. Comparing Helms AHL career .55 PPG with Nyquist being a point per game player is irrational. All of Helm, Emmerton, Mursak, and Abdelkader were no where close to point per game guys in the AHL. I'm not disagreeing that some posters on this forum, in my opinion, are overvaluing Nyquist. But even the worst offenders are on par with how much you are undervaluing him.

I'd personally rather the Wings don't trade Nyquist. I do think that there are plenty of other prospects that could make such a deal happen. Either way, if such a trade were possible I would slide O'Reilly into the number 2C spot right away. Imagine either Datsyuk or Zetterberg playing the Wing and not having to be so defensively minded all the time. They're offence could flourish and not only that, if an injury were to happen they slide right back to centre.

I really think the Wings are a playoff team. I think the loss of Lidstrom/Stuart are making ppl look at the blue line in an overly pessimistic way. As much as so many ppl hated Ericsson before I think he's taken huge strides the last year+. I also think Quincey is no where near as bad as he played last year (after the trade) or the first couple of games this season. I think it's only natural for people to see the loss of names on the blue line and think it's all doom and gloom but I think the D will prove to be much better than most ppl anticipated. That said, I'm not saying they will be elite just not necessarily the downfall of this team either. I see the Wings ending up in the 4-6 range in the WEST. To me, the Hawks and Sharks will be good but they will slow down for their crazy starts. Van and LA should improve while other teams like Anaheim should dwindle.

I completely agree with that assessment. Kindl also seems to be a bit more engaging - meaning he's taking the body to opposing players instead of getting hit. He seems to be less timid

The two games Kindl has played this year I think he has shown some improvement from last year. By no means has he been perfect but he seems stronger, more confident and looks like he belongs a bit more. I personally think Kindl may be at a point in his career that is similar to where Ericsson was at the beginning of last season. They've had some ups and downs but it's time to take a big stride and to me, he looks like he may be able to do that. I dont know if his offensive game will ever flourish but he definitely does not seem shakey out there.

It's also kinda funny that the second D pairing on the PP is Smith/Kindl as opposed to Smith/Quincey. Say what you want about Quincey's game right now, he has shown to have good offensive/PP qualitites. It seems as though the Wings are intent on transforming Quincey into a D first, and only, type of d-man

Those are definitely not bad lines except when healthy it leaves a third line of Bertuzzi - Helm - Samuelsson which for me doesn't seem great - not bad though. I personally would have liked to see, last night after the lines got rearranged, lines of Filppula - Zetterberg - Brunner, Nyquist - Datsyuk - Franzen, Cleary - Abdelkader - Eaves, Miller - Emmerton - Tootoo If Bertuzzi and Helm are back in the line up come friday I would like to see the following: Filppula - Zetterberg - Brunner, Nyquist - Datsyuk - Franzen, Bertuzzi - Helm - Cleary, Eaves - Abdelkader - Tootoo. However, most would agree that Miller does not deserve to sit the most likely course of action will be to send Nyquist back down and rearrange from there.

I thought at the time Holland should have signed Redden. I know that there wasnt a roster spot available at the time but the depth on the blueline was bad. In his defense, the need for another body on the blueline wasn't nearly what it was this morning. At that time only Kindl was on day-to-day.

Just like everyone was saying not to get too bummed by the Wings first games I don't think we should get too pumped over Lashoff's one game. I did think however that he looked great and fit in well. I didn't mind the couple of mistakes he made. I think if he gets a bit of an extended stay here (meaning like 5-7 games) we'd have a really nice idea of what he truly is and hopefully what he may actually become. Either way, I was really happy with his game last night and hope he gains strides again tonight.

I wouldnt mind, eventually, seeing Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Samuelsson and Franzen - Filppula - Brunner...assuming that Datsyuk and Zetterberg will be kept together for the immediate future. I think Samuelsson is more the speed of D and Z and that could work well. A fast second line could be nice as Fil was skating well last night

The way Quincey played against St. Louis I would not want him paired with Lashoff. I know Lashoff is the stay at home, defensive type but this will be his NHL debut. I'm not one of the Quincey haters but I'd rather he get his game rolling before taking care of a rookie...I'm not even thrilled that the original pairing had Quincey with Smith.

I wanted him in the past and I'd definitely want him now. Currently with Helm on the IR and clearly Mursak (and most likely Bertuzzi) being placed on the IR I would think there would be space on the 23 mane roster. I know McCollum is up and since Gustavsson is only scheduled to be out a couple games he may not be on the IR but I would think there would still be a spot open. Any one know who has officially been place don IR and who hasnt?

When Helm is healthy Abs will be 4th line centre. But right now with Helm not expected to play on Saturday Abdelkader will play 3rd line centre which creates a hole on the four spot. But that doesn't change the space on the roster issue. Right now there are 15 forwards: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Brunner, Franzen, Filppula, Samuelsson, Clearly, Helm, Bertuzzi, Tootoo, Eaves, Miller, Abdelkader, Mursak, Emmerton If Helm can't go then Abdelkader slots to 3rd line centre. Unless someone is put on the IR someone needs to be cut (and this is ignoring that Knuble is there too). If Abs moves up we need a fourth line centre and that can't be accomplished by bringing up Sheahan or Andersson as they would take up another spot on the roster. In my mind, I would think they would end up slotting Emmerton into the fourth line centre spot and waiving Mursak...unless someone can be put on the IR

The only problem I see is that with this news it means Eaves obviously can't start the season on LTIR and with Helm day-to-day someone will have to be cut/released/waived/traded. Because the Wings will need a 4th line centre it probably means Emmerton starts the year witht he club which could push Mursak out which would suck.

The logic behind the Leafs potentially moving Franson is that they have a number of defensemen on the roster that if sent down to the minors they fear could be lost to waiver wire acquisitions (i.e Holzer). Since Franson could garner some mild interest and a move could be made quickly (before the start of the season/23 man roster set) it makes sense. That being said, I don't necessarily think the Leafs make this move but to me, that's the logic behind the thinking of St. James (or whoever actually thought this up).
